  1. So I took out of that, we arent fit enough. Some players didnt get enough minutes in pre season to give us options and some of the players are low in confidence and need built back up. Quite a damning indictment on our recently departed manager.......

  2. Hammel speaks from the heart . Hard not to love this guy and hope he gets the job .

  3. Prefer our managers to be ones that haven’t played for either Celtic or Sevco if we can avoid it, while I will of course still get behind them the sooking up to them can get really annoying at times Stuart McCall was the prime example of this

  4. Steve Austin in slo-mo is quicker than ojala. And I refer to the six million dollar man for lovers of classic 70's TV, not the wrestler.

  5. Amen, I can’t remember a single time a players performance improved by getting abuse. On the other hand giving support has strange way of improving confidence.

  6. Not at all. I think in those days fans were a bit more rational when it came to certain other teams. Since then sporting dislike has turned to obsessive hatred for some. A blight that sadly affects more than Motherwell. "Tribal" is the word often used.

  7. Most of our recent managers have had that mindset. Only two that didn't seem afflicted were Baraclough and Alexander, two guys not steeped in Scottish domestic football. I will always maintain that most of our other recent managers would have lost that playoff to Rangers. Baraclough for all his faults, and he had many, seemed to go in with the attitude that as the Premier League team that of course we were going to win...

  9. Hes a good character to have in the Scottish game but the reality is dick campbell is nothing more than a lower league manager.

  10. also if we did run our leagues at different times to the english, there may be more tv money. interest etc but we have been saying it for years with no moves to change

  11. funny how most people want to pick roughly the same team as Alexander picked

  12. If we’re discussing our signings this early, heralded as adding to our attacking options Spittal wouldn’t feature high for a few I’d suggest on account he’s yet to make a forward pass since he arrived.

  13. I think our hand will be forced somewhat tomorrow with injuries and suspensions. With McGinn, Lamie and Slattery all likely to be out. Id still like to see us move away from 4-3-3 and with a weeks extra training it should be possible. Something like Kelly SOD Mugabi Sol Carroll Maguire Cornelius Spittal Goss Tierney KVV

  14. Im with you and whilst he may be a good coach ( i dont know) he has only done as you say which is not a great cv and also imo is like a load of OF ex players who sook up their arse at any opportunity. Just read derek mcinness interview there about kilmarnock game v rangers tomorrow and my god its nauseating for me never mind how a kilmarnock fan must feel. Im now warming more to the idea of hammell due to his work with youths, his loyalty shown to us over the years and also he seems to be a likeable guy with an affection for the players that was shown albeit only once last sunday . This may not suit some who say he's not best man for job due to inexperience but everyone starts somewhere. A left field appointment which we have done over the years would also sit ok but like others im getting a bit fed up of us signing majority from lower english leagues and getting maybe 1 in 5 right or even less Last nights dundee utd team is a template of where i feel/wishwe should be headed and yes we cant compete with them financially but have signed similar in past like ex scotland experienced internationals mulgrew/fletcher see faddy, pearson, mcmanus to help with their youth coming through that they have a lot as well as spfl experience in edwards, sibbald, watt see lasley hammel craigan etc then they are signing some good young players from bigger clubs teams like levitt, middleton see randolph, mccormack etc. Yes they may have pushed boat out and it could all come crashing down and I am not suggesting we break the bank but its a template similar to that we have used in past and it works.

  15. So Slattery who was totally out classed against Sligo is still being held up as some kind of answer to the midfield problem time to smell the coffee sorry to burst a lot of bubbles but he ain’t the answer more the problem

  16. What baffles me Is why don’t we in Scotland start our season earlier and benefit from being 20 games into our season lots of Scottish teams get pumped year in and out - I’d be a fan of finishing the season on Jan and starting back March /April summer football - yes please downside is the risk on international tournaments - I can live with that risk

  17. Worth pointing out that Viking are 17 league games into their season. So had played 19 competitive matches before tonight ! Does not take away from our insipid displays and under preparation but no chance Sligo were catching Viking cold…..

  18. I’m not convinced we are so much better than Sligo that we should have taken five off them, but we most certainly should not have lost 0-3 on aggregate to them while barely managing a meaningful effort on target over the two games. As I said last week that is right up there with the worst results we’ve had in our history. Though that’s always a risk when you shitfest your way into European football despite only winning three league games since the turn of the year with a manager who makes needless changes almost every single week, shows no gameplan and then tries to tell everyone that black is white after just about every abject, dismal performance.

  19. Do lower league teams not have the same issues?

  20. Im in a minority of one. I couldn't care less who we get because no fans myself included are in anyway qualified to determine whether someone will be good bad or indifferent managing Motherwell. There are no guarantees no matter who they are. We will get who we will get and those in charge of the club are paid to do the necessary due diligence.
