Former Motherwell Fc Players Thread

Not a specific former player but it is eight years to the day since the playoff 2nd leg, part two of the most important result for the club in the last decade and more.

The players on that day really stepped up to the plate after failing to do so all season. Ainsworth, Pearson, Johnston, McManus and of course Lee Erwin are the names you instantly think of when remembering those games.

I give a lot of credit to Baraclough for getting the tone exactly right in those games. Another huge factor was having guys like Pearson, McManus and McDonald in the team. Winning at Ibrox was quite normal to them and that mindset was something we'd been lacking in many previous visits.

Exactly, there was none of the subservient fear of them that'd we'd seen all to often in previous games against them, especially under the man in their dugout for those games. For once we went out and showed them no respect instead of 'playing the name' of Rangers and we got the job done.

And don't forget the Rangers team we played in those games was absolute dug shite which helped a lot, light years away from the team they have now.

Very true. Despite the media hype, it's easy to forget they finished 3rd in the Championship that season 22 points off the top.

That Rangers team was absolutely bang average, or rank rotten by their standards. But I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that had Stuart McCall been in charge of us instead of them for those games then we would not have beaten them.

The Rangers team we beat in the play offs clearly werent the standard of the teams of the past or that they have had since.

However, it was a team that still cost way more money to put together than we could afford at the time and they were still playing in front of 50k of their own fans.

Beating them 3-1 at their place shouldnt be talked down. It was still a hell of an achievment and a thoroughly satisfying night out!

Steven Lawless and Jack McMillan looking good for thistle in play off...never rated McMillan too much at fp but looking good tonight

McMillan has looked good at Thistle in general.

A certain L Grimshaw played a part in the Wrexham red dragons beating former players from the US Women’s team 12-0 in a 7 a side tournament. 😳
Match Highlights

The US commentators are comedy gold, but the two celebs running Wrexham can't be faulted for selling the brand to the gullible Americans, disappointed Grimmy never scored.
