At least Sparrow recently extended to 2027, so if does decide to make the move we can set our price. Would prefer to see him stay, though. I'm also happy to see that it looks more and more likely Miller will move abroad. His Dad is certainly talking that up.

I realise there is an element of sarcasm involved here, but surely its only the cheap option if you have no plan and you take the option thats right in front of you? If you have gone to the bother of succession planning the right candidate (IF thats what has happened) then I would commend it.

Or "lo barato sale caro" as my Spanish speaking colleague likes to remind us from time to time. (Cheap turns out expensive)

Known in Lanarkshire circles as "the cheap option."

He’s got a decent CV: https://uk.linkedin.com/in/max-rogers-34442042

Hopefully, although he did also spend 3 years working for Aberdeen and St Mirren, and his last job was being assistant to someone who played for Celtic for 7 years.
-
Brian Caldwell will know him from their time together at Shrewsbury.

Seems like a solid appointment and looks like we have followed a similar process to the managerial one to get the right candidate in. I wonder if there is a bit of succession planning there and we might be going down the old Liverpool "bootroom" route? Style, identity, promote from within.... Would certainly make things simpler as and when Jens moves on......

Nearly fell off ma chair when ah saw the photo. Thought Malpas was back! 😆😆😆

Would prefer not to see him go right now when its clear Miller will be away. But I guess we cant be too sniffy about any reasonable offer that comes in for any of our players. Quite pleased that we have a few right now that could command a fee with Slattery and Maswanhise being the other 2 obvious ones. Not the Miller millions, but as a club this is our business model and we need to roll with it. The timing would make things a little trickier for the new manager though as he tries to assemble his squad for the new season.

Someone out of the box and not indoctrinated in the SPL way of thinking. What's not to like. We're certainly blazing a trail and hopefully it all comes good.
-
A bit unusual these days new managers usually bring in their own team of assistants etc, but his CV looks decent so welcome to the club.
-
This should probably be in the Ins and Outs thread but I wouldn't dismiss it. 22 years old, runs all day, 6 goals in 21 starts most of them at wing back. Someone may show an interest...

There’s a rumour on Twitter that Wimbledon are interested in Sparrow. Feels unlikely.

Looks like Dean Cornelius is heading to Ross County, with his contract at Harrogate Town not being extended.

I love McGhee. The man is absolutely hilarious.

Undoubtedly. There is no way Alexander phones up a journo after this length of time and begs to be given column inches to get something off his chest. The journo has clearly taken the SK line and decided to try and dig some dirt. Of course GA could have said, "thats ancient history, I have nothing to say" and clearly didnt, taking the opportunity to have a go, but really? Who cares......
-
Wait until we play Killie for the first time. You can just imagine the headlines.
-
That thought had crossed my mind also , after everything that happened with Stuart Kettlewell I wouldn't put it past the media to be asking our ex manager's for an opinion
-
He was probably asked about it by a journo.

Good post, we definetly need something to be cheerful about with a new season approaching I was 100% behind Michael Wimmer, and also 100% behind Jens now hoping he will bring some new ideas
-
I agree. Wasn't all negative
-
He's been with his wife 18 years. I understand the point you are making but I would think 18 years on and four kids later that she's happy enough to be marrying him

To be fair to both GA & SK they both added value during their time. Neither appointment is statistically poor - particularly not in comparison to likes of Kampman. Davies, Black, Malpas. Worth remembering both helped us get out trouble in their first season. both had win records of 40% over their total tenure. The article reads more as GA having a level of empathy for a fellow manager, which managers will always back one another. When he GA left he was very complimentary to the club. What I didn't like about either manager was their style of play and thought both came across as fairly arrogant, which many fans didn't care about until we went on poor runs. Anyway hopefully we can get some fresh blood in the team and give us all something to be cheerful about.
