I hope Longello picks it up a bit as he was a great asset with his attacking play. I do wonder, as someone mentioned, if JBA has reined him in a bit to keep us a bit more secure at the back? He certainly is not as decisive amd direct on the ball as he was earlier in the season. If he keeps playing then we know JBA is happy with his performances.
-
In a way it’s a compliment to the other coaches. He is assuming they are all experienced enough to see what we done so why treat it like a secret that nobody noticed.
-
They are sitting 2nd bottom of that championship but they do have some useful players, it’ll not be easy. Docherty isn’t that bad a manager either. we’ll see how are January form is but if we play as we can it should be progression to the next round
-
St Mirren recently must be up there.
-
Add Jordan White and James Scott. Wonder if we've ever faced a team with so many former players.
-
Longelo is much better when RCC plays as they buddy up well . Expecting a decent game, Falkirk for last couple of seasons have had a good approach to attractive football and one of the few teams who take a positive outlook . We’ve reacted brilliantly post cup exit, be fabulous to get another 3 points and keep momentum.
-
Given the change in lineup and then the way we played, the whole world could see the tactics after the first 10 minutes.
-
Could have been worse, could have been better. We should win but I will never fully trust us to win a Cup tie against anyone.
-
Yup agree about Longelo, not been too great recently, maybe clubs marking him out game more
-
Declan Gallagher, Dean Cornelius, Trevor Carson.....your boys will take a hell of a beating........
-
Home tie, excellent could have been worse.
-
Rossco at home.
-
Absolutely. If he was so minded to do so, David Gray could come on here and explain out tactics to a tee, as could other rival managers.

His interview was after the game, and our tactics were plain to see. You can only keep your tactics secret until.the game starts. With the level of analysis that's done theese days, teams will know our players and tactics inside and out before they play us, but we'll do exactly the same, so it comes down to who adjusts the best. As others have stated, I dont think JBA was commenting on Hanley's ability as much as saying he wanted to isolate the center back. Our media will jump on absolutely anything that gives them a chance to put a wee team in its place, so maybe he should have known better, but if were trying to modernize fhe club, maybe we can start with not caring about this kind of stuff.
-
Did you actually read what I said? You have misunderstood the point? The tactics were perfect and it showed in the performance and result I just think it would be better for JBA to continue to fly under the radar so that those who may have a wish to undermine his achievements have no ammunition to do so.
-
I dont think anyone is suggesting the tactic was a mistake. Just that pointing it out to everyone wasnt maybe the right way to go. Be interesting to see what happens now next game v Hibs to see if they change it or just use it as fuel to try and turn the result in their favour......
-
I disagree, I found his comments really refreshing and honest and I think he was trying to indicate to the fans why he put out that initial selection? As to be honest I think I wasn’t in the minority thinking “why is he playing this selection “ before the game. I think it shows he has confidence as well… I liked it. the only downside I see is that we have such a pig headed dinosaur Scotland manager, who will now not pick any Motherwell players as our manager has slagged off one of his “boys” who he will select and play regardless of form, and humiliate us again for the world to see in next years World Cup.
-
I thought Longelo was quite poor yesterday: hardly won anything in the air and didn't get forward (was this an instruction?). Slattery wasn't so great either and Priestman was impresssive on Tuesday so JBA might pick a new formation against Falkirk.
-
It’s been overblown but in any case should he not have been more guarded rather than revealing our tactics to the world? Gives other teams an insight to how we set up? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nonsense. Hanley is brutal and JBA knew that so he set us up to nullify the rest of the Hibs back line and put pressure on thd weak link in the Hibs defence. Anytime Hibs had the ball our pressing meant that Hanley was left alone and as such he was their only outball, JBA,s tactics were spot on and eventually won us the game.
-
It would just be funny to get one over this mob Any tie at home against a lower league side is fine by me , some more favourable than others of course
-
It’s all about progression so the weakest side at home to give us the best possible chance is what we need.
-
In context, I don't think JBA was in any way having a go at Hanley. He was just trying to explain his approach during a live interview, while grasping for a few exact words using his second language. If you listen to any of his interviews, including his pre-match against Hibs, he never has anything but praise and respect for all our opponents. What I took from this interview, was that our tactic was to target the defenders with pace and a high press, and close down their usual outlets. Meaning Hanley (and the other defenders) were having to bring it out rather than being able to pass it to their regular ball carriers like Cadden. The fabricated fuss is a bit ironic given the experts in the media make a living telling everyone how terrible certain players and mangers are on a weekly basis. And they have English as their native language (allegedly).

On reading the list of available teams, there isnt really anywhere weird or wonderful. Kelty Hearts Cove Rangers Tranent if the can get past Inverness? Camelon Not sure Id fancy Auchinleck away! Maybe a home tie against Dunfermline for a big crowd?
