Thought we played very well first half. I must confess at thinking it was a bold team selection that could come back to haunt us, but we were able to go pretty much toe to toe with a very good Celtic team and only some poor finishing stopped us going in at half time with a deserved share of the spoils. However, everything we did well first half we seened to stop doing second half. The second goal is really poor and after that we seemed to lose our way. The first substition is a shocker. If Aarons was cramping fair enough, but to think Seedorf was the answer is quite incredible. We basically gave them the game at that point. Anyone of the other subs would have been a better alternative. It was no surprise at that point it all went south. For all the result was disappointing, our fans need to take a reality check. The first half performance had lots to commend it and those giving Polworth a hard time might want to go back and look at his contribution first half. The crazy shot from 25 yards apart he was involved in nearly everything good we did. Always available, always looking to drive forward and play the forward pass. He worked incredibly hard for the team. Yes he faded badly second half and his delivery was terrible, but he wasnt alone. Fast becoming the boo boys new favourite. We have had some tough fixtures, but Livvy game apart, we have coped with them well. Plenty to be positive about going into Saturday. Toughen up princesses!4 points

Since our return we have Despatched Dundee easily in Cup. Gave a gutsy battling display to win 3 points in Aberdeen. Competed very well against an improving Hibs team and could easily have earned 3 points. Played shit on a plastic pitch and got what we deserved. Went toe to toe with the treble treble winners and should have gone in at half time at least level. Ran out of steam second half and succumbed to a team far superior to us in every way. Struggling to see where this implosion in our form is? If we turn up on Saturday we win. And I dont just mean the team......3 points

If someone had offered me not losing our points advantage versus Aberdeen, Livingston and Hibs I’d have taken their hands off. Had we got a point but Aberdeen had won, we’d have felt better about things but been in a worse position, so I’ll take it.2 points

Tbf I reckon we'll be paying Watt in installments too rather than a lump sum.2 points

Not that I rate him, but we need to sign Tony Watt urgently. The one thing St Johnstone fans said about him before he left was that he isnt much of a goalscorer, but is very good at holding the ball up. We dont have anyone in the entire club who can do that job and the last 2 games especially have shown how much that hurts us. Every fan in the stands could see this the entire season, but Robbo seems to get aroused by fucking wingers so our strikeforce is so unbalanced. As I said in another thread, every team goes thro rough patches and players dip in and out of form, but in our case we literally have nobody who can change it, there is nobody we can bring in to change formation or give Campbell or Hylton a break to get their form back, so our only option is to keep doing exactly what we are doing and hope we get lucky I can genuinely see us being out the cup this weekend, because I cant see where our goals are gonna come from, and St Midden will make themselves stuffy and hard to break down.2 points

Could be wrong, but we have only failed to score in 7 games out of 25. We are also the fourth top goalscorers in the league. So after a couple of defeats the sky has fallen in and we are rank rotten. Yes we could be better, but we also could be in hearts position. Lets just cut out the over the top reactions every time we dont win and chill.2 points

Seems to be the way on here, a couple of defeats and the team is suddenly rank rotten, seems to happen every three months or so. The team have not suddenly become a disaster any more than they have become world beaters. We are running one of the lower budgets in the league and signing lower league players which we try to develop along with our youngsters. By its very nature that’s going to lead to inconsistent performances, the questions marks should be towards teams like Hearts, Hibs, and Aberdeen who are all below us in the table with vastly larger playing budgets. We tend to be pretty consistent against teams at our budget level winning far more than we lose and while we carry on doing that we will be just fine. Let’s go to St Mirren on Saturday and cheer the guys on to a win which we are more than capable of. On a side note I think we may well have signed an absolute cracker in Aarons, against lesser teams he could be very impressive.1 point

His guaranteed wage at Columbus Crew is only $56,000 p.a (£43,000) which suggests he was never planning to hang around there. He's the lowest paid guy on the team by a fair distance. He's almost certainly on less than he was at Fir Park. I think Oxford and Columbus cooked up a plan to shaft us and the MLS killed it when FIFA got involved. https://mlsplayers.org/resources/salary-guide1 point

He did do relatively ok. It just doesn't seem right to think we are getting behind a guy who can't pass, cross or shoot to be our starting right back for the next two years. We need more quality there.1 point

Carroll is a decent full back at our level. With a better/more confident player in front of him he would bring a lot more to the table. Hylton is a hard worker who clearly takes on board the managers instructions. But his confidence is so fragile you fear for him every time he gets the ball. I dont know how you fix that other than the player himself working on his mental strength. Grimshaw is different. He is a player without a real position trying to do his very best because he is the best option we have there. He does a decent job, but he is not a natural as can be seen every time he gets in a position to cross the ball then cuts back and plays it inside cause he clearly doesnt trust himself to deliver. He also quite often gets his body shape all wrong when he is actually in a good position to defend, making it easy for the attacker to get the better of him. All that said, he is still a better option than Tait right now which is really disappointing given how good he was for us when he arrived.1 point

I can pass comment on some of the absolutely ridiculous posts on here, regardless of the performance.1 point

Same 11 for me starts on Saturday unless there is fatigue. The first half we took it to them and made some great chances. I'll focus on that.1 point

We are still the fourth highest scorers in the league, goals have come other areas than just the forwards. Personally I think there’s been a huge overreacted to a couple of defeats, one on the dreaded plastic pitch and the other against far and away the stand out team in Scottish football. We played well against Hibs and won the two tough games before that. We have four winnable games coming up now which will show where we are but there is nothing to suggest we are just going to collapse. As with many other posters I agree we need a central striker to play alongside Long, not sure if Watt is that player but I think we all need to remember it’s been a very good season up to this point with many positives. A top four finish and a run in the cup is better than the vast majority of supporters were expecting.1 point

Failed to score in three of those five games. One good goal against Dundee, one deflection, one GK howler and at Aberdeen a set piece. Where are the goals coming from?1 point

Yep, totally agree and with a name like hylton I still have reservations about him....and pulls out every challenge so no chance of getting a booking!!.....ah'll get me coat1 point

Hylton loves a tackle on himself. Our wingers make Elliot Frear look like Raheem Sterling1 point

was shocked by robinson being as bold. we went man for man but their class told in end. their midfield too strong and edoard class. we didnt deserve a 4 0 but thats football im a lot less bothered than i was after saturday past. some of our fans are murder.whining about everything. not one of our players would get in their team or maybe even squad but some of our fans want to get rid of our players coz they dint perform against celtic. our forwards have looked poor last few games but i dont think robinson helps that by continuosly swapping front 3. they cant be knackered all the time. im not having polworth crap as he is most creative player in team by a mile. grimshaw criticism again confuses me. Saturday is huge to get feelgood feeling back for season run in i feel.1 point

How do we take 6 or 7 points when we literally cannot score goals at 1 end, and struggle badly to keep them out at the other? Ok St Johnstone, St Midden & Accies arent great so we might not lose many or any goals, but we could not score with a blank cheque. This isnt a knee jerk to tonite, we got pumped off a good team and Edouard is superb. But genuinely, apart from hoping to fluke a set piece goal, how do we score or win games just now? Long is lost in a front three, Hylton unfortunately looks to be struggling and Seedorf is a man down. McIver & Manzinga are projects but far too raw just now and Ndjoli has weirdly dissappeared. Without Scott or someone else to hold a ball, every single forward pass is getting stopped and countered. We are in a poor run of form, but we dont have anything or anybody we can change to improve things, we just need to keep doing the same thing and hope we ride it out. We have also struggled to score most of the season, but have done well defensively but even that the last 3 games has been woeful. This is a big few weeks for Robbo. And thank god for Gillespie or our goal difference would be about 10 goals worse And has been mentioned, enough of the pleading poverty horseshit we are debt free and have raked in a fortune this season in transfer fees including a million quid a week ago1 point

We will win Saturday been a hard last 4 games but if you told me before they began we would still be 3 points clear in 3rd I would have took it . Saturday is a 1 off and I do think we will rise to the occasion so let’s be positive if we win will be in quarters of cup and 3 rd in league . Tonight we were miles better than Saturday but Celtic,s class showed so let’s just dust ourselves down and move on to Saturday .1 point

Decent first half which was a vast improvement on the Livi game, individual mistakes costly. Celtic took control second half with their superior quality from back to front. Robinson went for it which was probably not the right decision on the night but other results all went in our favour. Aarons looks like a decent signing who when up to speed will contribute. We have not become a poor side overnight and will bounce back.1 point

Beaten by a much better side. Other results all went our way. 25 games gone and still 3rd. Just got to keep going. Rolando looks decent.1 point
