The decision to not resign both Tait and Hartley was probably sound on a footballing sense. They both poked like they were on a downward curve in terms of performance and fitness. The nature and quality of their replacements is another matter entirely.3 points

McGinlay may not be great (and should have conceded a pen himself) but he's playing as spare man in a back three, probably not a role he's played very often. As a left wing back, he needs work but Carroll started last season slowly so you never know. I know who I blame tonight and it's not Nathan McGinlay...3 points

I couldn't care less what they have done in the past...tonight they were there for the taking and but for poor discipline for the 1st two goals we would have given them a real run for their money2 points

I think they were better than us tonight but they weren't unsurpassable if we'd even had a wee bit of quality about us and we'd been professional in defending. Better Motherwell teams would have beaten that Hapoel team and at this stage you'll be lucky to get drawn against a more beatable side than the one we played tonight. I agree with you about our rating in the great European scheme of things.2 points

Thats what annoys me most, Beer Sheva are bang average, no better than what we face in the SPL, the game had extra time and pens all over it till we gifted them the 1st goal, we had no belief from the start, never got in their faces from the off, which coupled with shambolic defending was always going to end badly.2 points

McGinlay and Lamiie may be poor players but need to look at the two 'experienced' players tonight. That performance from Gallagher has been about his average this season and O'Donnell has been dreadful tonight. I always say that if a player doesn't have the ability, criticise the manager for picking them. If a player has ability and doesn't perform, criticise the player. Not a massive fan of Robinson but tonight is on two of our more experienced players....2 points

By far the best thing about tonight's game has been the pitch side mike.2 points

Honestly this Isreali team are there for the taking. We have sat off them and gave them far too much respect. Anytime we have went up the park we have looked dangerous. For the next 45 go for their throats.. Absolutely no point sitting back and hitting on the break that park is fucking massive.2 points

Managed to find a Hapoel forum. "Group of physical monsters" and "on Thursday we will see the UFC and not football" were particular highlights.2 points

At least we can quickly put our European exit behind us with a game against a team we have a great league record against. Oh....1 point

Only 3 to blame tonight, Gallagher and O'Donnell for not picking up and gifting the 1st goal, and long for making a stupid tackle and giving away the free kick. Up till then HBS never looked like scoring. Even at 1-0 down we were well in the game and under no real pressure until Gallagher had a meltdown inside 2 mins and it was game over. We actually played ok tonight but our lack of goal threat and defensive meltdown made an average beatable team look good, and that's what pisses me off most.1 point

This one stings. It wasn't an especially poor performance by any manner of means, we weren't great but for a large chunk of the game we were more than half decent. And I don't think the opposition were particularly startling either. If, as was said Glentoran and Coleraine were roughly a Morton or Queen of the South, then I'd say this lot were perhaps going away to a Killie, Hearts or St Johnstone. Difficult sure, but by no means unbeatable. But a combination of naivety and stupidity cost us dear. Break it right down and your sliding doors moment perhaps, they put the free-header they had in the net, we put ours over the bar. The free-kick given away by Long was naive, the marking in the box appalling. But until then I thought we'd played pretty well. Long did well with the turn and shot, Watt a little unfortunate to get his feet tangled and the shot from close range blocked. But we were matching them comfortably. Their theatrics that were garnering them fouls I think we'd one shot to concern ourselves with. So frustrating for Long to be suckered and the poor defending so close to the break. I thought we started the second half purposefully but without creating a great deal of chances. And you can't then pass up the kind of chance that fell to Gallagher. I was anticipating a change and when McGinley gifted them the opportunity I thought that was the time to go to four at the back and put on a winger. But then Gallagher killed it. If there was some justification in "taking one for the team" with the first yellow, to immediately follow that up seconds later by attempting to strange someone in the box. I mean come on!!! It was done then. The third adds what feels like some undeserved gloss but in much the same way as we were clinical at Pittodrie so too were Hapoel tonight. I don't have Odense, Stjarnan, Katowice or MyPa style regrets but this is most certainly an opportunity lost. Particularly when so much of the damage was self-inflicted.1 point

Away and dont talk shite....we have had a very favourable draw, The Israelis were there for the taking and we have absolutely shat the nest1 point

You do realize none of the team you eulogize above are still there? They have got rid of all their best players. A chunk of their squad was apparently playing Israeli 2nd div in July! Yes they have SOME players better than ours and are overall a better team, but they are very ordinary, and never needed to get out of second gear tonight1 point

Modest European opposition that in recent years have beaten amongst others inter milan twice, celtic olympiacos etc. We are low euro opposition if that's case. The fact tonight was really poor defending. The 1st yes I blame odonnell but we should still have had more defenders in central area. 2nd was same not enough in central are but gallagher didn't need to do that but their striker was clever and was also grabbing him. Mcginley looked slow and indecisive but hes no played much and look how much bevis has improved so you never know. I also feel if we can play with the confidence we had in some parts of tonight we will be well up league again. Chance lost tonight where in other euro games in long ago but recent times like nancy levante, panathanaikos we were well beaten and I felt we deserved to go out but tonight I didn't feel they were miles better1 point

All about taking your chances at this level. Not like Beer Sheva have been creating loads either but when they did they put them away.1 point

No chance of getting new player in either as we have sold Turnbull for 3million and made 750k from Europe but no doubt we will get the no budget left speech1 point

It's a tough job being a Motherwell and Scotland fan Winning on Sunday will ease the pain1 point

So frustrating. They were there for the taking but you can’t afford to make the stupid mistakes we did. Gallagher deserves an absolute rollicking, he’s been below par all season and that was unacceptable from our captain. Hopefully this team get pumped in the next round, horrible cunts.1 point

More than decent performance overall, especially in the heat, but badly let down by our captain and fellow international defender.1 point

They are everything that I hate about European teams . Claim for absolutely everything. Go down like their shot. Cynical in the tackle. We are again naïve, lacking any cutting edge and very wasteful of all these set pieces we can fire into their box. Their last attack none of our midfielders could get back, looking tired already with 25 minutes still to play1 point

Watt hardly got "clattered" he left his body in to start with (nothing wrong wi that) then the lad tried to retaliate by running into him, but Watt stood his ground and had his elbow up. Both were at it there, yellow both is fine1 point

No it was shop bought l would be about 12 at the time l had white shorts but didn't have the socks so got the black and red Rangers ones a bit of a strange combination. Edit: It is possible that it was specially made because the horizontal bar was stitched on so removable.1 point

I don’t have a problem offering Campbell improved terms making him one of the highest earners. However I don’t agree that we should be offering silly money. No one player is bigger than a club and there are further tough times ahead.1 point
