If Grimmy isn't a right back and O'Donnell isn't a left back wouldn't it make sense at the very least to put Grimshaw at left back and O'Donnell at right back so we only have one player out of position?
I mean it'd make even more sense to put Lamie at left back and O'Donnell at right back but that'd be far too fuckin sensible.
Grimmy has cost us goals the past two games and it would have been three if Stewart's shot didn't hit the bar. Lamie is pish but can at least do the basics of defending.
O'Donnell was in the papers yesterday saying he's played at left back before and happy to play there again.
If it's a choice between Grimmy at RB and O'Donnell at LB vs. O'Donnell at RB and Lamie at LB I'll take the former. It's far from ideal, but Lamie was a liability on Wednesday and his ridiculous handball changed the momentum of the first half just as we were starting to make some progress.
With 5 subs, it's easy enough to switch to the other option if it's not working out.
Grimshaw is shite,we then sign a right back who is very decent at this level and were planning on playing him at left back, the mind really does boggle.there's been some strange decisions made by robinson already and were only 3 games in.
sooooooo. frustrating.
I've never known a manager so willing to play so many players out of position - If we had a great right back it could be justified but FFS.
One would think the more players who play in their best position the better the team would do.
Well thats Robbo just confirmed O'Donnell will be left back . Apparently he played 'a lot' for Partick as a Left Back, funny that, whenever I saw a Partick team sheet (almost every single fucking week) they had O'Donnell @ RB and Aaron Taylor Sinclair @ LB. Typical fucking nonsense from a manager clutching at straws.
Our defence needs to be on it or we could be in for a long night. Hibs are one of few teams to play with two proper strikers and Boyle’s pace from wide tends to give us issues. However, with two in central midfield there is an opportunity for us to dominate if Turnbull and O’Hara can match Campbell’s effort.
Will be interesting to see how the players respond to Robinson’s scathing assessment on Wed. Loss of form and confidence is acceptable. Loss of commitment and desire far less so, particularly at a time when the club and many fans are going to great lengths to keep the show on the road.
So for clarity, you want to put an untested central defensive partnership that includes someone with no first team experience, another with less than half an hour's Premiership experience, neither of which you admit you have seen, in a game away to the joint league leaders and joint highest scoring team in the league?
That's the managers job got to play players he can trust ,yes the injury list hasn't helped but playing people out of position hasn't helped so as I see it the only thing he can do is give youth it's chance . Now I haven't seen Devine or Hussain play but now is as good a time as any to see what they can do let's face it they can't be any worse than Mugabe and Grimmy . I would probably go for 3-5-2 on Saturday
Carson
Devine. Gallagher ( if fit) Hussain
O'Donnell Campbell Turnbull Ohara Hylton
Watt. Lang
Really? I think Brown is, and always has been an excellent commentator and Lewis Irons is a really good side-kick. I thought they gave a pretty fair appraisal of the game too. Clearly supportive of Motherwell but not biased to the levels I've heard some club commentators.
