That's who I'm thinking as well now that its been confirmed he's still at the club, but if that was the case would the club not have announced it right away?

Maybe he has to apply and go through due process

See Robbie neilson touting himself,  not the worst and plenty experience,  have him before broon etc

If we had to go for a Scottish manager he wouldnt be the worst choice. Has plenty of experience and should have enough about him to keep us up.

But he is dour as hell and that is kind of reflected in his teams.

A kind of McInnesy type appointment.

Id much rather sign up for another mystery foreign coach who wants to play high press with intensity and lots of goal shoots! 😉

Neilson is touting himself for our job, dundee and thistle,he's a shit manager desperate to get in anywhere he can,I hope we give him a wide berth.

Not saying that I would like to see him get the job but he has a pretty good win percentage, other than his spell in England.

Neilson had a decent record at Hearts both spells. Given he played at right back, he might even know how to organise a defence.

Wouldn't be my first choice, but can't see him ending up at Fir Park anyway,

Most of they wins would have came in the championship when at hearts and utd.he seems to do well at that level,I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at thistle or ross county if the get rid of there manager.

Good point, had forgotten about that. Maybe championship would be better for him, certainly don't want him discovering that he's not Premier League standard whilst with us.

First spell in the Championship he won it with 21 points to spare, ahead of Hibs and Rangers, and fielding quite a few youngsters. Easier than the Premiership of course, but not a run-of-the-mill title.

In general, I have no issues employing a manager that knows our league and has had multiple successes in the Championship. But as I also said, I can't see him being who we bring in

If another manager was available who had 3 years in the championship with Neilson's record, we'd be all over it, jeez, some people want Imrie.

I don't really like Neilson, mainly because of how he comes across, but he's a good manager.

Yep, I'd like us to go for the high press, high intensity stuff...what's that Michael Wimmer character up to these days?

Just saying Neilson is one of better Scottish managers I've seen quoted.

" shit manager" ? Stats don't back that up . Like I say , I'd rather we were a bit more imaginative but if it's yo be Scottish,  wouldn't be worst.

What stats, winning games in the league below, neilson gets binned every club he's been at,I'm not saying there's going to be a queue of quality candidates to pick from but there really isn't any excuse to be settling for someone like robbie neilson.

410 games at a 50% win percentage. There's a bunch of championship seasons in there, but also taking hearts to 3rd a couple of times and winning a cup. Other championship managers have been touted on here, so I don't see why that should be a blocker.

Put his exact experience and stats on a foreign manager, and we'd be hailing it as a great appointment. Any experienced manager is going to split opinion, because you don't go 10 years in management without ups and downs.

Like I said, I don't want him because I've never really liked him, maybe that's because I don't like hearts. But the argument that he isn't good enough is silly.

Most of us want an exciting manager from outside of Scotland because it's something new, and there's the chance we find a diamond in the rough. Bringing in someone with considerable experience makes that less likely, so it's boring.

If we're using the same data metrics to appoint a manger as we did with Wimmer Neilson won't be anywhere near it.

Aye but if his house is in Edinburgh that a very big improvement over the last guy

Who cares if he's any good or fits what we're looking for, his postcode is nearby.

If that's the attitude we take I'll be after a refund on my season ticket.

The good thing is that we're unlikely to go with any of the names that have been touted. The record posted a list of dundee candidates, which included someone that a P&B poster threw out there for a laugh, so I'd ignore anything the papers say.
