  1. I hate the "short career" stuff. They can get back into work after 35, down another path.

  2. How the tables have turned. While I'm not glad he's moved on and think if he'd maybe opted for something closer to Andy Robertson's career path then he may have had an option for greater things. I certainly don't wish him any ill will as long as he's mature and respectful to where he got his grounding and boost up from. However I find the level of double standards by posters on here astounding. If you had a chance to quadruple your salary, albeit it in a more competitive environment would you stay where you are? I sincerely fucking doubt it. So because he's a footballer there has to be a loyalty? Players with the very odd exception are mercenaries, its a short career and they have to make hay while the sun is shining. The planets have aligned for him, partly through good luck and party through hard work and endeavour. All those wishing him failure will and bringing up Slane, yeah I'm sure he's not oblivious to the stories and I'm sure he also recognises that a purple patch has earned him this move along with his contract status (which I doubt anyone at Motherwell would have had the foresight to foresee, we've had as many duds as inspired extensions). He plays alongside Cadden and after his performances in the playoff's I wonder if he rue's signing a contract extension opposed to moving on then or the season after for more money which he could have inevitably done.

  3. That's one of the more embarrassing posts I've read on here, and that's saying something.

  4. I would have loved Hastie to be here next season but putting the claret and amber specs aside Jake Hastie can have a nice house paid off, have a good standard of life and have a big whack in the pension scheme/life savings regardless of him ever making an appearance for Rangers. And even if it's a worst case scenario for him, he'll still be young enough to get another shot at at least a Motherwell level football career. As much as I wish it wasn't it's a no brainer for him.

  5. Agreed. Drives me fucking mental. Players act like when they retire their life is over. That whole line is an utter lot of shite. There’s that many jobs in football also that go to ex players. It’s just an excuse to justify the wages.

  6. I think it's more about the disappointment of losing a player to one of the bigot brothers. I imagine most fans would be happy to see him succeed if he was moving to almost any other club, but don't want anyone to succeed with that mob. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cadden move on in the summer, but at least from his interviews, he seems to have been quite happy sticking with us. Despite the fact that it feels like has been around forever, it's easy to forget Cadden is only 22.

  7. My only concern now is money we receive from Sevco. I can see a long drawn out process with them offering 50 grand and going to the inept SFA commitee to decide how much . Even at that i can see em trying to pay in instalments. Dont EVER give Sevco credit on their bills. Ask the caterers and all the other staff still out of pocket. As for Hastie thanks for the 10 minutes you've contributed. We move on.

  8. That's what the Ibrox fans will be saying when he's 18 months into his contract and has only been seen in a pre season friendly

  9. The Hastie saga has now reached the beyond boring stage. He seems to have made his decision and, had it been anyone other than the ugly sisters of Scottish football, I might have been inclined to wish him good luck in his career. As far as compensation goes, you know they will pay the absolute minimum they have to and no doubt try and wrangle a lower price by going to a tribunal if that Is an option in this situation. No blame on anyone at Fir Park. We offer our young talent the opportunity to develop and move on. If they choose to look elsewhere then that is up to them. The fact that many see the benefit in this, and sign on, shows that it is a system that works.

  11. The whole hastie situation has become boring,I'm glad its over with and we can take the compensation and move on and plan ahead for next season.he should be told thanks and allowed to watch the remaining games from the stand and give somebody else some game time.

  12. Give it a rest...We know your the only one who noticed and all the professional coaches failed at 2 clubs to spot how good he is. He was decent at Alloa and was doing them a good turn but, no one not even you, had any clue that he would have made such an impact as he did. If they did do you think for a second the club would not have tied him down with a longer contract?? So it wasnt poor judgement at all it was a measured judgement on his performance up until that time. If you look at his performance 23 games for alloa and 3 goals. Before that with Airdrie 32 appearances and 3 goals. So that's 55 appearances and 6 goals about the same he scored in half a season when he got a start in January. If he wasnt scoring mega goals in the championship and league 1 then how can you say it was poor judgement. Ridiculous comment.

  14. I can't understand this "we are safe from relegation, the season is over" view that some people have, so throw all the academy players in as results don't matter. At the start of every season the main objective is to finish as high up the league as possible, with 5 to play that should still be the focus, by all means bring in 1 or 2 academy players but we should be fielding our strongest possible team selection for these 5 games. As has been stated in previous posts the difference in prize money between 7th and 9th is significant for a club like ours, it,s maybe wages for 2 players for SR to bring in over the summer. So I hope we go for it in these last 5 games and don't mess about with the team too much if at all, if the fringe academy players have shown no sign of being ready to step up over the last 33 games why should it be any different for the last 5.
