steelman1991
A minute's silence, impeccably observed at the Celtic Women v Glasgow City game this evening. Must admit to being plesantly surprised that it even took place.

The worst thing about it is the red poppy being hijacked by all the different factions. If people want to promote a particular cause on remembrance day then they should choose their own emblem and leave the poppy alone and respect what it stands for. Unfortunately in this day and age its my way or the highway for the more extreme elements of society who might not even have had the freedom to express their views if it wasn't for the sacrifice of all our young men and women. Sorry for the rant but it's something that truly pisses me off no end.
well_said
This country of ours would've a far better place without the arse cheeks. The other forty clubs have that option but choose not to use it for some reason

Both sides are as bad as each other. From the anti-poppy crowd making a song and dance about their views, being critical of people who wear one, and the pro crowd doing the same, taking to social media to question the integrity and patriotism of those who dare appear on their television screen without one on. Social media has a lot to answer for in that regard. Take the online side of things out of the equation and it suddenly isn't that big a deal. But long before social media was a thing, folk used to write to Points of View every year moaning about which TV presenters weren't wearing poppies and which were showing off by wearing the ones with the extra green bits. Just like Casey who didn’t wear a poppy on Saturday. It seems that Casey did wear one, so I’ll correct that for the record. Regardless, my point remains. steelboy
It's getting a bit harder to take it seriously now the youngest WW2 veterans are mid 90s.

It's not just about the veterans that are still alive. Both my grandfather's were involved in WW2 and although no longer with us they sacrificed a lot. Everyone has their own views which of course is allowed. I am sure some of our fans on Saturday don't agree but they didn't resort to the disgraceful scenes yesterday ( well apart from the guy drying his hands in the toilets at back of hunter stand) 🤪🤪

joewarkfanclub
For what its worth, I have every respect for those who have served and even more so for those that have given their lives in the service of their country. I have little respect though for the majority of politicians who send our brave lads n lassies into danger. Very rarely has it ever been for the right reasons. Power & greed are usually the order of the day. I would never disrespect a minutes silence, but I no longer wear a red poppy, mainly due to the insistence of the same politicians that not doing so is in some way unpatriotic. I will continue to stand silently and wear a white one for peace, in the hope that no more of our sons & daughters have to die needlessly in the name of politicians who could never do what they do. 3
