Usually Celtic have won it or are only need of a couple of points to win it at the split. So perhaps this year weβll go into the split where 4 teams actually have a chance to win it.

What I did notice yesterday while waiting outside for my mate was the amount of young kids going by with their parents. Never really noticed it before but it was great to see the amount of mums dads and kids all decked out in C&A. Can only bode well for the future.
-
Im more worried about us coming out of this tie with no injury concerns going by Aberdeens physical approach yesterday which will no doubt be the same on Wednesday. A difficult pitch won't help but as long as we don't get sucked into a physical battle and concentrate on our own game then I think we'll be fine. Might even go to extra time in this one.

Its two. Missed yesterday and will miss St Mirren. - Today

How many games is Fadinger suspended for
-
It feels like it's either Beaton or Dickinson that refs every one of our games.
-
Beaton the ref on wed, oh joy!

I thought Sassuolo was a Phil Collins song! π€ͺπ€ͺ

1998/99 was the season John Boyle bought Motherwell and started to splash the cash and the fans thought a revolution was coming. Add to that we had a couple of games with 11/12000 out with OF fixtures as Boyle tried to drum up the numbers.

If there is a football god we should win the Cup because we are the best team in Scotland. That said you don't need to be good to win the Cup as Aberdeen and St Mirren have proved. Both absolute pish and current holders of Silverware. -
This is a new era for us as fans, previously after winning a run of games we simply knew a loss would come. This season there's only been 1 game we deserved to lose and we did. At the back of my mind I know we might lose here or there but the facts are clear and hard not to expect to win - particularly given we've already won 3x and drawn with them. Let's go win the cup tie - 'well deserved.
-
I was more concerned about yesterday due to Aberdeen being an unknown quantity with half a dozen new players in. We struggled at times yesterday but Iβm sure Jens will have watched the game over a number of times already and will have sussed out the pros and cons of the Aberdeen side. itll be close again and a 1-0 is all we need but I do have a feeling it might go to extra time.
-
I think its absolutely mind blowing that we are even contemplating it. I thought those days were gone and never coming back. Of course Rangers and Celtic have both made catastrophic management appointments this season and allowed Hearts and ourselves to capitalise, but I certainly couldnt see this coming at the start of the season, and Im probably one of the happiest clappers out there. We are still a fair bit back mind you but if we can win our game in hand and secure a few more good results (particularly away from home) before the split, I think we can still be in touch going into the split where it will be all to play for.
-
Prepare and execute. That's all we can do, and so far we've been doing it pretty well. Things can happen in a one-off cup tie, but I'd rather be on our position than Aberdeen's right now.

I get that. And we have all been programmed over many, many years to think that way. I keep waiting for this bubble to burst and for us to throw in a stinker. But, League Cup semi aside (and that wasnt even that awful for the most part) it just hasnt happened. At some point I think we need to decide whether this manager and this team has earned that trust. If we can win this one, it will be another step along the road...... -
I can't work out how the average attendance would be the highest as we crap that year. We finished 7th a year later we were 4th.
-
I would bring Fadinger in for Slatts. Slatts was burst yesterday and I am surprised he got full 90 mins
-
Went for McGinn. Has been a great servant for the club and yesterday was a really good performance from him when we were under pressure at the back in spells.
-
You do realise that discusding scenarios after 26 games where we could still win the league is not normal behaviour for a motherwell forum, none of us have any experience of such things, well at least while we are sober and awake, so its not surprising your maths is flawed.
-
I think it'll be a close game on Wednesday, possibly going to 120 minutes or even penalties. There will be no love lost between the players given Aberdeen's cynical approach yesterday and the ref will be need to be strong and consistent from kick off to ensure a fair contest. I doubt if we'll change our game plan much but it will be fine tuned in the light of lessons learned. JBA should find it a bit easier, as he'll now have seen Aberdeen's various newbies in action. I wonder if we'll continue with our long ball experiment. Not sure if it worked yesterday - the idea was good but the execution not always great. Will our tank be running on fumes? There will be some squad rotation in that Welsh will sit this one out and Fadinger will come back in. SODs may also come back in. Possibly one or two other tweaks.
-
Just how it often goes with football. Double headers like this throw up different winners* and especially when one of them is a cup tie. Plus I never, ever trust Motherwell when it comes to cup games. * I am aware that we beat Aberdeen in the League Cup and then in the league back to back earlier in the season, but I donβt see us doing the βdouble-doubleβ over them.

He's fine, a well win prediction would have concerned me again π€£π€£

Having seen both teams yesterday, what is your logic for that? -
Weβre not winning this Iβm afraid. Just canβt see it. Either a narrow loss in 90 or ET or a penalty shootout loss. Whatever happens we wonβt be travelling to the Kingdom of Fife on 7th March.
