again I'm not sure Id put the Dundee game into the bad game category as the Aberdeen and to a lesser extent the Rangers game. Sure it was a hard loss and it being the 3rd on the trot I think it altered the perception of how we actually played. Had we gone up there unbeaten and got a point I don't think people would have said we were pish yesterday. Sure there were things we could have done better, esp in the final 3rd, but Dundee wouldn't have beat us if we hadn't beat ourselves. Dundee were very lucky to get that win.

I get that 100% mate , last year was probably once in a lifetime stuff for us and it will be hard for everyone to adjust to what will be or new norm ... sadly

Nice to see you fighting the good fight. I think this is a really good summary of where we are. We are giving Dundee no credit for their performance. The assumption is that Dundee are shite when in actual fact they have made a very solid start to the season. The reaction to the last three games has been eye opening to say the least. The good will of the last 18 months has been wiped out in 15days. Is that really any display of a commitment to the cause? 15 days ago Rangers fans were calling for Derek McIness to be sacked. Look at the goodwill at Ibrox now. Having saved Celtic's season last term, MON was booed at Parkhead today. A football fans support is very fleeting and transient and based almost purely on emotion. There was a BBC article during the week discussing if Hibs should follow the Motherwell blueprint for manager recruitment. Is that blueprint now redundant because we are on a run of three bad games? Remember JBA lost to Dundee back in April will a not too dissimilar performance. We need some perspective .

I will be honest, wasn't convinced when he joined, felt the lack of playing experience and age combined made for a combination that players may find difficult to get behind. Someone close to your own age that has never done your job telling you what to do, how to do it and that they know better can be a difficult pill to swallow. I know it can be done and has been done before, but I just get the impression AJ doesn't have the right personality to back it, he doesn't come across as someone that has a lot of presence about him. I don't think (just from observation) that the players have baught in and there are several operating right now way below their usual standard. Not all on the manager, the players need to sort themselves out. He will be given time, but I hope that we don't do our usual and cling on too long before pressing the button on it. We've seen it before with the drop off in attendance etc and after all the good work we have done getting numbers up I'd hate to see it all be undone.

I think you're right that that my disappointment is basing on last season. It's very hard to shake. My initial point was to show it's not just the last 2 -3 games, it's been choppy for the last 8. This season we got off to a very decent start, particularly with the Euro games - I thought we were going to be for another treat but I personally feel we're regressing . BUT you have a very fair comparison to last season and in truth is the core of where Im struggling. It was such a revelation . Even the first 7 games when we'd 8 points I felt we were on the up, only getting better. Some of the draws we were unlucky eg Falkirk and letting Hearts back in the game at Tyncastle. I initially thought we'd brought in some upgrades but I'm not seeing much of that. Ward, Welsh, Watt, Just would all walk straight into the team I think. Moorman and Lowry both been pretty good but that's probably about It for now (albeit some may prove to be very good over time)

Who is this coyw , is he a new player and have we upgraded from three names to four names.š

and that is fine and that is your opinion based on how you see it. I don't agree 100% . I don't the the manager is taking us further away each week. We played well at Easter Road against a poor Hibs Team and strolled the game against Dundee Utd because they had 10 men . I think our performances have been much of a muchness. I just don't think we are as good as last season and we wont be because we've lost better players than we've recruited. I don't subscribe to the notion we've been garbage and getting worse. I think we are inconsistent during games but the one consistent thing is we have is fuck all threat up front and the manager is not being more adventurous in his team selections and we've lost two game by literally putting the ball in the net for the opposition.
-
Shouldv took him off n put sod on at least he whips a decent ball inn
-
Got 3 weeks till our next game so hopefully a lot of analysing from AJ and coaching team. It would be absolutely awesome if we bounce back with a win v sellik but I think we definitely insist on a performance to give us confidence and also personnel changes
-
The fact is that performances have declined the more time the manager has had to implement his ideas. We saw that with the 10-day break between the Rangers and Aberdeen games, so the concern is that this slide continues over the next three-week break. In other words, he takes the team even further away from where they were last season, which is exactly what he says he isnāt doing. The evidence to date, however, suggests otherwise.
-
Couldn't agree more.

Maybe wind affected both half's yesterday . Sparrow was guilty of passing backwards from a forward position more than anyone in the second half. Thor should get a proper run out he rumbles up defences in the box and can hold up play should long ball be required. A windy day playing with the wind , as the second half yesterday, should have been perfect for him. Also maybe the team will be moving forward faster more once Preistman is back.

I could happily live without pointless speculation when things are going against us because pointless speculation becomes corrosive rumour that gets built into something based on absolutely nothing. There is plenty from the facts we can all discuss.

No point looking at European games they will never mean bugger all because we will either play team below our level or way above. The only stats that count are 1 x LC = Lost (shocking and frankly should never have been allowed to happen and 100% on managers shoulders ) 7 x League = Won 2 , Drawn 2 , Lost 3 ... = 8 points but for 2 absolute gifts from the goalkeeper, which no manager would have prevented it would be 7 x League = Won 2 , Drawn 4, Lost 1 ... To read and listen to some of the stuff you'd think we've been outplayed every game we've played. 7 Games last season read 7 x League = Won 1 , Drawn 5 , Lost 1 = 8 Points (and just to calm things down before the onslaught in two weeks time we lost at home to Falkirk in the 8th game) šš¤£ Performance are not as good as last season and they wont be cos we've lost too many really good players. If you are going to judge us by that benchmark you are permanently going to be disappointed.
-
But itās not panic, is it? And the forum would be pretty dull without a bit of fan speculation.
-
Last 8 games won 1 drew 1 lost 6 conceded 17 scored 6 some of those games were tough eg Europe , Ibrox Points arenāt brilliant on those games . performances also mixed bag . Think the majority are aligned that performances need to pick up . Some players need swapping in and out .
-
I disagree asking questions if the manager has lost the dressing room or do players not respect him cos he's never played the game after 7 games is crazy, that is not fair criticisms, that's pure and utter baseless speculation.
-
Thereās a huge difference between panic and fair criticism, and what weāre seeing on the forum at the moment is clearly the latter.
-
Yes but has he used the squad to its full extent? He has a squad that he can mix up a bit and needs to start doing it. I do think we have persevered with Maswanhise to protect his saleability for January but he is nowhere near good enough to keep being an automatic first choice , same for RCC (although he is now rightly on the bench) . He needs to try some different picks / formations cos 2 or 3 others either cant do what we need or just ain't up to speed with it yet.

As some of you may know I'm one of the biggest pessimists on the planet when it comes to Motherwell. I've had 55 years of primarily bone crushing disappoint and yes there are some issues. However all but for two absolutely honking goalkeeping errors, which no manager can legislate for , not even Pep Guardiola , we'd have had a point at Ibrox and Dundee. So as much as our form has dipped Id argue had we got a point from both those games, which goalkeeping howlers apart, we'd have got and were sitting 4th on 10 points everyone would be a lot calmer. We are in danger of over analyzing everything and seeing or creating stories that have ZERO basis of fact. For fuck sake everyone take a deep breath and calm down. Having watched us for 55 years I know when to start panicking and 7 games in isn't it.
-
We've spent a fair wedge on players over the summer and AJ has had our largest war chest ever. Its not unreasonable to expect some return on that. I get though that new players take time to settle.
-
I think all the recent comments are spot on. The midfield is not in anyway like last year. Last year the midfield hunted in packs they always had at least two out balls sometimes three. This year there is not the same movement, so we end up having plenty of possession at the back and we end up with slow, slow, slow build up. The opposition have time to funnel back and then we try a risky pass and loose the ball, or we try a long ball to our midgets up front. There doesn't seem the same intensity, really worrying.
-
I still stand by that I don't think our standard is particularly poor in large parts of then game, however it comes to fuck all because 1. We have fuck all up front. Maswanhise is a waste of a Jersey right now and RCC aint much better. 2. We play the press far too slowly allowing teams to counter our movement 3. The engine in the midfield is under powered so far , we need Priestman back or those in position to up their standard and pace of play. 4. We are gifting some comical goals right now, not through anything other than our own bad judgement. These 4 issues do not require a full fundemental reset, which Id be more worried about.
-
I see your emojiās but wouldnāt surprise me if some people would have him in that position. i do think we have some over reaction to recent performances but then again, everyone entitled to their opinion. Yes, there are issues, which probably seem worse after some of the nice stuff we played earlier this season. Hopefully AJ can sort our lack of threat up front. Weāve shown we can keep possession which is our best form of defense but we have to stop going behind in games to take that approach.
