Obviously I'd love to see us win and I think getting them at home on the first day of the season gives us a better chance but this will be a massive step up.

What I'd like to see is a good professional attitude.  Go out and compete.  If that gets you a result - great.

However I think every lower league team we've played so far has either scored or had real opportunities to score and against Rangers that's going to present a much bigger problem.

Our League Cup matches were a bit up and down, finishing on a high but this is a different type of test.

It'll be interesting to see how we stand up to it.

Let’s face it, if we ever get anything off these 2 it’s a bonus, I’m hopeful having a foreign manager there will be less of a fear factor so many Scottish coaches have of playing them but I would be happy to go out and play to how the manager wants and see how it goes.
the real tests are against every other side in the league.

It’s a free hit, go out and give it your all.
Hopefully they’ll be burnt out after their European exit.

Totally agree, as ever when playing the ugly sisters anything you get is a bonus, so 1st league game of the season, let's just get in their faces from the off, play our new high tempo style and see what reward it brings.

I don't see this as a free hit. This is an opportunity, very early in the season, to see how the team are shaping up for the marathon that is the league. I expect us to be brave on the ball and have much more of the game than we've had in previous meetings. I expect us to be in their faces from start to finish. I expect us to perform well and make a statement to the league that Motherwell will be a force this season.

Will we win? My heart says that we will, but my head says probably not, but I don't expect us to lose with a whimper.

In the phraseology I think. Not a free hit as such but definitely not expected to get any points

should be a good test for us to see if we can maintain our Passing game under pressure and not regress back to hoof ball. We have to believe this is the way forward and persevere and improve. I think if we can be confident in our new identity we will reap the benefits. Playing one of the OF first should make it seem less frantic playing “lesser” opposition. If we can get a couple of new faces in the door to strengthen defense and attack this could be one of the more Enjoyable seasons in a while.

Hopefully fact they are playing in Europe before they play will help. Also we have beaten them past few seasons so nothing to fear.

While it was brilliant to beat them at Ibrox I just think that beating them at Fir Park in front of the home crowd especially next Saturday first game of the season, lights on (probably) would be that bit better and more satisfying.

Can’t see it happening though.

Latest from manager, lennon may play, don't understand the situation,he apparently had a minor niggle but hasn't played any of the games.

That's usually just manager (and club) speak for "he's negotiating a move, but we're not telling journos about it until it's complete"

Minor niggles always seem to happen to players who are about to leave.

Hoping Lennon Miller plays and scores the winner

Was speaking to a fellow Well fan in work before the Morton game , asked how he thought the game would go

Bluenose listening into the conversation enquired if we were talking about the Rangers game ?  No mate we are talking about the Well game my response .  I didn't even know Motherwell were playing tonight was the response I got . Is it a friendly ?

Just shows the majority of them know nothing about Scottish football unless it involves their two Glasgow clubs

Even tried to explain to one how the Premier Sports Cup groups work and how to qualify , was apparently some bizarre situation that wouldn't have happened back in the day 🤣

They were possibly down the leagues then, he wouldn't have been supporting them at that point.

It was their first season (back) in the top flight.

And why would he not have been supporting them in the lower leagues? Rangers regularly sold out their allocations home and away while they were playing in the lower divisions at the same time as Celtic had to shut the top tier of the stand at Parkhead as their fans lost interest without Rangers in the league.

Good to see you keep up to date with what's happening at your big team.

Good to see you still “feeding the troll” as well as talking shite.

I was stating a fact. When Rangers were in the lower leagues they regularly had big crowds. A fact that doesn’t support the suggestion made by the poster I quoted that because Rangers were playing in the lower leagues their fans would have no interest in supporting them.
