  1. Past hour
  2. Agree 100% about Ap and Hendry. Big Thor needs to be given a run of games to fully test him. If we are going to play as we did on Thursday then a big front man is a necessity.
  3. Today
  4. Still think the middle of the front three is a big issue for us dont fancy any of the players we have for that role as main or back ups. Ap,Hendry and Bjørgolfsson i dont think are going to cut it.
  5. After what felt a slow start the club are churning through the signings quite nicely now . working though keeper - defence - midfield . I was wondering if we’d be resigning Spittal now given all the signings hearts have made or perhaps a cheeky loan for Turnbull . Anyway , it’s coming together and beginning to feel get more optimistic about the season ahead .
  6. Think it’s a positive step by the club hopefully another few in soon as the league starts in only 8 days.
  7. Ive read that elsewhere and maybe we will deploy him differently. But from the highlights reel (limited, I know) he looked more Slattery than Just.
  8. Thats exactly what should have been done, the simplest, quickest an cheapest option to get the seats compliant. But as i said there does not seem to have been much thought put into the whole process, the club knew since probably March that a european place was likely
  9. Seems he suffered a bad injury and then his Mum passed, so no real surprise if he went off the rails for a time. This is a new start for the lad, so hopefully it'll all work out for him with us. Worth noting that he's apparently out of contract at the end of the season, so he's playing for his future.
  10. That is a very good point - reading the uefa requirements back, that is exactly how it reads... I really hope that was clarified before going ahead.
  11. It was the same in the POD Joe. In the stairwell where the kiosks are located, you had fans queuing for the toilets, mingling with those queuing for the kiosks, and those coming and going down stairs to hospitality. Complete chaos as it was last season.
  12. I think he’s probably more of a replacement for Just. He’s also been given the number 11 shirt, which points in that direction. I still think we’ll see a Slattery replacement at some point who’s more of an 8/10 type. Although having said that, Fadinger has been given the number 8 shirt. Then again, shirt numbers don’t really mean as much as they used to.
  13. When players tend to leave the horrible Glasgow clubs they are suddenly attitude problem riddled, were not good enough blah blah blah because they seem to think the world football stops outside Celtic Park and Ibrox its the same fans who have been crying about how good Watt and Just have been oh look now they are shite lacked ambition ,not good enough because they didnt sign for them. He will do us a turn good signing if you ask me.
  14. I dont sit in the POD so cant comment on how bad it is. But the UEFA requirement does seem a bit stupid. If I remember the wooden seats correctly, they were just a smaller wooden bar at the top of the seat as the backstop, but surely its the height from the top of the bar to the seat that counts? Grown adults arent falling thru the hole in between! If that was the problem, surely we could have had some sort of covering screwed on to fill the hole? It would have looked totally "tinpot" but would it have been any worse than the current remedy? I think it does provide a very good example though of the problems facing the club in respect of stadium maintenance and why a full and robust debate is required over solutions. The Hunter Stand was an absolute disaster again on Thursday night at half time with people trying to use the narrow concourse at the back to get to the toilets and food outlets, all of which are too small to cope with a sell out crowd. You could hardly move trying to get back and forward to your seat. If our style of play and associated attendances are maintained, the situation isnt going to go away. When our stands are only a half or 2/3 full there isnt an issue. But you really notice the difference with a full house.
  15. Having watched Lowry's highlights reel, he definitely has the look of a Slattery type player. Very comfortable on the ball, difficult to dispossess, can pick a pass and takes a good free kick / penalty. If he can resurrect that kind of form on a regular basis, Im all in.
  16. The uefa guidelines are published here: https://documents.uefa.com/r/PxVtjcYr9Ntgwd0wYgq2xw/VwP_y6GYxRLIkBHXeSU3uQ Skip to article 18 for the seating criteria. For stadium category's 2-4 the 30 cm backrest thing is a requirement. Stadium category 1 is not sufficient for certain stages of the competition, so brian is not just saying what he has to to appease fans. I agree that it is a downgrade, and its solving 1 problem while creating 2 or 3 more. Frankly, its a bullshit requirement. Will take it as gospel that there was no other seating options, but it feels as though shifting most of the pod stand to the south stand for euro ties would have been a better option. Personally i can deal with the uncomfyness, but getting in and out is a mission. Here to stay though - only 90 mins every couple weeks 🫠
  17. I feel the same. That's a couple of loan signings this window. Maybe these are to allow Matty or academy players a bit more time to achieve the required level and step up later in the season.
  18. Lowry was highly thought of earlier in his career but for whatever reason it hasn't quite happened yet but we have a decent track record of getting players careers going again so hopefully this is another one of those times.
  19. I actually wonder if Shane Blaney wouldnt have been a good fit for this type of Motherwell side? Injuries aside, he always looked comfortable with the ball at his feet. It was the physicality and defending his box I always felt he struggled with. Not suggesting we go bring him back, but if SOD, McGinn and Koutroumbis can all look good at centre half in this kind of set up, Im sure others could too.
  20. Will wait until I see how he performs on the pitch before passing judgement, but on the face of it seems like a decent short term fix in midfield. Not a great fan of loan players, particularly if it benefits a club in our league that is a direct opponent. However, he is coming from outwith and in a difficult to fill position, so if a permanent signing of the required standard isnt available right now, I could get on board with it. Hope the rumours about attitude are just a load of shite and the boy can resurrect his career with some stellar performances and a bucketload of goals!
  21. The Wycombe fans seem a bit peeved about it which is always good news. Not sure they are too happy with their manager who seems to prefer “run through wall” type of players to guys with ability.
  22. I can only go on what i was told, but it seems blatantly obvious that nobody actually sat in one of them in situ or considered the dificulties of getting up and out of the way to let people get in and out of the rows which is the main issue with them, before the order was placed. They are not fit for purpose, but as i said earlier they are there to stay until we move to a new stadium or the POD is rebuilt. The club have dropped the ball with this fiasco and created a bigger issue which will not be resolved easily or quickly.
  23. Usually a bad attitude disappears with age when they realise its a big bad world out there, by then its too late for some. Hopefully he has a point to prove comming in on loan.
  24. And yet one of the guys that helped replace the seats said the middle seats were only replaced so they were uniform and looked better. And they were good enough for the Sligo game. I think Brian said what he had to to placate the fans. Not a first. Maybe you should have asked him if he had actually sat in the new seats. And whether they passed a Health and Safety check. I get we are stuck with them but somebody got this badly wrong. After a Euro tie the talk should really be about the game but sadly the hot topic is the seating. There is a reason for that.
  25. I noticed on Thursday night that the bucket seats in the lower section to the left of us have been replaced, so maybe there was not time to finish t hem all, but it looks like they are all being replaced.
  26. Can’t judge on a single game but I think fans get more excited by sheer pace than the recruitment team. Smart defending will quickly nullify that with strength, positioning and (legal) blocking if the player doesn’t also have good ball control. Seedorf had his moments for us but didn’t really have the skill to back up the pace. And as for taking players from lowly Euro qualifying opposition the two word cautionary tale is Shane Blaney 😉
  27. I saw him coming out his car at the HB game. really promising young player at Rangers who’s career seems to have stalled. Certainly has ability but the rumours were always about his bad attitude but these are hopefully only rumours. There were always rumours flying about on old firm players due to their weird fan base.
