  3. Is it too soon for "What do Northern Ireland and the Scottish Premiership have in common? County Down" Probably, but the caffeine has just kicked in and I'm on a roll (and bacon).

  4. I do understand that to a point MJC and I have felt anger and frustration when playing both sides of the OF but by being dragged into that bitterness and hatred as Motherwell fans we become no better than either Rangers or Celtic who collectively have stained the culture of life in the West of Scotland for a century. It can be difficult sometimes but I try to focus on Motherwell's positive achievements rather than getting caught in the bitterness of the OF rivalry. I did take joy from Motherwell winning that day but I took no joy whatsoever from having a helping hand in Rangers winning the league. Let's not kid ourselves, had the role been reversed and we had been playing Rangers that day the build up from the press and their fans would have been exactly the same. Both Rangers and Celtic have proved that time and again.

  5. For the entire week leading up to that game all we were being told about was how Celtic were coming to Fir Park to win the league. How their fans had bought tickets for the home ends in their thousands and there was nothing we could do about it except sit, watch then slink away to leave them to celebrate winning the league at OUR home ground. That their obnoxious, sanctimonious, smug, arrogant followers were going to party in our stands as they cheered Martin O’Neill, Chris Sutton, Neil Lennon etc parading the league trophy around FP. So to stop them doing all of that, to rip it out their grasp and hand it to their bitter rivals with minutes to go and get the satisfaction and the glory of seeing them all deflated, broken and in tears was absolutely epic. Each to their own, absolutely, but to me only winning a trophy would top the feeling I got that day. We’ve had bigger and more important results over the years since that day, but 22/05/05 was just so, so deliciously sweet.

  6. And as if there aren't already enough reasons to dislike Celtic, there's also Tom Boyd. The last Motherwell FC captain to lift silverware or not the man is an absolute wank.

  7. Not wishing to contradict SK but KVV is a very good example of a player with an ego in the most positive sense: great self-confidence, which many Dutch players have naturally. His goal today stemmed from a long clearance out right which might have ended up as just a corner for most attackers at best but look how he finished. Great credit to the manager for setting up in the best formation for our limited resources. The players seem to believe in him and a result like today can only bolster this.

  8. I really hope he gets to that 30 that he wants also I hope he has a big fat goal bonus in that contract aswell. He deserves it. Let's hope the split is kind to us.Up the Well!

  9. Totally agree, for someone that started there career with us then won the scottish cup as captain you would think he would show the club more respect, his antics before the 2011 final were a disgrace, lapping up the attention from the celtic end then soon as he got to ours he was kissing the celtic badge on the scarf round his neck, supposedly he was a drunken bam to some of our fans in hospitality that day as well.

  10. Can I ask Grizz criticism in what way? From what I could see he was playing in a honking formation, with honking tactics but still scoring goals.Would even go as far as saying he probably kept Stevie in a job longer with his goals he scored. Was one of the players that for me was unfairly getting brunt of the abuse considering he looked like the only one doing his job.

  11. He was saying Kyogo is "the most compassionate player in the game". Not sure if anyone else notices, but he often leaves the boot in/puts in late challenges. Goes under the radar because he shakes people's hand and acts apologetic all the time.

  13. Missed the game today cause of work (probably a good thing, cause i'm a jinx) and just got into car to come home as injury time was starting, so had time to get home and have ma dinner before the final whistle 🙂 Well done 'Well !! Great to take points of these c**ts. Now, 5 wins after the split please......

  14. Exactly. Not sure why the ref played 9 mins. There was no wasted time in the 7 mins. Of course we took our time at goal kicks, throw ins etc but if you don’t want teams to do that then you need to make sure you are in the lead. That same point applies to us too. No point in moaning when other teams do that it’s up to us to not get in that position

  17. Radio Scotland? They've been saying it's a great result for us and what a brilliant job Kettlewell's done. Even Peter Grant said how well we played.

  20. Them and old Keevins over on Clyde. Get it right up them and Tom Boyd and the regulars in the Railway Tavern. Great result. But we’re not safe yet.

  22. FFS give us peace with the "we can still get relegated " negative doom and gloom patter, it getting boring and tiresome now, try moaning about something else and give us some variety.

  24. Yeah the last couple of weeks have been frustrating. Had Utd not scored the last minute winner against Hibs… Had we turned up against Utd at home last week and not threw away a 1-0 lead… If Utd and Killie didn’t both win today while we lose at Parkhead… It just has that feel of everything going against us just now and we could easily be sucked into trouble. We desperately need the post split fixtures to throw up some kind and winnable fixtures in the first couple of games so we can put this to bed asap.

  25. Ah the MFC tv commentator is in sparkling form already, “I forgot to mention that Motherwell are in their usual kit”. What? It’s TV we can see that for ourselves

  27. Healthy dislike for both of them, for differing reasons. Rangers have the entitlement, arrogance and NI nonsense. Celtic have the entitlement, a victim complex and the NI nonsense.

  28. Spittal is a bit like Goss, in that he is a decent footballer, but not so great on the defensive side and prone to switching off and dropping his man. He has been much better under Kettlewell than he was under Hammell or Alexander, probably because Kettlewell has set the team up to get the best out of the players he has at his disposal and cover up for the deficiencies. With Tierney and Danzaki, the only obvious replacemements, both still coming back from injuries, there is no way Spittal will or should be dropped for this game. We need some sort of creativity in the team and if we dont go 2 up top today, as is likely, then he is the player most likely to get up in support of KVV. He is far from perfect, but a far better player than some of our support give him credit for.

  29. I really feel that we could sneak a draw today. It would be a huge point if we can get it Of the matches mentioned above, the 4-2 semi final game was my favourite. One of the best nights ever, football or not, with some world class goals thrown in For all I enjoyed the play offs eventually it was a nerve shredding week that I would not like to experience again. Skippy Sunday did nothing for me other than the normal satisfaction that comes from beating the OF. It had been an average season generally for Motherwell and I have never really understood the joy with which some Motherwell fans celebrated that result. Each to their own I suppose.

  30. I never ever ever buy into referee paranoia but you are absolutely right, Thompson simply did not like us one bit and went out his way to fuck us at EVERY opportunity.

  31. The number he wants to focus on is his passing accuracy. 66% so far this season. Stinking.

  32. Skippy Sunday was a glorious day . That Celtic team with O’Neill was without a doubt the one I have disliked the most down the years Always did think it would have been funny to do the same thing to Rangers as well, then the play offs happened which was even better in my opinion . A 6-1 drubbing over two legs when everyone was confident they would take their rightful place back up at our expense One of my favourite wins over Celtic in Glasgow as well was the 1-0 when Kevin Twaddle scored and we played most of the game with 10 men . Sure Ian Wright was signed the same day and was going to be the saviour
