  1. Past hour
  2. Could have written the script for that reply 🤣🤣🤣
  3. Is it not a comedy night so that rules you out. Sorry I couldn't resist.
  4. Today
  5. Saw bit of open goal and talking about well, I must have missed a trick. If Ferry and Slane can make a career then anyone can, almost needed subtitles listening to them, usual sellik bias of ohhhh Jens must be certainty for well. Media doing everything to unsettle us and derail our campaign
  6. If it helps ticket sales I am definitely not one of the under radar ones 🤪🤪
  7. Two weeks away. Four brilliant comedians. One night you don't want to miss. The Big Well Society Comedy Night returns to Fir Park on Thursday 12th March and this year's line up is truly excellent. Headlining is Marc Jennings, the TikTok comedy sensation who is taking the nation by storm. He's a BBC Scotland regular, Some Laugh podcast host and a sold-out King's Theatre performer. And joining him is our own Raymond Mearns. High energy, razor sharp, completely unpredictable. He's absolutely buzzing after Jens turned up to see what all the fuss was about on Sunday night. And that's just half the line up. There's two more excellent acts still under wraps. Great comedy and great company. Every ticket sold goes straight back into the Society's fund to improve Fir Park. This is what fan-owned football looks like. This one is open to non-Society members at £10 whilst Society members get in for a special discounted rate of £8; tickets available here.
  8. Jen’s moving into politics when he gives up football.

    2026 AGM

From the limited amount that I know, If a football manager is on an open-ended contract, all it really means is that there’s no fixed expiry date. It runs until one side ends it. The label itself doesn’t tell you much, I don't think. What matters is how the exit is drafted. Everything turns on the notice period, how termination is defined, and what compensation is triggered. If the deal says six months’ notice, then that is effectively the club’s exposure. If it allows pay in lieu, the club can end it immediately and settle the notice amount. If there are enhanced protections, minimum guarantees, or specific bonus treatments written in, that changes the equation. If there’s a mitigation clause, any new job the manager takes may reduce what he’s owed. That is where the substance sits I reckon. In football, most of the financial reality is likely driven by those mechanics, not whether the contract is open-ended or fixed-term. A three-year deal can offer far more security than an open-ended one if the payout on dismissal is stronger. Equally, an open-ended contract can still contain meaningful protections if negotiated properly. The drafting is everything. The same applies if the manager is doing well, such as Jens is now, and another club comes in for him. Open-ended does not mean he can just walk out the door from what I can tell. He is still under contract. If he resigns, he is bound by the notice provisions. In practice, mid-season departures rarely work like that. The interested club approaches the current club, permission is sought to speak, and compensation is negotiated. If there is a release clause or a clearly defined buyout mechanism, the process is cleaner. If not, the current club holds the leverage and can demand a fee or simply refuse to engage. So, for me, the distinction between fixed-term and open-ended is secondary. What actually determines power, protection, and financial exposure is how the exit terms are structured. That is where the leverage always sits.
  10. Hopefully another big crowd and for those that aren't season ticket holders and have returned this season, maybe check your seat number as it has been murder this season for me and my mate's with folk sitting on our seats and politely being asked to move

    2026 AGM

From online digging it seems to be quite a common thing in the UK - "Open-ended contracts are commonly referred to as 'permanent,' indefinite,' or 'continuous employment' contracts. However, legally, they are the same, as they indicate that the contract is not fixed term and has no defined endpoint." From what I can find it seems these contracts routinely include a notice period which can be invoked at any time by either employer or employee. The notice period will be whatever period the parties agreed originally. 3 months is fairly common. I guess, if both sides agree, an early release can be negotiated. From our point of view I suppose it would save us having to pay out a year or more's wages were a Manager to be sacked mid contract The downside would be that we would not be due compensation if a Manager worked his notice before leaving, or receive only a small amount in compensation if another team were keen to take him without any delay. Far from being an expert so if anybody knows any better please chip in.

    2026 AGM

I wasn't at the AGM this year, but have read a few online accounts. It does seem as though the Board is keeping its cards close to its chest, unlike in previous years. Some interesting points though about JBA's contract, the Lennon Miller deal and stadium issues. To address your point Parko, I've no idea what an open ended contract is and neither does anyone else outside of the Boardroom. A very curious turn of phrase.
  13. Good point Parko. The AGM is probably worth a thread on its own, which I'll start.
  14. Was interested to read the latest update from the club AGM - part of which covered the Stadium options study, "state of the pitch" and also confirmed that the manager is on an open contract -which i guess means he can walk with the club receiving no compensation (if I'm understanding that right) Full article is here: Tickedy App
  15. I think it’s fairly certain that no matter how much we could offer JBA any decent sized club can easily top any monetary offer from us. So pretty much it’s all Down to JBA and how much is he enjoying his work, how much does he want to stay and see how far he can take Motherwell and is he confident and patient enough to wait another year or so to move into a much higher paid position. Hopefully MFC are already making a short list of options to replace JBA when he leaves. Is that our current assistant? I don’t know. Whoever it is has to continue the approach that JBA has established.
  16. I have a feeling that he’ll stay for another season if the following happens, TJ is sold for +Ā£5M and a quality striker replacement has been identified and bought, if a daft bid is made only one of the midfield is sold and replaced, as with Watt, Just, Fadinger, Nicholson, Priestman and our youngsters we have a great core midfield which could lose one and still be strong while a new midfielder gets up to speed with our system - Slattery will leave in the summer so I’m not including him. Defence is where the money should be used most to strengthen the team. although with European games (should we make it, which is extremely likely) causing extra pressure on the squad it might be we need to increase the squad to provide more depth but I’m hopeful - on what I’ve seen of them so far this season - that our youngsters will step up and provide some of that.
  17. Definitely, if We win both games it piles the pressure on rangers and Celtic. They have a cup game as well as a league game to kick lumps out of each other. its hard to see us winning all of our remaining games but likewise it’s also hard to see any of the top 6 teams winning all their games. This is why it is important to focus on one game at a time. You can only win one game at a time. I didn’t mention Hearts but we need them to be dropping points. With respect to finishing above the arse cheeks we already have that within our own control.
  18. Its a big If, because we are Motherwell & have no right to assume we will beat SPL teams, but IF...... we win these 2 games in hand thats 6 points bagged at a time only 1 of the old firm could collect 3 points. Ideally they draw & we make it 5 points on them both. IF that happens, the narrative changes because the table will show it loud and clear! IF......🤣
  19. Great listen! Subscribed! šŸ§”ā¤ļøšŸ§”
  20. As the team playing catchup, we definitely cant afford to be dropping points against teams in the bottom 6 if we have any real aspirations of winning the league. Winning all our games will be a big ask, but if we did, Id be pretty confident 83 points wins the title.....
  21. We have 11 games to play, 33 points all of them massive games, win them all and who knows where we will end up. We have missed two big opportunities for sucess so far this season, so lets hope we can be the best we can be in the run in and maybe it will be 3rd time lucky for the biggest prize of all, coyw.
  22. I think the scottish press are trying to a job of that as they all seem to just assume Jens will go to Sellik. Usual plan just to unsettle team. Hopefully all ignored by Jens and players and we focus on remaining 11 games. We cant afford any slip ups so here's hoping for another huge crowd to roar on the lads. COYW
  23. If we can get wins against both the Dundee teams we are 100% in the title race. Any less than 6 points I think the dream may be derailed
  24. If Fadinger starts he's probably a straight swap for Priestman, but it would be rough on any of Saturday's midfield if they were dropped. They bossed it.
  25. (Assuming we dont win it) I hope hearts win the league by 3 points after playing one more home game than the OF. A joint OF conspiracy crusade would sustain me through the summer. For us, I'm hoping we have a home game in the last week of the season so I can come home and see this team in the flesh just once. (I wouldn't go to Rangers or celtic away even if we could win the league there, and tickets would be tricky for the other games. ) For Saturday, Fadinger should be back, and you could see him coming in for any of the midfield 3. I'd hate to see Slattery dropped for inventing cheating, but Priestman would be very unlucky to miss out, and Watt just makes us much better. Other than that, I don't expect much rotation. It should be our best XI after a weeks rest. Utd wont be easy, and I can see them sitting in. We will once again give up a golden opportunity to the opposition in the first 5 mins, then after that hopefully we can settle into our game and be patient.
