  1. The only surprise about yesterday's result is that anyone is surprised at it. Having supported them for more years than I can remember now I know that everytime we get into a good position to achieve something we reach for the self-destruct button.

At present we have far too many small and lightweight players in the side who are simply not robust and pyhsically strong enough to play in the SPL. So when they come up against the likes of Hamilton, St Mirren, ICT etc. they struggl and are too easily knocked around.

McCall needs to take a leaf out of Colin Calderwood's book at Hibs. He had a terrible run of results when he arrived at Hibs but then he realised he had too many weaklings that couldn't physically match many of their opponents. Since then he's brought in a number of bigger physical players (admittedly they can also play a bit) who are not so easily knocked about and lo and behold 5 wins and a draw.

I agree with this. If you look at the top teams in the EPL and SPL the players look bigger and stronger. Rooney at Man Utd. as an example is no lightweight.

  2. First of all WOW like the new Steelmenonline. . Just back from a cracking couple of days in Inverness that consisted of lots of bevy. . Could i just say that if Motherwell fc aren't going to give a feck in a game could you please let us fans know cos frankly paying over £40 to watch that crap is really breaching the trades description act I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!! We stolled through that game like a kickabout in a sunday afternoon all that was missing was the cans of beer on the touchline!!! 3-0 by a team that we beat regularly is frankly feckin deplorable. If the likes of Hately-Jeffers and Forbes aren't interested in trying then FECK OFF!!!

Frankly that says it all +1

  3. I'm yet to be convinced but let's be clear that he was never Motherwell's first choice. According to Wikipedia, McCall's win percentage as a manager has never exceeded 35%. In saying that, the players have to shoulder the bulk of responsibility at Inverness for their lack of effort.

  4. Well moving on from today and onto next Sunday looking at heading up to Dundee and staying over on Saturday night anyone recommend any good places for food/drink on the Saturday night?

Some fabulous pubs in Broughty Ferry ten minutes up the road, The Fishermans, Ship Inn etc. and a fine curry house if its still there. Lovely place.

  5. Christ sake,

He's got an eye for a player, everyone he's brought in has above average pass marks (well before today).

He managed a win over the OF, something none of the past few have managed.

Out of his 14-15 games there is today, Rangers and Dundee Utd. as particularly poor, Killie we were dominant and should have had a win, St. Mirren and St. Johnstone should have been a point each from what I saw and understand. Aberdeen and Celtic were great results.

He won't be going anywhere when we still have 27 months of compensation to pay if we get rid of him.

Today's shocking performance along with the other results not going our way (Killie 2-0 up at Tynecastle) and all the talk of consistency during the week looks like its fell on deaf ears.

    Ain't that right.

  6. You probably got a good education there cos it's a good school and that's all that should matter, religion belongs in church IMO, if folks want to practice then attend on Sundays or whenever the fancy takes. Leave schools to teach kids their necessary education. We have to do something about this now, argue all you want but separate schools has a major effect, no question about that.

Parents always have the ultimate responsibility of course but splitting wee Johhny up from his best pal from nursery at the age of 5 cos he's a different religion only teaches the kids that they're different and fuels the fire in later years.

Mostly agree with that Fatclaf, as I said I'm not really in favour of the separate school system but here there's no religious intolerance lets say.

  7. I actually know many Celtic supporters that aren't Catholics and im sure many other people do to. Only in Scotland can football discussions always end up about religion. Im just glad my son is being brought up in a society that don't care where you are from, what team you support and they sure as hell don't give a flying fuck what school you went to.

It is funny Oz, in an odd Scottish way that people post about things they have no idea about like history, like people think Celtic fans are all Catholics etc. Only in Scotland! I agree with you. In the 15 years I have been in Canada not one single person has asked what religion I am, not one. We have Catholic schools too, no social issues with that. I will agree to some extent that I am not really in favour of separate schools but clearly a lot of tax payers are and so I don't really care either way. I went to Catholic school in Scotland and had a damn good education and I am sure similarly the same happened at Dalziel High.

I guess in Scotland it will always come down to the Celtic v. Rangers, the Catholic v. Protestant ideology until a person gets older and realizes the stupidity of it. Unfortunately the young generation are still influenced by their misinformed parents, siblings and friends. Chick Young is right.

Look at Neil Lennon and McCoist in the picture. They are like sharks in a tank, frenzied, and see how that plays out in our putrid Scottish society in houses, bars and bedrooms. They are a fucking disgrace and hopefully the government will step in because I personally am sick and tired of their gutter tactics and how they bring shame on a Scotland that replicates this ned-like culture.

  8. Yep, I was only 10, so witnessed it from the Main Stand with my Dad. This was the same year that the evil h*n done us in the semi final I think?

Was that the same game we were beating Rangers 2-0 or thereabouts and they got that dodgy penalty when a 'Well defender tackled the guy at least a yard if not more outside the box, they scored and then came back to win it. Was sick that night.
