  1. Odd? If you take the manager’s words too literally, maybe. The key point being made was we need to move players out before we bring others in which is a different thing to not having money to sign players unless we move players on. Simply, the numbers don’t stack up squad wise. Leading to your next point, moving the players out is the clearing the decks of rubbish as you put it. Nothing to suggest the board aren’t backing Kettlewell. Too many variables, the process is a slow burner - some just need to suck it up. Proactive or Reactive decisions by the board are for another debate, I’m not sure Kettlewell was bemoaning anything at all and favour it was a thinly veiled dig at previous management.

  2. And anyone who's old enough to remember will recall that people used to say that Willie Pettigrew 'couldn't play football' and only scored goals 😁

  3. You don't see a lot of him in those clips, but Vid Davidson was one of the most supremely talented footballes I've ever seen. he used to get criticised for being a bit 'lightweight'......but what a footballer he was.

  4. That mid 70s squad was the best I've seen in all my years of going to Fir Park. As Grizzly says it had a good blend of everything. Skill, pace, character and hardness.

  6. 1) these days Marinello would have gone to the Sporting Chance Clinic, cleaned up his act and stayed with Arsenal (still one of my favourite ever 'Well players, though)

  7. Something that Ketts didn’t mention on Saturday was the chunk of money that it took to fix the front of the Hunter Stand .. that was a big outlay that hadn’t been planned for ..

  8. We get this story every transfer window. They said that in January window and just about every transfer window in the last 10 years. Yet we still signed 9 players in January. It's like a broken record that I now pay little attention to.

  9. I see we are trying to get Furlong back on loan be fantastic to get him for another season. Soon as he found his feet he was a solid week in week out.

  11. Started going in 1977 as a five year old, great side and no shrinking violets, great blend of skilful players and physical ones who you would want in your corner

  12. Now that one depends on how good you are and what your temperament is like 😄 i’m not very good but my temperament still allows me to relax and enjoy it.

  13. Maybe I should have substituted 'think about' for worry as like you two I'm more philosophical as time goes by. But when the season starts, as a shift worker, the process of making sure I'm off for home games begins. I know the World Cup was a factor this season, but generally close season seems shorter than before. Not a fan of the league cup format although I know it's here to stay. If you add in 'non-Motherwell' football like the Scotland games at the end of the season, sometimes it feels like football never goes away at all. And I like football, but sometimes even I feel like my wife who doesn't when she says 'I thought the season was over?'...

  14. The long season was largely due to the enforced break for the world cup. Should be more of a break next summer. Like joewarkfanclub, however, as I get older I am less affected by poor results. I'm sure that's also due to distance and early kickoffs for me. I'm totally immersed for the duration of the game and desperately want a win every time, but by lunchtime I'm over bad one.

  16. I'm usually not one to critricise the club, but I feel that something hasn't been right over the past year off the field. There's a number of unfilled posts (CEO, Communications etc), mistakes have been made eg Hammell's appointment and GA's extension and sacking; Alan Burrows surprise departure; relationship with the fans has deteriorated; and the club has been rudderless. Now the Society may have had a part fo play in all this too. Something needs to change off the field.

  18. Mandron signs for Buddies. Unusual for them to sign an ex well player. Probably tempting fate when they play us but I am glad we didn't offer him a new deal
