  1. Past hour
  2. That was ridiculous given the conditions (even an Aberdeen player asked the ref. not to send Oscar off and fair play to him) but the referee surpassed himself by sending off Gordon for denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity on the central circle with two covering 'Well players plus GK between the Dons player and the goal. Unbelievable, but that's Scottish refereeing for you.
  3. The biggest problem with any change of league structure is the tv deal. Sky want 4 × The Rangers v Celtic games a season, end of. We can advocate for bigger leagues and we all know it would help youth development and reduce the issues that come with familiarity, but if Sky say no, and no one else will pay, its dead in the water.
  4. Well, now another team can share in the disappointment ‘cause it has happened to us on several occasions. Preistman’s red V Aberdeen in the cup would be one of more recent ones I can think of.
  5. Ha! Ha! Fairy Nuff. I will thrash myself with birch twigs 🤣 😁😆.
  6. Far too fair . No room for fairness on here, thank you very much.
  7. Yes, that would be the thinking, but it’s only an option. We would need to be confident of 18 strong teams and that the second league wasn’t too weak.
  8. A well thought out and balanced post Denny and I agree with it in full. From Brian's message, it appears there are ongoing maintenance problems with the McLean Stand also. What the club has done has been to put in place a short term solution, if it can be called that, for the POD. I understand the need for that, although I'm not impressed with the actual solution that was implemented. What is now badly lacking is an indication of the club's preferred solution for the way ahead i.e. replace the POD or move to a new stadium. I read on P & B earlier today that the Club Directors received the Feasibility Study back in February. Now its understandable that they would want to consider the findings and conclusions carefully and not to rush into making any rash decision. However, we are now 7 months further on and we haven't heard anything; not a single thing. Thats not consistent with us being a fan owned club. I agree with your comment on the Society and its passive role as a gatekeeper over the POD seating issue. Like you, I assume that it does not wish to get involved in the seating issue. Thats strange, given all the other consultations that it has launched. I still don't know if the Society Board has even discussed the issue, despite asking. As you say, we shouldn't be having this discussion. But we are where we are. On the field of play, we have made great progress as a club and the Board and management deserve great credit for that, especially in light of the upheavals over the summer. It was right of Brian to call out Celtic and their hordes and that needs addressed. A pity therefore that the club and Society has let the fans down in one specific area.
  9. Never realized how many passes led up to that goal. 21 I counted. Amazing stuff from us.
  10. If it was sellik player imagine the uproar 🤪🤪
  11. Hibs quarter final in 2022 maybe, 1st min.
  12. Are you MJC....Are you MJ.................sorry folks 🤣🤣
  13. Today
  14. I've seen Arbroath beat us more than once when we were supposedly the superior side.
  15. Have to say, when I saw it on the pitch I thought it was a bit harsh. A yellow, certainly, but I would have been disappointed had it happened to a 'Well player in those circumstances. Am I being too fair? 🤣
  16. I remember Bevis getting a red very early on, in cup game I think it was, for less.
  17. As an aside, Emmanuel Agyei's red card was upheld today at an appeal. What a surprise!
  18. My small brane can't really cope with this but I hope to learn:
  19. Even I could teach him a few things, me old haricot!
  20. If we were 3pts clear going into final game of season I would gladly love Arbroath at home! 🤣🤣
  21. I don't bet on us as don't want to jinx us but if you fancy another 3-2 well we are 45-1 with willie hills
  22. Ok so the two lower leagues would play 3 times and then a split for 5 single games, same as the top league does now?
  23. Could teach tam Cowan a few things 🤣🤣
  24. I certainly hope so. I still marvel at his command of English as a second language: puts some of the churnalists to shame.
  25. A very balanced assessment, as a PODite with back pain (and awaiting Bovril-scalded head/knees). I have to say the management recruitment by the Board in the last two seasons has been exceptional and visionary. Also, its criticism of Celtic's supporters has been well-timed to avoid accusations of sour grapes. The scenes at FP in our last home game almost made me wonder what was the point of watching football any more when the entire Celtic entourage broke onto the field to celebrate their tarnished "victory" after the dreadful refereeing/VAR decisions. I think we could have a very exciting and productive season this year because our squad seems strong and committed. Both of The Cheeks are under pressure. Hearts may be on the up now their manager has had a chance to put his feet under the table and we need more competition to put the OF under pressure. Hibs might recover from their derby disappointment and St Mirren also seem to have turned away from the Dark Path of kick and rush.
  26. It would make it harder. This reminds me of VAR when most people just wanted it through without actually thinking about the inevitable consequences. Last season Hearts took 7 points vs 4 points against Celtic. That's the way to win the league. If you expand to 18 teams you will end up with probably 10 teams about the level St Johnstone and Killie are at currently plus clubs like ourselves would have less money to bring in players due to smaller crowds and the TV money being reduced and split an extra 6 ways. The average league game would be far easier for Celtic and Rangers than it currently is. Personally I think anyone who would rather play Raith Rovers or Morton over the Old Firm, Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen is off their nut. Look at our final two home matches last season. Fir Park was jumping for 4th matches versus Hearts and Celtic, absolutely no one was wishing we were playing Arbroath instead.
