Brendan Rodgers had a point when he said that fans are quick to criticise when you lose a goal that way, but are quick to forget (or not even remember) when the long ball gets returned 10 seconds later for a goal - and that happens more often. Its been a bugbear of mine for years how easily we gave the ball away. If the opposition don't have the ball they cant score. That's why I'm so interested to see how we fare this season. Will our goals against improve, what will we do if teams try to man mark us?? interesting times.
texanwellfan
There’s definitely a time for the long ball or taking the chance of getting the ball into the box but that’s what the players have to learn, making the right decision between retaining possession and taking a risk. Our normal over the past few years has involved no such decision making, it’s just been hoof the ball up and chase it.

However could we cope defensively if Hearts play that type of game against us? That is a genuine issue , the boot and rush merchants will get behind our current defence we need improvements in that area. Something Im sure the manager is working on. weeyin
JBA mentioned in one of his interviews that defending the long ball is something we are training for, but need to improve.
