  1. Past hour
  2. Yes, I've heard that before and that's what the video also said but other explanations are available, apparently 😂.
  3. As is so often the case with Motherwell we save our worst performances for Cup ties even when we’re on good form. I don’t see next week being any different I’m afraid. 1-1 (3-5 penalties)
  4. Like Gordon Banks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Today
  6. I know nothing to do with yesterdays game but how good was that Craig Gordon save?. Unbelievable
  7. VAR checked it, the ref told the players to wait.
  8. The racing colours story was first relayed to me when I was wee by my late father, who began attending games in the late 1920s. He recounted that Lord Hamilton gifted us the land for Fir Park, as long as we adopted his racing colours.
  9. Agreed. We all know how SK will set his team up. They'll sit in deep and try to frustrate us. If we don't score early it could be a long afternoon. An early first goal will be crucial. The time to bring on unforced subs is if/when we're 2 or 3 goals up. By all means rest & rotate players but not until we have a decent cushion.
  10. I see our our claret and amber are explained as being Lord Hamilton of Dalzell's racing colours. Others claim we simply copied Bradford City's C&A, and this sounds plausible since they played first in yoked shirts and then stripes and so did we after we changed from blue (presumably because the latter was a common jersey in Scotland) in 1913. Anyone know anything definitive on the subject?
  11. Said did move his head although I thought the boy went down holding his groin.
  12. It wouldn’t surprise me if Jens plays one of the youngsters like McAllister and he may give McGhee a start. im hoping we might have a new face in as well by Saturday i think we’ll win but it won’t be easy. Munster always seems to start positively with new teams.
  13. Stephen Robinson post match yesterday: The last two games have been totally unacceptable and I take total blame for it. Stephen Robinson 2 seconds later: "The injuries have been incredible. We've got seven starters out. If that happened to Celtic or Rangers, they couldn't cope. Classic football manager doublespeak.
  14. We need to start our strongest 11 and take it from there. We cant afford to take this game lightly. Its a cup game and to progress you need to work hard and hope with our quality and abit of luck it will be enough.
  15. Hope we can take care of this without adding anymore injuries and perhaps going easy on some of the regular starters. With a game on the bench or at least much reduced game time.
  16. Are we talking about late on in the Hibs penalty area. Looked like the box suddenly turned into a high garavity area wit players falling to the ground for no reason.
  17. I did see Said back-head one of the hibs guys. Was a bit cheeky and could have been pulled up by VAR, unsure if there was much contact though.
  18. Iredale went down saying Said back-headed him, just like he did with JT in the home game. Yeah, that celtic tackle was terrible.
  19. Anyone else see the bizarre carry on at the end? Hibs player and Said having a disagreement. Said walks away and Hibs player dived after feeling contact from behind from another Hibs player thinking it was Said. McGinn seen it, hence him having a go at Hibs player. Referees really need to come down hard on this sort of behavour. Also see Celtic when they need a little help got away with a shocking tackle early on against Utd. Youve got to wonder if VAR have been told to keep a lower profile in recent weeks.
  20. Living away from Lanarkshire, as I do, I don't get the opportunity to watch any of the youth games. I only get the odd glimpse of a youngster on the bench or making a token 5 minute appearance as a sub. Now that generational talent, Lennon Miller, has moved on for a club record fee, who is next on the conveyor belt? Any views? From the little I've seen or read: Luca Ross: he's now 19 and been on the fringe of the first team for a few years but never quite made the breakthrough. Will he make it? Zander MacAllister: at 17, seems to be highly rated and made 2 token subs appearances. Olly Whyte, now 19, he was a standout on loan at Cowdenbeath and now doing the business at a higher level with Stenhousemuir, on loan. The pick of the bunch? Dylan Wells: was highly rated and went on loan to Edinburgh City but then disappeared. Picked up a serious long term injury? Mikey Booth: highly rated but then picked up a serious injury and we've heard no more. .
  21. Fair comment. JT fashioned and took his goal very well. Tom Sparrow's misjudgement was so reminiscent of the kind of goal that Stevie Hammell used to concede. Still an away point at your rival's place is not a bad result.
  22. Watched highlights last night and our goal was superb. Poor goal to lose and Sparrow misjudged it but Bowie also had some luck. Said should have done better with header late on but it's still a very good point against a side that have a lot more financial clout than us.
  23. Welsh is contracted to celtic until summer 2027 https://www.bbc.com/sport/articles/cldg6w9dg50o Like above, any club signing Welsh now would need to pay at least what celtic are paying him, or Celtic will need to give him some sort of payoff to make the difference. It's feasible that he'd take a modest pay cut for regular football, but I don't see why he'd do that right now, whether its with us, Aberdeen, or anyone else. Clubs are increasingly moving the recruitment responsibilities away from the manager, which makes sense since most managers don't even last a season thesedays. I'm sure players would prefer some kind of managerial stability at the club they are joining, but I'm sure what they're getting paid matters more.
  24. This suggests we're not going to go crazy in January, as expected. "The strength of the squad was evident and the Motherwell manager reiterated that his focus in the January transfer window is to keep his key players. “That's the main plan, to make sure that this team gets the maximum out of this group of players, gets the maximum out of this season, and then we know in the summer it's a bigger window,” the Dane said. “So that's the main track for us and then obviously there's a few gaps here and there and we'll see if we can fill them with quality like we did in the summer.”
