  1. Past hour
  2. If there is a football god we should win the Cup because we are the best team in Scotland. That said you don't need to be good to win the Cup as Aberdeen and St Mirren have proved. Both absolute pish and current holders of Silverware.
  3. This is a new era for us as fans, previously after winning a run of games we simply knew a loss would come. This season there's only been 1 game we deserved to lose and we did. At the back of my mind I know we might lose here or there but the facts are clear and hard not to expect to win - particularly given we've already won 3x and drawn with them. Let's go win the cup tie - 'well deserved.
  4. Today
  5. I was more concerned about yesterday due to Aberdeen being an unknown quantity with half a dozen new players in. We struggled at times yesterday but Iโ€™m sure Jens will have watched the game over a number of times already and will have sussed out the pros and cons of the Aberdeen side. itll be close again and a 1-0 is all we need but I do have a feeling it might go to extra time.
  6. I think its absolutely mind blowing that we are even contemplating it. I thought those days were gone and never coming back. Of course Rangers and Celtic have both made catastrophic management appointments this season and allowed Hearts and ourselves to capitalise, but I certainly couldnt see this coming at the start of the season, and Im probably one of the happiest clappers out there. We are still a fair bit back mind you but if we can win our game in hand and secure a few more good results (particularly away from home) before the split, I think we can still be in touch going into the split where it will be all to play for.
  7. Prepare and execute. That's all we can do, and so far we've been doing it pretty well. Things can happen in a one-off cup tie, but I'd rather be on our position than Aberdeen's right now.
  8. I get that. And we have all been programmed over many, many years to think that way. I keep waiting for this bubble to burst and for us to throw in a stinker. But, League Cup semi aside (and that wasnt even that awful for the most part) it just hasnt happened. At some point I think we need to decide whether this manager and this team has earned that trust. If we can win this one, it will be another step along the road......
  9. I can't work out how the average attendance would be the highest as we crap that year. We finished 7th a year later we were 4th.
  10. I would bring Fadinger in for Slatts. Slatts was burst yesterday and I am surprised he got full 90 mins
  11. Went for McGinn. Has been a great servant for the club and yesterday was a really good performance from him when we were under pressure at the back in spells.
  12. You do realise that discusding scenarios after 26 games where we could still win the league is not normal behaviour for a motherwell forum, none of us have any experience of such things, well at least while we are sober and awake, so its not surprising your maths is flawed.
  13. I think it'll be a close game on Wednesday, possibly going to 120 minutes or even penalties. There will be no love lost between the players given Aberdeen's cynical approach yesterday and the ref will be need to be strong and consistent from kick off to ensure a fair contest. I doubt if we'll change our game plan much but it will be fine tuned in the light of lessons learned. JBA should find it a bit easier, as he'll now have seen Aberdeen's various newbies in action. I wonder if we'll continue with our long ball experiment. Not sure if it worked yesterday - the idea was good but the execution not always great. Will our tank be running on fumes? There will be some squad rotation in that Welsh will sit this one out and Fadinger will come back in. SODs may also come back in. Possibly one or two other tweaks.
  14. Just how it often goes with football. Double headers like this throw up different winners* and especially when one of them is a cup tie. Plus I never, ever trust Motherwell when it comes to cup games. * I am aware that we beat Aberdeen in the League Cup and then in the league back to back earlier in the season, but I donโ€™t see us doing the โ€˜double-doubleโ€™ over them.
  15. He's fine, a well win prediction would have concerned me again ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ
  16. Having seen both teams yesterday, what is your logic for that?
  17. Weโ€™re not winning this Iโ€™m afraid. Just canโ€™t see it. Either a narrow loss in 90 or ET or a penalty shootout loss. Whatever happens we wonโ€™t be travelling to the Kingdom of Fife on 7th March.
  18. Yep, suspensions are competition specific.
  19. Yesterday
  20. Thought McGinn was solid today, Sparrow and Longelo had good games.
  21. Correct, the way Iโ€™ve written it is wrong, when calculating it I had Rangers winning all their post split games apart from us so Hearts drop 6 points post split which I forgot to add in and also only gave them 9pts to the split instead of 12 which made my post split figures add up - Edit required
  22. Fadinger will be a contender for player of the season. Slattery probably won't make it into the top 3 midfielders of the season which shows the high standards in the middle of the park.
  23. We missed Fadinger today. Thatโ€™s the first time in a while a team has had a good bit of joy in the midfield against us. positives were Longelo looking really positive going forward and also our subs looked excellent, they combined really well to help us over the line Going to be tough in Pittodrie but I think today will give the team lots of confidence going into the cup tie. As for the league, we are in the mix, no doubt about it. Win our game in hand and itโ€™s all to play for.
  24. Hearts are dropping more points in last 10 games than the other three, for that reason I don't think they will win the league.
  25. I don't think this can be right. If we win the game in hand v Dundee we go seven points behind Hearts. Beat them twice takes us to one behind. If they win all their other games and we win all our other games, they beat us by one point (my calculations may also be wrong) Crazy to think we could win the next 12 games, having lost only 3 games the ENTIRE season and still not win the league. It will not work out like this of course. Hearts will not win all their other games. ๐Ÿ˜›
