In the great scheme of things, not a huge issue, but that was a stick on red card. Foul was committed well after ball was played.

You talking about the Killie game?

At the game I thought it was a red. He was late and his studs were up. Looked like he caught him on the knee.

Was hard to tell how much force was used and Im not sure the tv pictures help with that.

Given that the ref was right there and immediately gave the red card, Im not sure how they could justify the overturn.

PS I think it is an issue. At 1-1 and Killie down to 10 men, you would have to fancy our chances. Particularly as we scored right after that.

The VAR and AVAR are never required to justify their decision-making in the context of the rules. And when they do, it’s through Collum, who’ll twist and turn things to protect his idiots. There’s zero accountability, no incentive to reflect on their decisions or learn from their mistakes, and therefore no prospect of any improvement.

Yes. When the "challenge" was started, the ball had been played. Stanger had only one intention and that was to injure Lowry, preferably seriously. Born out of frustration? Maybe. Irrespective, clear violent conduct and a straight red.

Not sure his intention was to injure Lowry, dont know if he is that sort ofnplayer. But he certainly made no attempt to lower his studs. Whether that was an attempt to protect himself or not, it was certainly endangering an opponent. So I agree, red card was appropriate.

This is a squad photograph after Ian St John in 1961, and before  Pat Quinn (the pre-Iniesta Iniesta) left us for Blackpool, who were an excellent side in  those days.

Our creaking main stand looks rather fresh in them days.

Glad you enjoyed it, me old haricot. Willie (Billy to his family, apparently) was my hero too. Pity I missed Pat Quinn by a year; my brother and all his pals thought he was a genius.

They say you should never meet your hero but I did meet Willie and his wife by chance in Glasgow before Covid IIRC,  and he was a complete gentleman and his wife graceful, explaining that the 'Well forwards and HBs would work on routines in training and Bobby Ancell would generally leave them to it,  once he's picked the team. He had faith in their ability.

Some very talented players in that squad, evoking happy memories from a very different era.
