  2. poor Al - he's only 27 so quite a few years behind the older pros. For me it depends on what happens with others and whether they come or go. Re Turnbull can't help but think he'd fit like a glove and who knows the call of playing attractive football , getting a game every week could be enough to persuade him. Anyway this is what happens when there's lack of games, too much day dreaming.
  3. I think Campbell would stick out like a sore thumb technically in our midfield tbh. We've already got Sparrow- who I really like- as a fairly limited midfielder in comparison to the others, but he's at least versatile and offers an outball.

  6. I love Wee Al, but regardless of his fitness, he doesnt fit our signing model any more. We want younger guys we can develop and sell on for a profit. Given he has already been away and done that, I dont think thats happening for him again. I guess you could argue that he would fit the McGinn / O'Donnell mould of experienced guys who get the club, but both of them are gonna be here next season. Do we really need another one?
  7. You wonder what's next for Turnbull. If he's only been getting 20 or 30 mins most weeks in League 1, will stepping up to the Championship do for him what Luton being promoted to the Premiership did for Campbell?
  8. If you believe the man himself, the reason Campbell parachuted in this mid-season is because he had multiple offers from England and Europe over the summer, but wanted to wait for the right one. Rather than join, say, a Scottish Championship side to get some match fitness at the start of the season, he opted for no game time. I like the guy, but something has gone seriously wrong and if Robbo couldn't help him at St Mirren he is a very long way from returning to form.
  9. No way could we afford DT's wages. I believe he wants to return at some point
  10. re Campbell. In last couple of seasons he's parachuted in mid season. I don't think he had pre season or game time in either of those seasons prior to joining Utd or StMirren. Under those circumstances very difficult to hit the ground running due to lack of game time etc. If we were to lose Watt or Fadigner at end of season I wouldn't be against having him back at FP. With a full pre season behind him I think he'd do a decent job and some of the ugly work we've been missing. Re former Motherwell boys I was thinking similar of DT back at FP. Assuming we sell Just/Slattery moving on having someone of DTs style would fit nicely.

  12. Thing is, Hibs didn’t just decide he was worth £6m. They had a club in Serie A willing to actually pay it. Once that happens, we're negotiating in a different tier. That’s what drives the fee up. Similar to what happened with Lennon. With Maswanhise, as good as he’s been, we’re not quite in that position yet. The interest, from what I've seen, hasn’t reached that same level where multiple clubs from stronger leagues are pushing the price up. That could, and hopefully will, change, of course. You don’t get £5m because a player is “worth it” in theory. You get £5m because someone is willing to pay it, usually because they think they’re getting ahead of the curve. Profile matters as well, whether people like it or not. Bowie fits the classic mould clubs across Europe want. Big, physical, leads the line, can play as a focal point. That kind of striker is harder to find, so there’s a built-in premium there. Again, we might get a fee of around £5 million for Maswanhise, but it'll be market value that determines that, not us. Unless we're prepared to knock back anything below that and risk pissing off the player, his agent, and so on. A lot of moving parts, basically.
  13. Aye Goofy is probably chairing it.
  14. The SFA have launched an independent review.
  15. His league strike rate improved from 1 in 10 with us to 1 in 5 at St Mirren, but not exactly a goal machine.
  16. Campbell been lost for quite some time, unfortunately. His form dropped off a cliff and he's struggled to regain it.
  17. Wee Matthew's rosy cheeks always make it look like he's taking a beamer, as he should've with that decision. O'Hara was booked at 2-2. If St Mirren had won, we might've have heard more about it, but it'll be seen as inconsequential now. Does Rule 77 not cover officials making Scottish football a laughing stock?
  18. Yip and the 4th official was standing 2 yards from it and did nothing Honest mistake incoming
  19. Only good thing about Celtic winning for me is 5th is guaranteed Europe should they win it Much better to finish 4th of course and hopefully will do
  20. And Celtic 6-2 up at Half Time in Extra Time and home and hosed. As much as I despise Celtic I’m happy with that. If St.Mirren had won today they would have been all but guaranteed to win the Scottish Cup and the mere thought of them doing a Cup double would have been utterly sickening. I genuinely think I would have chucked football altogether if that had happened but thankfully it won’t now.

    Slattery

They are and they probably will, and this is where i refer to my last post in response to any letter.
  22. That mandron was pish with us,lol, but better than hendry by the looks of it
  23. Alan Campbell looked completely lost today as well. Mandron equalises.
  24. Better be careful. You'll get yourself banned from all things SFA, including car parks. Next they'll be demanding the BBC cancels your TV licence so you can't comment on future cock ups by their Officials.
  25. Last week, Matthew MacDermid awards a penalty when a player lying flat on his back in the penalty box, heading the ball, gets a boot to his napper from a defender legitimately attempting to make a clearance. Today, he awards a throw-in (and no yellow card) when a player deliberately catches a ball on the field of play. And we're supposed to believe this guy knows the laws of the game.
  26. Not saying we will get £4-5m for Maswanhise, but we certainly wont get his true value if we go into any negotiations with a negative mindset. JT's form might have dropped off a little, but his numbers havent gone down. 22 goals for a guy who isnt an out and out striker is pretty impressive. Also, he has something a lot of other strikers dont have and thats pace. I fancy he will get 1 or 2 more goals before the end of the season, and I trust Brian Caldwell to get the best deal possible for us. Anyone who can get us £1.8m for Theo Bair knows how to negotiate.
