I’m just hoping he’s not written off after 45 minutes.

Knowing our current fascination with ex-Livi players is Lawless a possibility? Unable to get a game for a Burton team that have struggled this season.

Very generous of you to give him 45 minutes before being denounced as shite.

Carroll was written off before he had kicked a ball for us yet when he was injured folk were raving about him as if he was Maldini!!.   Let's give any new signing a chance....COYW

Imagine the seethe when it’s an extension to a loan for Robbie Crawford...

Remember when we got him and the collective rant was Livvy reject .... Messi would have to bide his time to break into that team at the moment.

Generally speaking most new signings are a simple reminder of what level we've sunk to in the last xx years. (not just us - all Scottish football).

Signings from the bottom of the English pit.   Some make turn out great, many don't.

When our model works and we sell £6m worth of players you'd expect that means we can sensibly invest in a higher calibre and start moving up the rungs to a brighter future.

Hope for now is the new mgr can unearth decent signings (which aint easy in the winter window)

I see McDonald played alongside Alexander at Burnley so a link there too.

Think it was mentioned the player was Scottish, I thought Rooney was Irish.

Well at least we've heard of him.

He did really well at Livi and showed more than what I thought he was capable of based in his time here.  We're lacking wide options if we're going to play with wingers so if that's an option Alexander wants then it makes sense.

I must admit, I don't remember him having many bad games when he played against us for Partick or Livi. So let's give him a chance.

The ex-Livi theme is becoming a bit laughable now, but I wouldn't say that makes this a bad signing. Decent pedigree in Scottish football and fills a position we've been lacking in, the 'graduate homecoming' thing is also a nice sentiment.

Agreed. I always remember thinking that he looked pretty decent, and wondered why he had been let go.

Piss poor. I'm struggling to see him as a nail on starter which is exactly what we are crying out for. We need leaders.

And there you have it.....welcome to Motherwell Steven.

We are effectively rebuilding squad for next season from now and this whilst not spectacular is a very decent signing. That plus he is reliable and hard working enough to help get us away from bottom 2 spots in the league for this season.

Oh come on.  Someone has been at worst been a steady player in the top flight for more than half a decade and who hit double figures in his last season in the top flight isn't "piss poor".
