  1. Past hour
  2. Why would John McGlynn leave Falkirk and join Motherwell. They’re arguably as big a club if not bigger than we are.
  3. Today
  4. Clarke definitely took a shambles of a Scotland outfit and turned it around into a team that was difficult to beat and that the players wanted to part of. And no doubt he did well to qualify for our first Euros. The way we performed in those finals was embarrassing and 100% down to his tactics. I would have punted him then, but was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt given it was our first Finals in 200 years or whatever. When we got to our second Euro Finals our performance was even worse. Literally no lessons learned from the first debacle. That, for me, was when Clarke absolutely had to go. Fair play for what he had achieved, but he had more than reached his limit as a coach by then. Anyone who watched or World Cup qualifiers could see were dead lucky to make it. Outplayed in multiple games with only moments of individual quality rescuing us in spite of the insipid tactics played. In that last game against Denmark, they battered us for most of the game. As happy as I was to see us win, and with some cracking goals, our 30% possession in must-win home tie says it all. Even with 10 men, they were the better side. It was a miserable performance with miserable tactics once again rescued by 3 moments of individual quality. A classic Clarke approach, and with no change in approach to squad selection, I expect every game to be a grind in the US regardless of how far we do or don't get. Now was the time to bring in someone more progressive and take full advantage of some of the more talented players we have available.
  5. TBH over the period Clarke has been good for Scotland BUT… why extend is contract now , we could easily , probability and likely go out with a whimper - time to replace and give someone else the opportunity . overall poor decision
  6. sadly wont happen. Clarke just been awarded a new 4 year contract
  7. Handpicking what they want to share is not transparency though.
  8. Maybe not. But in the interests of transparency we should still hear it. Even if all it does is annoy us all summer. Keeps the boiler stoked for next season and the first shitty decision that comes our way.
  9. I look forward to seeing a 38 year old Kenny McLean and Grant Hanley included, despite not even playing club football, with Clarke commenting how impressive they've looked during kickabouts with their kids in the garden.
  10. Bugger . His adventurous, cavalier, forward thinking, slick passing ,attacking style would have suited us perfectly. He would have been an asset for the club at the weekly jurno interviews aswell.
  11. At least we can rule him out for Motherwell job 😂
  12. That’s the national game fucked
  13. Beaton will be back as usual next season. I really hope his first game is at Tynecastle. No mention of him giving Celik the title at Fir Park.
  14. Nothing to see here. Sweep, sweep.
  15. I hope Lennon MIller wasn't planning to play in the 2030 Finals: "The Scottish FA has announced that Steve Clarke has signed a new deal, extending his stay through to the 2030 World Cup" As terrible SFA decisions go, this must be one of the worst.
  16. It won't make much difference regarding what is seen or heard on any VAR show. No action will be taken, no changes made, refs will still favour the OF with big calls and VAR will continue to be a pox on our game.
  17. Id love to hear the comms. But I suspect we wont, or it would probably have been released by now.
  18. It certainly seems that the board were well aware that Jens was away long before it happened, so I would agree a 3 week process from that point seems reasonable, albeit potential candidates may still be in employment up until the end of the month. Would certainly expect an announcement early June so we can get some the recruitment signed off before the players come back on June 19th. Be nice to know and be able to relax before I bugger off to the World Cup!
  19. Well, the directors can't be far away from making a decision. Recently, its taken us about 3 weeks to make an appointment. When JBA left last week, unlike last year when Michael Wimmer resigned suddenly, we were told that the recruitment process was well underway. Given that it seems the board knew about his likely departure some weeks previously, we surely can't be far off an announcement. These days, the Board is being far more professional about managerial appointments with no leaks, premature or otherwise. Evidence of that is the lack of even remotely credible media articles, if indeed they interested at all.
  20. Yes, it'll be interesting. Whether or not it was an actual penalty is now largely irrelevant. What will be be fascinating is how he analyses the process. The referee makes a call, rightly or wrongly. That decision must stand unless there is compelling clear and obvious evidence that he got it wrong. No-one, except diehard Celtic fans and some Hibs fans have seen that.
  21. I suspect that's been Mr Beaton's most commonly used phrase over the past few weeks. That's probably his JRP Gordon moment, while it supercedes the time he never spotted the Dundee goalkeeper falling into the side of the net with the ball, it's obviously going to be Hearts and Rangers that will be most aggrieved by that decision against Celtic, and they will not let him forget it. Just waiting for Collum's take on things on his monthly apology show.
  22. Yesterday
  23. I was confirming it was, although it took me a month to realise the smug annoying "actor" was Klopp.
  24. Armenian results this evening confirm us as unseeded in QR2
  25. I remember being at that game. St John nearly broke the cross bar with a header.
  26. Unless they win it, of course... then we're rich!
  27. Acording to Lanarkshire Live (the Rancid) his expected total payment is about £290K, of which we'd receive about £190K.
