Aberdeen v Motherwell 18/02/2026 Cup π

Thought the big striker was like a fish out of water tonight. Hopefully he settles in, but on that performance I see no improvement from what we had/have. -
Reimburse the fans for what?If you are implying that the team gave up and didnt try then you must be watching a different game from what i watched nine men where fighting for everything.
-
Another thing can we just stop referees going to the var screen and just go with the VAR officials decision. As VAR want to re referee the game it would save alot of time. Between the advantage rule and clear and obvious the officials dont have a clue.
-
Phew!! π€£π€£

Why did VAR not look at a penalty for us when similar to Priestman, Aberdeen player falls over the ball and wipes out our player in the box? As i said VAR wants to chop of goals or send players off and then misses obvious mistakes by referees. Mind you we would have missed the penalty. Perhaps the club should reimburse our away support tonight. They at least did not let us down.

Congratulations, that was funny.

Every player that started for Motherwell tonight is a Premier League full time professional. Every player that started has made a contribution to a very successful season to date. The gameplan was thrown out the window after 3 minutes. It is very easy with the benefit of hindsight to say that the starting 11 would not have won that game tonight. We will never know because of the way the game started.
-
I was waiting for that π
-
Once surely.........π€ͺπ€ͺ

Spot on with that, Bjorgolffson contributed feck all, as did Maswhanise to be fair
-
Would have won if Stama was still here π€£π€£
-
And I stand by that opinion.
-
I'm not agreeing....you said i wasn't funny π€£π€£π€£

I think come next few days we will all be a bit more calm. I have been more animated tonight than I have been in years but mainly cause I started to think this could be our year and I just think JBA made huge blunder with line up. But we move on and a win v st mirren would be perfect tonic
-
Well said, great post π

Hear hear.

Potentially the biggest error though was starting Bjorg and putting JT out wide. Completely neutralised us up top. It's no coincidence our red hot form has occurred since JT was moved to striker.
-
They will if they all adopt that attitude, the season is not over, we have secured another year as a top flight team, are still able to win the league, and qualify for Europe so lots to play for. Tonight was another big opportunity missed ruined by two red cards that were a feckin disgrace, but as ive always said lucky teams win cups, and the only luck we had tonight was bad. A rare bad day at the office in a season of great days so onwards and upwards and see how far up the league we can finish
-
Player rotation to save legs for what game? Was tonights game not one of our most important? Left back cover raised its head tonight. Sparrow cant play effectively there. ODonnell is better in the middle than Gordon. Gordons positioning and decision making is poor. Cant see Gordon getting another contract with us. To many players made wrong decisions, but you need a bit of luck to win a cup and we had none.

I think itβs a bit hard to blame the team selection when the game plan goes out the window after two minutes. We donβt know if it was going to work. Connelly other than that one mistake with the pass was excellent tonight. Once it goes to 10-10 we looked like we were getting back into the game and then the second red which to me was just mental. He wasnβt the last man and has two covering defenders ahead of the striker. Itβs a really odd decision, similar to the Celtic one earlier in the season that was also not a red. Game is done once we go down to 9, but we still created a few chances. I agree you maybe go with your best side, but we could still have gone down to 9 with that team too. Hard to criticise team selection based on the way the game went.
-
I think itβs fair to criticise Jensβ decision making tonight despite how well weβre playing in the league. Changing your keeper for no reason is daft and it was proven to be within 5 minutes. Any time weβve played without Welsh, OβDonnell has played at CB but he chose to play a rusty Liam Gordon which also went on to cost us. The first 2 reds are probably correct but Gordonβs red is a joke. Why choose to massively alter the team in a knockout game when we have a great chance to get deep into this competition?

Sarcasm is lost on you.

Are you Steven Craigan? You've been waiting to stick the boot into our Jens.
