Who'd have thought McCall's tactic of talking Rangers up before the match wouldn't have worked when it's been so successful in the past? The preperation for games against Rangers/The Rangers obviously hasn't changed despite them being a shadow of the team they were. Utter shite McCall.

Is the club statement an attempt to get the orcs to buy tickets for the game and increase the money we will be due? I'd be disappointed if that was the case but I really can't think of any other reason for releasing such a statement.

Quality

From what I saw tonight they are the equivalent of an SPL reserve team. A few run of the mill SPL standard players surrounded by kids. We should not lose to them and there will be far more pressure on them than us. IMO a draw would be a shock result.

They are murder. Their "good" players aren't good enough to drag the youngsters through a game against us. They constantly give the ball away cheaply and I think we'll punish them. The big pitch will work in our favour as well.

In my opinion we've done well to hold off from panic signings. We're in a good position in the league and we've got almost a full squad to choose from. Saunders is the only injury and we've got enough cover at the back without him. Free agents will now be beginning to lower their expectations so we can now hopefully get a better standard of player if we're in the market to make a signing.

The Rangers might have some SPL standard players but they also have a few who wouldn't get a regular game for any SPL team and a manager who's found his level in the third division. Talking them up hasn't exactly worked in the past so surely it's time to tell it like it is and say we'll be going to win as we're the better team.

I don't agree with most of what McCall says and wish he'd either concentrate on talking up his own team or keep his mouth shut. He should know by now how the press are going to report what he says.

They're third in Division 3 having played the same number of games as the teams above them. Why should we go into this game with any thoughts of losing? I'm not saying we'll definitely win but they'll have to be at the top of their game and hope we have an off day. If we're on our game we'll pump them.

Is that rule adhered to in the SPL? I've not seen any games this season but in the past players have been penalised for making an attempt go for the ball whether they got there or not whereas in other leagues (EPL) they get away with it if they don't actually touch it. Doesn't excuse the schoolboy error of not playing to the whistle though!

I think we approach these games all wrong. Too much emphasis on the quality of who we're playing rather than the quality of our own team. It's the same against Celtic and (oldco) Rangers. Needs to change.

Did you listen to the game? If you did, did it sound like we'd learned anything from the games against pana or did it sound very similar?

Looks as though a return journey would cost around £80 on the high speed train.

You can get the fast train that takes about 1.5/2 hours. I've never taken the train in Spain so I'm not 100% sure of the prices but I'll have a look.

IMO there's no chance of an early ko. Spanish teams tend to play later in the evening but I think this will be a 2045 ko (GMT+1).

Considering staying overnight in Valencia and then back to Madrid in the morning/afternoon.
