It’s like watching celtic play an U13 team time to cut the grass
-
I agree the shape of that team is ok but we need to bite the bullet and have van veen up front. As much as he frustrates, when he’s not there I just do not see any spark or matchwinner in that team. We have nobody that can change a game. Not one player. Watt could do it and van veen can…. When he’s in the right frame of mind. id rather see him play in the hope he can add a spark rather than shields who I cannot see as a player, he can charge about but if you look at the times he can’t hold the ball up and loses possession it’s just not acceptable.

Aww FFS in my 40 odd years watching Motherwell I don’t think I’ve ever had less faith in a team than this one. We are horrible to watch.
-
We are extremely fortunate to have Kelly otherwise we’d be fighting it out with Dundee and St Johnstone this season. I’m dismayed by Alexander in general but for a guy who’s had a long career as a defender his inability to recognise a decent defender(or play them in the correct position) is outstanding. We have players there, I personally think odonnell mugabi and even Carroll are ok but they’ve been shifted about all season and they look lost half the time, that lies at the feet of GA. ojala is awful, don’t care what anyone says and the love for Sol is beyond me? As much as he seems a lovely bloke he’s a good level amateur player at best. If he was Scottish he’d be destroyed by our fans every week. we’ve got the top six and have an outside chance of europe which is incredible. Hopefully we can show some fight in the final games and nudge ahead of united and county which is possible if that idiot puts the right team out. Onwards we go on the rollercoaster
-
Can’t deny how shit we have been and how miserable the past 6 months have been watching this Alexander team play but getting top 6 is fantastic for our club financially and we still have a chance of getting a European place,,which is utterly staggering. it’s completely papering over cracks, but I’ll accept it tonight.

Ohara is one of the few genuine talented players we have. I sort of despair of supporters who don’t recognise this. Everyone has an opinion I suppose. They can’t always be correct like me
-
100% Jack Ross. His teams play good attractive football and I think he’s been harshly treated at a couple of clubs. unfortunately I don’t see GA being sacked or walking away. we have decent players in this squad which is the frustrating thing…. They all look lost and devoid of any idea of what they are meant to be doing.

Please blow the final whistle now
-
I think this is our main issue as supporters when we criticise our current left back incumbents. When you look at Carroll and Mcginley they are just not in the same ballpark as we’ve been used to in the past and we have been spoiled and expect a higher level of player. Joe wark, Tom Boyd, Rab McKinnon, Stevie McMillan, Stevie Hammell. we really had a run of tremendous left backs and the current crop are just not anywhere near it.
-
Wow, can’t believe Mutley got that job. If you’re a Dundee fan you’d be raging. i still have a soft spot for McGhee in a strange way, he had us playing some great stuff first time around and you could never criticise him for the way he led us through Phil’s passing. good luck to him…… but I can only see failure at that club.
-
We’re extremely fortunate to have Kelly as our keeper. Imagine the damage that could happen if we had a craig Samson or lee hollis in that team.
-
Tierney and Efford looking busy and have made an improvement
-
Yeah, young Cornelius is doing well. Apart from him…. No one defensively, especially on the left hand side we are so poor. Mcginley Carroll and solholm just aren’t good enough. Cricket score incoming

I don’t care what anyone thinks, if a player (no matter if you believe he always gives 100% or not) has signed a pre contract with a rival team, his head will be on securing his future, maintaining his fitness…. Eg not getting injured ,, therefore in my view he will not be running through walls for Motherwell. if we can get money for him in January…. Six figures would be great.. we should get rid of him. Either that or he’ll be a wage thief until his contract expires in June. i get the feeling GA won’t be too keen to play him either(rightly imo) so I just don’t see the point in him winding down his contract. Not that I’m too interested in watt or dundee Utd but it does them no favours either. He’s not exactly a guy who keeps himself in peak fitness, sitting on the bench will make sure he adds the excess pounds he had last year and probably make him slower than he is already. We’ve lost way better players in Tony watt and I won’t shed any tears with him leaving. He’s done fine for us and we’ve been good for him but if he wants to kiss another badge and fawn false love for another club all over social media good luck to him.

Magic sponge retro have produced this belter. £45 and £5 delivery. I believe they still have a few left. Looks pretty decent, the band is maybe slightly wider than the original but a good effort
-
Horrible
-
Love those short corners. don’t know why we don’t do more of those
-
Dreadful game. The lack of any decent football from both sides is frightening. The less said about the goal the better
-
Kent off for them now too. Excellent !! Keystone cops defending for Lyons second goal. looking good for us to pump them on their marching celebration of orangeness on sunday…… sorry “flag day”
-
Flag day??…. What a joke club. Wouldn’t dream of attending that piggery anyway. I only hope our players manage to get there and back without catching the orange mutant covid variant.

I firmly believe if we had big sieb in mcleish’s first season we’d have won the league that year. Woods was an awful goalkeeper, maybe not thee worst I’ve seen for us but definitely up there in the top 5. the only goalie I’ve ever saw who on a one to one with a striker he’d make the goal look bigger. Running out to the striker with his arms rigid to his sides…… still makes me shake with fear.

That’s what happens when you put him in a Livingston strip

Motherwell V Hibs - 2021/22 League Grand Kick Off
mio replied to StirlingDosser's topic in Club Chat
Compare this game to day one last season v ross county and it’s Absolute night and day. loads of positives to come from that. Kvv was outstanding, slattery when he gets up to speed will be excellent, looks a classy player. Barry maguire I thought was great, worked his arse off. Carrol did well and will get better. minus points for me was lamie again, hopefully the big Fin will replace him. Disappointed with Donnelly, I just don’t see it in him? Woolery could be frustrating but I’ll give him time. I had an absolute fear about the game today and season ahead but I think I’ve seen enough to think we will be ok. -
I thought SOD had a poor game yesterday and there were a few cringe moments. One where he just ran into Christie when Christie was shaping up for a potential chance (whether that ended up in row z is irrelevant) regardless of SOD limitations he was not the only one who was poor yesterday. So frustrating as I think a win was our only chance of progressing, the Czechs weren’t great but did a professional job on us. They had that added bonus of having a good striker. As much as I can understand Clarke playing that team, tournament football is ruthless, top international managers are ruthless. They need to be brutal and in my view Gordon is a better keeper, I saw enough from Forrest playing against the Dutch to see he could do well as a wingback instead of SOD . Mcgregor and Christie should be out and gilmour and Turnbull in. And Adams should always start. If the same side as yesterday or similar shape of team goes out against England I fear a disaster.

As big, slow, immobile centre half’s go, he was up there with the best of them. I thought he did really well in his first season, motherwell got the best out him and he did well out of motherwell. He did well for Scotland, his best game being against Serbia but you have to look at the style of player he was up against that night. Mitrovic is a good big player but he has been out of sorts all season, he goes in huffs when he’s not happy and he’s also big and one paced. A perfect player for big dec to shine against. When Dec did play against a quick decent striker he struggles. He was horrendous against Hapoel for example. I don’t wish him any ill will, he did well for us and he’s off to get more money elsewhere. But I’ve seen much better centre half’s play for us and I’m sure I will again.
