It’s very disrespectful to the team who managed to finish second over a 38 game season to belittle their achievement. Personally I could probably name as many of the champions league team as the 1991 cup winning team and I was there for both The second point about European trips and alcohol is absolute nonsense in my opinion and again disrespectful to the fans. European football means by default you have seen a successful team achieve a great season the season previously. No different to Motherwell winning the Scottish cup for example and then being knocked out in the 4th round the next season.

Why realistically will it not happen? We would likely be seeded in the second qualifying round of ECL. I would fancy us to go through that and then we can easily beat most teams in Q3/playoff over 2 legs. There is no team in the league this season that has beaten us over a 2 game aggregate score for almost a year. If we keep most of this squad together then I don’t think it’s any more likely or unlikely than us winning the cup this season. We would suit ties over 2 legs and if there is one manager I would trust to have us ready and match sharp for these games it’s Jens. Also Ross County and Inverness have experienced league 1 relatively recently as well - I would prefer our current position to there’s over the last 15 years including cup wins.

I was also there when we won the Scottish Cup as a child and wouldn’t want to belittle the achievement in any way. However I just don’t think the sentimental or nostalgic elements that you describe for the fans should outweigh the actual achievements of the team that we have seen on the pitch. We are now over 30 games into the season overall having played 26 in the league and people are still talking about us being outsiders for the league title. This isn’t the early 90’s any more. The financial gulf between us and the other 3 teams is massive. To be where we are whilst also playing the style of football we do us nothing short of remarkable and is the biggest achievement by far for me.

I think people are forgetting we had a player sent off within 2 minutes and we were down to 9 men by 46 minutes. As such we will never know if tonight’s team selection might have worked over the 90 mins. Such a big decision happening so early does have a massive effect on the team. Perhaps it is a continental thing and appreciate it might be controversial but I am never really bothered about winning a cup. The only benefit winning the Scottish cup is getting into European competition. Looking forward this team needs to put all its focus over the next 6 months into achieving group stage football - this is the thing that could potentially have a massive financial benefit to the club and it is still very achievable for the team.

Whilst I understand the views that people have about removing VAR I would not be in favour of getting rid of technology completely. If we are getting rid of VAR we should invest that money in semi automated offside technology. Objective calls need to be correct and corrupt officials can easily influence them in their favour as well.

I hope that is the case to give him a baseline but he will need at least a year in an immersive experience to be fluent. The club will be well used to settling players from other countries though so I wouldn’t be too worried. it’s a great move for him. I can see him doing well if he can get through the first 6 months and is playing. Udinese have lost a few midfielders but they have a better squad just now than they did at the end of last season. I can see them having a more comfortable year which may work in Lennon favour. I will be in Milan at the time of the Inter Udine game so may try and go to see it.

Unlikely after the events last season. It also appears that the link with Ferguson is the main reason that they are in the driving seat. Bologna is a wonderful city to live in out of the options available - perhaps with the exception of some of the cities further south. Will be interesting to see how it pans out.

I’m in Bologna just now and reading the local media it appears to be a done deal. They are quoting €5 million (euro remember not pounds) but with added extras including a sell on clause for Motherwell - doesn’t mention the % but does say a further fee will be due if hit certain number of Serie A appearances before the 26-27 campaign. Torino would definitely be the preferred option if you asked my opinion (likely to play as a 10 there and feed some excellent strikers) - more suited clubs for him would be a Fiorentina or Verona looking at their squads but doesn’t appear to be working out that way. Much as I hate to say it I could see him playing as an 8 at Lazio but may be tougher to hit the 30-40 games a season he would expect After the success of McTominay, Gilmour, Ferguson, Adams, Doig and Henderson previously Italian teams are keen on “Fortissimo” Scottish players. As someone who lives in the country and follows the league closely I would be very surprised if Miller isn’t also living here soon.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you but that doesn’t make it OK for Robinson to say something that just didn’t happen.

That just isn’t true. I was sitting two rows behind the fan who he had an interaction with (Robinson and the fan both were giving each other stick throughout the game which was fair enough both ways to my eye). The fan made the point during the treatment break that this injury was all on Robinson and his encouragement of horrendous fouling tactics. Jacovides pushed Watt who fell into Slattery and bumped into the injured player. The fan never swore at Robinson in that exchange and never said anything derogatory about the injured player. Robinson then said something completely unrelated, along the lines of “hes being taken to hospital and that’s ok!?” And the fan said he’s only going to hospital because of your tactics. And that was it. nonsense and untruths need to be called out when it happens because as we have seen recently, these things quickly grow arms and legs and before you know where we are all sorts of lies are being written about us.

I can’t agree with that. The referees in European competition are far superior to Scottish referees. They also definitely make less mistakes. VAR is much better utilised as well.

I would imagine 1-2 teams might break the 35 point barrier looking at the fixtures though. I think every team plays 2-3 of the other teams around them so as long as they are not all draws then if one team goes on a run they could in effect win 2/3 “6 pointers”

Does anyone watching abroad ever have issues with the official stream from live.motherwellfc cutting out every 2 mins? literally is happening every game for me now. I have tried to change web browser but hasn’t helped. Happens with all the players.

Thanks I can see that as well but it only says live audio. Previously I am sure it said live video. However when I click on the link it says live video for overseas subscribers and live audio for UK/Ire. Is that the same for you? My overseas ST that I have paid for still says that live video is available for H and A games but I know that the SPFL have now removed this option for UK subscribers.

Is the game available on MFC TV for overseas subscribers live? Can’t see it on my login page as yet.
