I think our wires are being crossed here. Vogt was brutal today...I aint denying that and he should have been hooked half time. However....2nd goal was sparrow- SOD double act, nowt to do with Vogt. I also don't think Vogt should ve anywhere near starting line-up today
-
Spot on - whilst perhaps not the perfect player he offered a lot more than ive seen from others and like are have said is physical - given how weak we’ve been in midfield it was an odd decision . Particularly given priestmans known injury
-
Think others have said that he’s trying to play last seasons football if it’s not in his dna then he’s going to need to implement what is quickly to see if he can turn it round it’s currently passive, slow, sideways with no real purpose said this in the match thread, twice early we put it in behind & caused issues, surely u look at that & go their fragile there & lock it in we never put a dent in an abysmal Celtic defence today because there was no real ambition to go at them really don’t know what this managers style actually is
-
The manager.
-
I did not see the game today so I don't know just how bad it was but there are a few things that would make me think that there is somewhat of an overreaction here: 1. MJC and Wellfan are cheerleading the Manager out rhetoric which they have done with some glee with pretty much every single manager we have had. 2. Two of this 4 game Armageddon run has involved the Old Firm. Rangers are on a 6 game unbeaten run and Celtic were always going to react after their OF humbling. I still believe Celtic will win the league if MON has his eye back on the ball. 3. Much as we hate to admit it the Dundee defeat was against a good side that are clearly in form just now. There has to be some perspective that we have no right to beat these teams just because JBA was our manager last year. 4. The Aberdeen result was a bit of a freak result. 4 shots, 4 goals. There is no doubt however that this particular game did rock our confidence somewhat. I see MJC calling for Steve Clarke. When are we going to realise that the old Scottish ways of playing football died in the 1980's. We are miles behind the rest of Europe both at club level and internationally. The WC was a complete failure. Motherwell have at least tried to break the mould and did so spectacularly last term with JBA. I applaud what the club has tried to do this year. It may still work but if it doesn't we can at least see the rationale behind the decision making. Our situation reminds me somewhat of Ian Cathro at Hearts. That experiment did not work, not because Cathro was a poor manager, as he has since proved but because the environment was not conducive to him being successful in Scottish football. I hope at least, that AJ is at least provided the opportunity to show what he can do despite the default position of a minority of the support.

What is the football philosophy of the board? If it’s exciting, possession based football, Alfred has already demonstrated that he isn’t going to deliver that. Nor has he showing any signs of developing young players either.
-
Yeh. The difference was that, under JBA, you could see what the team was trying to do from the very start of his tenure. There was an identity. The same can’t be said for the start of Alfred’s tenure, and that’s my biggest concern.
-
Paulsen by a distance. With creditible mentions for Seb, who ploughed a lone furrow and Said who showed more in his brief cameo than most of the others combined.
-
Uv said he wasn’t a big reason we’d lost….absolutely disagree with that we were ripped apart time & time again down that side because he doesn’t work…..it’s also not a coincidence as soon as he went off we had our only spell in the game he’s been dreadful from day 1 simply because of his effort & application he’s a big part of the reason we lost….& the managers a big part of the reason for picking him
-
He certainly had a bit of physicality about him, which was sorely missing today.
-
Alfred absolutely isnt going to be sacked anytime soon. The board have chosen a football philosophy for the club and appointed a manager to implement it. They simply have to stand by their man and give him time. However, he does have to start demonstrating he understands the problems and that he is able to coach improvement into the team and our performances. Jens didnt start well as far as points were concerned, but he was able to point to performances and quality of play as signs that things would get better. Right now our performances are getting worse and we are not picking up any points. One of those things needs to change.
-
How the manager and coaching staff could let Olly Whyte go out on loan and retain Vogt is a complete mystery to me. Whoever made that call should get their arse booted and hard. Olly Whyte looked a really good prospect in the games I watched him play and we should cut short his loan spell and give him a slot in our midfield because I think he has the bite that we lack in there.
-
Going for big Seb. Really like the guys workrate and his desire to press. He's also shown today that he can harass defenders and hold the ball up. I'm conflicted on Paulsen. He's becoming good for an opposition goal every week now. He messed up against Dundee then at Rangers and I'm totally convinced he should have kept that one out today. After both though he has been vital in keeping the scorelines respectable.
-
Vogt was terrible today, I never denied that
-
There’s no denying we are in a transitional phase but I’d expect to see some sign of incremental improvement - in performances if not results. We know our season won’t be decided by results against Celtic or Rangers but by what we do against others but at present there’s not much comfort to be had. We were 2-0 up at St Mirren and lucky to get a 3-3 draw. We beat Dundee Utd 2-0 at FP but they had to play the bulk of the game with 10 men. We looked clueless and toothless against Falkirk in a 0-0 at FP We lost to Stenhousemuir in the League Cup and we got utterly flossed 4-0 at home by a piss poor Aberdeen side. We’ll see if you’re singing the same song after our next game at Kilmarnock!

Not gonna lie. Starting to get a bit concerned. I raised an eyebrow at the starting line up when I saw Vogt in it. However, I did feel more comfortable seeing Levitt's name on the teamsheet with what I felt sure looked like a box 4 midfield. What transpired though just looked weird. No idea why we set up the way we did with Hodge of the left. Lowry seemed to be playing in advance of Fadinger and Levitt with Vogt wide. It all appeared very lopsided. Ive heard Alfred talk throughout the break about wanting more intensity in and out of possession and about having more movement off the ball, but I didnt see any of that today. We let Celtic have the ball, didnt get in their faces, didnt track runners, didnt engage opponents in the tackle. It was so passive it was ridiculous. We were lucky to go in at the break only 1 down and the changes should have been made there and then. I really want Vogt to be a success, and he started brightly enough today, but he faded quickly again and by half time he needed hooked. Levitt was also having a very poor game, so I would have changed those 2 for Said and Kanga and moved Hodge back to the middle. The fact that Alfred waited until we were 2 down before making those changes is a real concern. As poor as we had been we were still in the game at that point and could have rescued something from the game. His comments afterwards are not filling me with confidence that he is seeing what we are seeing, or that he knows how to fix it. We now go to Kilmarnock next week where a heavy defeat could leave us at the bottom of the league. I do hope Im wrong about all of this as it IS too early to be calling for tge managers head. But its hard to ignore the alarm bells right now.

If u don’t think vogts was a big part of the issue then there’s no hope 😂 fuck being a right back with him in front of u 😂
-
The crowd was poor today but I don't think we can discount the fact that it's now A. The October break and people are possibly away. And B. That the games on a Sunday at the ridiculous time of 12 noon. I share the frustration with AJ but on the same token, he's working alongside the same coaching staff as Jens. Max Rogers was also well credited for how we performed last season so there shouldn't have been that much of a change in training methods? The loss of key players in the summer coupled with some very questionable recruitment has to be a main factor surely.
-
Was terrible today, we all know that but you can't suddenly sack a manager after 9 league games, who do we bring in? Some of the fabs reactions at game really beggar belief. I aint no happy clapper and today yes Alfred got a lot wrong , Vogt should have been hooked half time. But Vogt wasn't reason we lost. 2nd goal a shitshow between Sparrow (HE ISN'T A RIGHT BACK), AND SOD doing hard part then dugs dinner of rest. Next week now massive. Win and feelgood factor good. ALL teams have bad runs ( check st mirren highlights). In times of trouble we need to get right behind team. You think booing and giving dogs abuse is going to help? No. COYW

There is 1 major difference between McGlynn and Alfred...one has a body of work behind him that would suggest he will sort it out, while the other does not
-
We have to beat killie or he’s under real pressure for me regardless of how many games needs the right team selection & needs to show he can change it at the right times nobody wants to see a manager sacked or a player fail but sometimes u get a feeling that it’s just not quite right hopefully turn it round but the jury’s out

I said after the Dundee game that we’ll inevitably part ways with him in the not too distant future. Admittedly, I’ve not fancied him from day 1. Whilst articulate, there is no substance or conviction to what he says and he has the presence of a supply teacher. I understand that we are in transition, albeit with possibly our most expensively assembled squad this century, and I understand that others are far more patient than me. However, the alarm bells should be ringing for everyone today on multiple fronts. Alfred was brought in as a modern day head coach, what he delivered today on the back of three weeks preparation tells you all you need to know about his coaching ability. Secondly, we had two of our most exciting talents and biggest assets, both proven in the league, sitting on the bench at the expense of Willy Vogt. That simply can’t be right for a club our size and suggests that the reported fallouts with senior players at Rosenborg is repeating itself here. Last year we unquestionably had the best manager in the league. Nobody was going to fill the void left by Jens. As things stand however, we have appointed someone that is a strong contender for being the worst manager in the league. With the crowds falling and the feel good factor completely gone, the sooner the Chairman and Board can take responsibility for their poor appointment, the better. Until then, there will be little enjoyment to be had following Motherwell.

Ahh “don’t feed the troll” In other words “you and I can’t argue with anything that has been put forward by that particular poster so let’s just slink away and try to dismiss it as trolling” It’s a bit like “pant wetter” and “you’re behaving like Old Firm fans”. I’m just here to discuss the club and the team. Point of the forum surely?
-
I'm as disappointed as anyone and as yet unconvinced by the manager or indeed most of the signings but people wanting the manager sacked 8 games into the season is absolutely laughable. 8 games for fuck sake !!! get a grip. I listened to this same kind of talk when Pressley was 10 games in at Dundee.
-
Tawanda and Kanga should have started on the bench, Tawanda has been pish for months and deserves a place on the bench Kanga just isn't up to speed yet. I have no issue with the manager trying something different, including giving Vogts a start. My issue was it was very clear in the first half Vogts wasn't going to cut it today and the midfield was totally ineffective. So why did the manager wait to change it. It should have been changed at half time.... AT THE LATEST The manager watched Sparrow being shagged the entire 1st half and did nothing to protect or help him. Sparrow ain't a right back but if you ask him to do that job he should get support / help 100% the managers fault.
