I still don't see the problem. It's akin to bumping into the CEO in the street, or sending the club an email and getting a good transparent response. The fans who ask questions get an answer. If we want a club that belongs to the fans, then communication and access like this is a good thing. It seems like youd prefer a wall of silence when the CEO is asked questions, or him to give a stock business response "announcements will be made through official channels". That would be a step backwards - I hope fans continue to have the engagement we've got just now.
Serious question....does anyone know what style of play we are trying to implement ?? ...
My mate was watching us for Ross County today and we had a long conversation about what we are trying to do and we can’t work it out..
The defenders we have cannot play out from the back and resort to punts up the park
The midfield today were totally missing ...strange to come on here and see people saying that Slattery was good and O’Hara had a good game ..really !!... both were a mile off the pace...in fact the guy sitting next to me said he thought Slattery must have had a good night out last night ..he was that poor.
The front 3 are so isolated week in week out ....nobody links anything from midfield to front ...
One other point we talked about was how bad we were at the basics ...first touch was a joke from quite a few and how many players looked at least a yard off the pace compared to the Dundee guys..
But .....after saying all that , we won 1-0 ....work that one out ....it’s a funny old game !!!!
Grimshaw gave the ball away time, after time after time.
To be fair so did O'Hara but that's no star on Grimshaw's report.
We have a team that is almost completely bereft of any technical ability. I'm not going to judge some of the newer player right now but on todays performance it was pretty much Kelly, Watt and 9 fit lads. None of them were footballers.
It definitely has, I certainly wouldn’t argue with that.
I was sceptical when Burrows replaced Dempster but I feel that he’s grown into the role and has been good for us overall. He hasn’t got everything right, granted, but I feel like he is doing a good job.
I thought against Hibs Van Veen dropping deep combined with Woolery's pace to get in behind caused their defensive line a lot of problems. Watt was quiet that day but has found his form so I think the three of them together will cause teams problems with their movement.
I have to wholeheartedly disagree with this.
Sieb was up there with one of the best goalkeepers we have had.
He was a good shotstopper, but his prowess on cross balls into the box was almost ridiculous, Hence the shout "Sieeeeeeeeb!" I agree he did endear himself to the fans to an extemt and wee Tommys chagrain for his penchant for dribbling out of his box and he did make the occasional mistake which tended to be of the howler variety, but to suggest he wasnt a very good goalkeeper just doesnt sit right with me.....
I think GA has an idea, but with so many new players, injuries, illnesses, unfit personnel it's been difficult to put it in action. I doubt today's starting lineup is his first choice.
The positive is that we've been picking up points while we try and put it together. Arguably, our best performance was the game we lost. Fitba' eh?
I thought we won today and were sitting fourth in the table above Celtic and Rangers ? Must have been another Motherwell as it appears this one isn't very good
Quicker GA settles on a formation that suits the players then we might get a bit of cohesion going forward if Goss and Slattery are playing then it looks like a 4 4 2
Motherwell agree fee for Norwegian centre-back Sondre Solholm Johansen
Motherwell have agreed a fee for Norwegian defender Sondre Solholm Johansen.
The 26-year-old centre-back's club, Mjondalen, announced that their player would play his final Norwegian top-flight match on Saturday before joining Motherwell subject to agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.
Motherwell boss Graham Alexander earlier outlined his aims ahead of Tuesday's transfer deadline after bringing in midfielder Sean Goss on Thursday.
"If we can get two more players in, I think we will have a very strong squad," said Alexander ahead of Saturday's cinch Premiership visit of Dundee.
"We are talking to a couple of clubs about a couple of players. Hopefully that will progress over the weekend."
I think we are pretty lucky to have such a open CEO running our club like the way he goes about addressing things and wouldn't be shocked if he has actually turned down a few job offers to stay with the club he truly loves.
A False 9 means a player that sits somewhere between a traditional centre forward and the playmaker at 10.
There's no truth to the rumour that it's more recently become shorthand for Curtis Main.
the stats suggest VV will score more goals than Watt or Woolery. He looks like an out and out striker to me.
Watt sitting behind them would work really well.
TBH I don't know what Woolery's best position is. He has pace to burn and looks to have a decent touch, but not obviously a wide player and doesn't have a good enough strike rate to be an out and out striker.
