Glad we took advantage of the opportunity to postpone the game. The players have been full on since the start of the season with 2 games a week, plenty travel and precious little time.on the training ground. The break will hopefully allow some of the injuries to ease / be managed and give Alfred a few more days to get some of his ideas across. Hopefully Dundee United will agree to the midweek game being moved. Makes sense for both clubs.

I'm expecting Les Dawson to walk in wae yon long microphone as someone said blankety blank. Then again he'd be struggling to get in & out of it anaw.

Ive tried really hard not to bite on your posts recently, but you are either tone deaf or purposely trolling and I fear its the former rather than the latter. Football is no longer played in the 80s when the boys pissed off to the pub or the bookies after training. They are highly tuned professional athletes pushing their bodies to the limit on a weekly basis. Physical load is an actual thing, otherwise clubs wouldnt be employing sports scientists to monitor and take care of players to try and prevent injury. Unfortunately this only goes so far and cant take into account contact injuries which we appear to have had a number of this season. The manager was on a hiding to nothing with the Stenny game. He could play a full team, risk further injury, risk losing more players for weeks of the league season and get a hiding off Freiburg home and away. Or he could play some of the young boys, hope we squeek thru and manage the load. It didnt come off for him, and I maybe wouldnt have played as many of the young boys, but that was his judgement. If had followed your judgement instead of the sports scientists, there is a high liklihood we would still be in the league cup, but every changlce we would now be without a fair number of our best players for weeks.

Mines died from embarrasment then fell off, with being associated with such a cheap and nasty seat.

2 further points: For our goal the other night, the last i saw was Longelo firing the ball across then people in front of me stood up and it literally takes me 3 secs to get upright in these seats so I just joined in the celebration even though I had no idea what just happened. Secondly, have the actual seat numbers been deliberately covered? Every seat had a small white sticker on it. Cannot recall from 2 other European games that was an issue, in those games I was in POD South, last Thursday POD north area.

Yep, that would have gone well, Booth and Ross v Geeman internationals...id much rather have a go in Europe than the LC. Unfortunately you're entitled to your opinion.

I’m not taking the piss. They’re professional footballers, they are capable of playing a game three days after the last one. The problem we had with Stenhousemuir is that we dropped key players and didn’t take the tie as seriously as we should have done. If there was any game where we should have rotated the squad and played fringe players then it was the Freiburg game because we were never winning that and in the grand scheme of things the league and league cup are far more important to us.

Not to spark any hint of hope but Fortuna Dusseldorf have slipped to the bottom of League 3 in Germany (a drastic demise for them) and are apparently “p1sh”. (Words of my German footballing anorak mate) all I’m hoping for is for us to compete, keep the score down and get a goal for our travelling fans to celebrate. Safe travels for all who are heading out.

There's zero chance it's happening, but I can still see it going one of two ways. Either they'll be happy knowing the job is done and look to cruise to a 1 or 2 nil win, or they'll want to put on a show for their first home game of the season and stick 6 past us.

As much as we will give it a go on Thursday i really have the fear for this one, home advantage, a much better team that looked a lot faster and fitter than us. That 3rd goal, last Thursday has just about killed the tie, we need a 2-0 win as a minimum to force extra time or win by 3 clear goals to progress, and without going full MJC i just cant see it happening.

I would think that if both Clubs requested a change then the date would be moved. Has happened with many teams in the past but both teams have to agree. Would make good sense.

It’s been a drag of a weekend without the football but I think the option to postpone was sensibly exercised in the interest of the 5 clubs and the coefficient. Slight annoyance for me is that after Freiburg we have 3 league games in 7 days. I had hoped our midweek game at home to Dundee United could have been shifted to Sat 12th Sept with us both out the cup.

Except the Hearts and Rangers results were irrelevant, win or lose they were still playing some sort of European football last Thursday and next, Yes Hibs and or Motherwell could have been knocked out by now but they could still have covered their bases by arranging Aberdeen to play in Dundee and a reasonable East / West split of the other fixtures. The big question for me is why Celtic, a full 4 games into their season, felt that a postponement was required (and allowed).

Aye right we just put in a shift on Thursday playing one of the best teams in Germany/ Europe . Third of that with 10 men. It's a great idea to play Aberdeen 3 days later and have them kick and injure our fatigued team off the park. Your taking the piss . Well done.

FFS have you not been watching the games n listening to the manager in his pressers about injuries and managing players to prevent an even longer list of injuries? Clearly you’ve had your black out shades on n ear plugs in and just want to winge about a negative again. Cancellation was the best decision for me, every other team has done it so why should we put ourselves at a disadvantage for the Freiburg game. CMYW!

So whoever programmed the "super computer" would have to correctly guess that Hearts would fail in the CL and EL, Rangers in EL, and both Hibs and Motherwell would get through two rounds in the conference, to all end up in the conf playoffs, aye ok then. I hope he put a coupon on and is enjoying himelf somewhere warm and sunny.

Just one more variable they could have put into the fixture super computer before the season even started. As it was agreed all clubs competing in Europe could postpone thus round of fixtures, they could have scheduled the head to heads on this weekend

The authorities often get things wrong, but allowing teams to prepare and give them the best opportunity to compete and win in their play-off rounds is not one of them. You don't have to go too far back in time to see your thoughts about our performance against Stenhousemuir.

Common sense did prevail, the club decided to postpone todays game to allow the players to have a full week of preparation to prepare themselves for probably the most important game in its recent history, a chance to make the group stages of a European tournament and the financial rewards that brings.
