FirParkCornerExile
I'm not asking people whether they think he should be sacked but how long do people think hes got before the board act, bearing in mind to get shot of him wouldn't cost much as his contracts up in July. I think if we lose our next two games and end up 9th or 10th 2 pts off the play off the board might well act. This is the second season we've gone through this and the board have backed him in 3 transfer windows.

As many great thinkers have said, you can only pish with the cock you've got, and he's signed a lot of floppy cocks... That doesn't excuse our leaky defence, however. And I don't have an answer to that, except maybe try a back four with a holding defensive midfielder sitting in front... Kettlewell needs to find a way to get the best out of the busted flush he has in part created...Can he do it again? Oh, so familiar. On 12/5/2023 at 11:37 PM, wellfan said: You should pause this thread as I bet the Board fails to act (again) and Kettlewell gets the St Johnstone game to throw more darts at a map. Groundhog Day. On 12/6/2023 at 11:58 AM, wellfan said: Giving Kettlewell the January window (to likely fuck up again) would be like gifting gloves to an armless man. If that happens, and we go down, I don't think many fans could forgive the Board and will act with their feet and wallets by taking them elsewhere. It's happening again. Again, isn't it?! On 12/16/2023 at 8:18 PM, wellfan said: Enough is enough and business is business. Kettlewell won't do. He was shown to be gash by December 2023, and he still won't do in January 2025. On 12/24/2023 at 2:40 PM, wellfan said: Let's be honest here; he's not getting sacked around Christmas. If it happens, it'll happen in the new year and, hopefully, before the transfer window, as I wouldn't trust him and Daws not to piss away our meagre budget on other stupid projects and crocks. But it looks like our meagre budget is enough for a 30-man first team squad now. On 12/31/2023 at 11:09 AM, wellfan said: I still don't think Kettlewell has the experience or tactical nous we need to improve and progress. My concern is that he’ll now get the January window and likely sign more crocks and duds, leaving us at the end of the season in no better state than we currently find ourselves. If you think long-term and aspire for something better, yesterday very much has the feeling of papering over the cracks for me. Groundhog Day mk2.

I wish I had your optimism about our style of play, you must not go to a lot of games, I’ve been to them all, we have 30 percent possession most games, a few weeks ago Killie destroyed us for a 0-0 draw, we shouldn’t be the team that offers zero and hopes for the best, every team in the league plays better football than us, we have been very lucky this season, we won’t go down but we need change, we had nearly 2000 at Perth last week, today about 200, what does that tell you.

We wont go down? I remember Hibs fans saying the same when they were in exactly the same position we are in now and they went down. A play off spot for us is a VERY REAL possibility.

It is difficult swimming against the tide. I really hope you prove to be right. I just get a sense now that we may be heading down an all too familiar road and that Kettlewell's time may be running out. It feels like deja vu from the last days of Baraclough, Robinson, Alexander and Hammell in recent weeks. There does come a point where maybe we have to start considering the possibility that not all managers are rubbish and that the challenges run a little deeper. Keep fighting the good fight. And I certainly don't have an issue with other folks opinions Im probably just too soft hearted. I get upset when any manager goes - but that's a me thing. Can't change myself He isn't away yet, but he needs to turn it round and quickly. My own view.....I think he has ran out of ideas and lost the players backing, publicly slating them a lot......which a lot deserve but you do that behind closed doors

Spiderpig
13 hours ago, prideoflanarkshire said: Who would make the decision to sack him? The board or the WS? We all know unless SK walks away he's in charge for the rest of the season. From being in a decent position before Christmas it all went wrong since then, yes there are mitigating factors re injuries etc, but SK needs to stop the rot very soon as we are only 6 off the playoff spot now. It's not going to happen next week against Celtic but we need to find a settled shape and style soon, making 4 or 5 subs every game hoping something will happen is bullshit. I'm not 100% certain SK will manage it and there are signs he may be losing the dressing room but where we are just now 2 or 3 wins will make all the difference so here's hoping he can sort it. As ever its where you end up in May that matters so with 14 games left to play, 42 points on offer, this could still end up a decent season. santheman
I've kinda made peace with myself that until Miller is back(assuming he's not away this window) and Slattery can last 90mins then we're not going to have anything close to a functioning midfield so I fear it wil be more of the same for the forseeable future at least. I agree to a point but we've been shite for 2 months except the Rangers game and 15 mins against Aberdeen and Lennon Miller played in most of those games. SK's set up is killing the likes of LM and dragging him down to the dross round about him. I don't think LM's return will change anything until SK starts to play a style that gives him a chance. If LM has any sense he will get out in January cos the current Motherwell team is wasting him.

With us being knocked out of the Scottish Cup and on a downwards trajectory, there’s absolutely zero incentive for him to hang around until summer.
coldonmac
The Well Society have no direct say in the matter. The Board of MFC, as does the Board of any Company, makes the decisions with regards to its business. The only thing the WS can do is to make clear its feelings via its appointed representatives on the Board. But ultimately the MFC Board are responsible for any/all decisions with regards the running of the Club.

Miller was ploughing a lone furrow most of the time with little or no support but at least he offered something in an otherwise poor midfield. For the boys sake I hope he finds a good club in the window if that's what happens but from a purely selfish point of view I would like to se him stay and help to get us back on track. Personally I don't think we've looked the same team since he was injured.
