Unremarkable game with a much-changed starting eleven, but job done. Why was Luca Ross at left-back? He’s an attacking winger.

I could only think that he expected County to park the bus and let him be more attacking. But maybe he has other plans for him.

Kettlewell brought 4 buses today to park plus we look for perfect goal too often but we got the win.   Fadinger and just made a difference ( jeez if only Just could finish), slatts frustrating again and young Luca looked nervy but a successful day

Every time I watch Just, I think the same. You'd think that shooting is something that could be coached into someone, but he wouldn't be with us long if he added 12 goals a season to his game.

Just is so talented as he manages to shoot on target with a speed of 5mph! 🤣🤣, love the guy and workrate phenomenal but shooting terrible but I can live with that

We managed to coach some shooting into Gboly Ariyibi, so I live in hope.

Hearts out, Hibs out.   Things are looking up

I have felt all season that Hearts are in a false position and that the wheels would come off at some point. It will be interesting to see how they react to this defeat

Having said that, for all the rightful praise JBA had been getting at Motherwell, what about McGlynn at Falkirk. They are having a remarkable season.

I’ve said the same, I think Hearts will fall away. To be fair they’ve did really well but I see a Derek McIness team playing in the same way he had his Aberdeen and Kilmarnock sides playing albeit with some better players. There is no way they will win the league. You ca bookmark my comment.

Falkirk are a good side with a manager who has worked miracles. He’s not a dinosaur either, he has his team of average players playing quite exciting attacking football. I’ve been really impressed with them this year.

I think Mcglynn has been excellent, and I'm guessing his age and scottishness is what's keeping him under the radar. You can also argue that he has had the benefit of building his team up through the lower leagues, but that's an achievement in itself.

Thought that was a pretty comfortable performance today. Totally controlled the game. Created some good chances and apart from the double save in the first half (which was offside anyway) and the one at the end, we limited them to pretty much nothing. Given the squad rotation we should ve absolutely delighted with that.

Of course we looked better after Just, Fadinger and Longelo came on, but I think it would churlish not to appreciate just how far we have come in such a short space of time.

This time last year Kettlewell was still our manager and we were getting pumped 3-0 off the very same Ross County.

Right now we havent lost a goal at Fir Park since October and we have only lost 3 in total since the Cup Semi Final.

Enjoy.

Stiffer tests are around the corner.

Today's game turned out just as I expected. Ross County park their buses and we struggle to break them down winning by a single goal or perhaps two at a push. We're through and thats all that counts.

A much changed line up that took me by surprise but it worked just after some much needed adjustment.

Maybe I'm in a minority of one but I wasn't overly impressed by Connelly today. Yes, he's excellent with the ball at his feet and pulled off one great save but also fumbled a fairly straightforward shot and looks most uncomfortable in the air.  I didn't think Luca Ross did very much but thats probably due to the role he was asked to play. Liam Gordon was my MOTM. Hardly put a foot wrong and kept White in his pocket. Priestman too impressed and he's looking useful. Really encouraging too to see Jordan McGhee slot effortlessly into the back line.

County made it difficult for us with their defensive tactics and gamesmanship, aided by a compliant referee.  However patience paid off and that forced them out of their defensive shell. In the dying stages the team assumed it was game over and became a bit sloppy but County were unable to capitalise on that slackness.

The big takeaway for me was our lack of punch in the box and it would seem that JBA agrees.

We progress but there are still potentially exceedingly dangerous cup sides like Falkirk and St Mirren lying in wait, both of whom have the necessary qualities to do well in the tournament.

A better question would be how did he compare with Ward's first few games.

If Connelly had the same run of games that Ward has been afforded he could develop to the same level.

He's too wee.

If we're playing with 70% possession, that's less of an issue.

Yes,  but we won't always have that against better teams. Ox is big and manager obviously doesn't fancy him as he cant play the ball to feet, i assume. So its really up to the manager what he wants from a keeper.

Still Andy Goram was wee and he did ok.

I noticed that they shut the Cooper Bar for a while as it reached capacity and the Centenary Bar was also mobbed. After effects of Club 100 closing so was nice to see the club benefitting and making some cash from hospitality.

I'd say not as good. Both do well on the ground but thats not the issue. Ward made the odd howler but yesterday Matty had about a 50% howler rate based on only 2 real saves admittedly. However he looks very frail in the air, much moreso than Ward did.

Yes, I'm sorry for the staff at Club 100, who lost their jobs of course, but the premises certainly piggy backed off MFC on matchdays as does the likes of Dalzell Bowling Club. Mrs Baillies was also closed yesterday for some reason and had it been open that might have taken some of the pressure off. Still, MFC would benefit yesterday from busier than usual hospitality sales.

Discussed on P & B would the club be interested in acquiring the now vacant Club 100 premises for any purpose?
