  1. Ah well as expected Nicholson for Vale leaving Bair isolated up front. Let's see how Spittal does today but if he's poor again then that should be him benched for rest of season. And please give Halliday a break.. booing ain't gonna help COYW
  2. But he was a hybrid of both so not really comparable. If he had played against Odense we would have won be 3 or 4 as he was an expert at coming late in at the back post, and we had numerous similar chances in that game. Jamie Murphy is another who is was a worse striker than Bair or Vale and a not as good as Spittal, Miller and Slattery as a midfielder but still overall better than all of them.
  3. Halliday and Nicholson in for Vale and Davor. Risky considering their form and Spittal's complete disinterest since Ibrox.
  4. As a striker? Bair and Vale. As a midfielder, Spittal, Miller and Slattery. In terms of fitness, every one of them is better than Richie "blowin' after 60 mins" Foran. He got a lot of leeway from many fans because of his off the field activities, but as a player, falls very much into the Average category for me.
  5. There are several issues at play here and its not all down to VAR. I do get the unnecessary delays and the micro analysing decisions i.e. an incident should be clear and obvious. However, what its poor performance to date does highlight is the level of inconsistency in decision making and the defensive/secretive attitude of the SFA. There is then the adoption of ridiculous rules and guidelines about handball and red card tackles. A final word on the Jack Vale red card - why was Butland only yellow carded in the St Mirren V Rangers game?
  6. Very much so. I wouldn't have advocated a Charge of the Light Brigade approach, but oh dear we looked very reluctant to commit fully to attack until the very late cavalry charge. We seemed to lack self belief, we we dug deep and showed character to snatch a late levelller through a fantastic Blaney strike. The wind certainly spoiled proceedings but I thought Hibs coped better. That said they were pretty toothless and had to rely on a very soft penalty (apologies BBC) to score. Although the players put in a lacklustre error strewn perfomance, I thought our starting line uop was wrong. Bair was, all too often, left isolated with Vale completely wasted in a wide, deep role. Please, please him alongside Bair in the remaining fixtures. Hibs began to exert prerssure after the break and you could feel we were going to concede. Maybe around the 55 minute mark was the time for change. I'd have hooked an out of form Spittal for Nicholson at that point. I didn't see the point the point in taking off Vale later on and bringing Shaw on. Nicholson for SOD?? Gent was my MOTM and it was a shame that all too often, no-one was there to get on the end of his crosses. Kelly too had a good game. Spittal is not performing at the moment and maybe its time now to bring in Nicholson, depending on what his position is with SK. Davor to me flatters to deceive. A busy player he isn't a great passer of the ball and is a bit lightweight, as we saw today against bigger and more aggressive opponents. Plenty of police activity and blue sirens post match with the odd sight of Police horses going through Brandon Parade. No doubt some after match action. Again apologies to the BBC for spoiling Hibs' day.
  7. Whether we think harsh or not I just feel this was a waste of money as we were never going to be successful unless Vale was wearing a Sellik or Gers top. We move on and hopefully Moses gets a chance but guaranteed it will be Nicholson to give another midfielder and leave Bair isolated...... overthinking SK will strike again. Ps. Oh and did I ever say that Bevis is a big nice guy? 😜😜
  8. It's not just about Vale as you say. It's the inconsistencies. Dunne got a yellow for a tackle that left Mika crocked for three months.
  9. So, with Jack Vale being unavailable for Saturday do we bring in Sam Nicholson or Moses or maybe Oli Shaw in midfield?
  10. Compare Vale's challenge to the one which put Lennon Miller out for several months. The Aberdeen player went in on him, late, high and with intent. Referee failed to produce a card of any colour.
  11. Yip, no idea why that was appealed. Total waste of money. Vale clearly didn’t mean it but it was reckless, wild and caught him right in the haw maws. Clear red for me.
  12. Although I have sympathy for the referee in having to make a decision on what he has seen, I would say that there was no challenge and there certainly wasn’t a lunge. It would be fanciful but if you could air brush the Aberdeen player out of the video you would just see a foot kicking the ball, no deviation towards an opponent. The force of the incident was provided by the opponent not Vale. I suspect there was enough contact that the appeal will fail. The Rangers keeper got yellow carded for clearing a ball then a St Mirren player running into him. Why is there no onus on the player to protect himself? In our case the Aberdeen boy wasn’t getting the ball and his momentum caused a collision.
  13. So basically vale shouldn't have challenged? Players can't win at times
  14. I’ll stick with my view as it’s not reckless either both players were entitled to go for the ball and no I wouldn’t have been screaming for a red card but I’d have been screaming at Vale if he’d pulled out of the challenge and I’m confident our appeal will be upheld.
  15. Absolutely. I don't know in exactly how many games, Vale has been playing behind Bair in an advanced midfield role but I do know thats been the case in the last 2. We've drawn one of those and lost the other. The single goal we did score was through a defender. Now, its simplistic and wrong to attribute both of those results solely to this one tactical move. However, there is more evidence to show that it has not worked than to show that it has worked. Then again someone could argue that this move is more about not losing goals than scoring them. An overly cautious approach if true.
  16. It baffles me that Kettlewell can't see what the fans see every week regarding Vale. He's a striker; play him beside Bair. It's that simple. Although I bet he starts Nicholson instead of Moses next week. It's time for a new keeper next season. For a team like ours, I’d rather have a big commanding keeper than a smaller shot-stopper. I'm pleased to see that Kettlewell isn't afraid to call out the officials on this incident. However, it’s a shame he's not as quick to learn from his own persistent failings, as perhaps that would give some indication that he's capable of implementing effective changes across the piece.
  17. Just watched the TV highlights. A few points stood out for me. * Vale playing behind Bair again in midfield. At least that won't happen next week. Another striker will be playing in midfield. No need to sign many more sr trikers in the summer just sign more midfielders! * Kelly flapping at a cross again. * Never a red card. As Handsome Devil says on P & B, no intent, wins the ball, no excessive force, and Aberdeen player comes in late. A yellow card. Aberdeen certainly seem to have the Indian sign over us with referees, don't they.
  18. It was disappointing, but entirely expected, not take something from the game. It was always going to be a huge ask. Very disappointing too to lose Vale to a red card but again you expect that kind of incident at Pittodrie. I'm more concerned at his absence next week. Results elsewhere really went in our favour to make it a decent day. The games at Livingston and Perth were always going to be more important for us today than our own game.
  19. Vale unavailable next week then Do we play Bair up top himself Or does Moses or Shaw play with him More realistic Moses with him I think
  20. Vale is on loan so he probably won't be and he's been decent for us. As has McGinn
  21. Aye it's the thought of O'Donnell, Kelly, McGinn, Halliday, Nicholson and Vale being here next season that worries me.
  22. That should be the end of Vale. He's nowhere near the required standard.
  23. Vale and Spittal are both useless. Davor being unable to play simple passes doesn't help either. If Aberdeen can get a shot on target that will probably settle it.
  24. Happy with that but hopefully change of formation.... please...pllleeeaassseeeee play Vale up top alongside the Bair
  25. I’m hoping there’s some work going on behind the scenes to get Gent and Vale back here, one way or another, for next season.
