  3. He's taking flak because he slagged off those very same players when we signed them (Higdon being a classic example, but there are many others). He also complains about the level of every player we sign and points out we should be signing much higher quality without ever providing a single example of any player we could have signed that meets those criteria. It's pointless, boring and a pretty tired trope for every player we sign to be labelled as useless before they even turn up at Fir Park. "It's all about opinions" is why climate change deniers still get air time on TV and some people in the US still think Trump is president. Sometimes wrong is just wrong and trolling is just trolling.

  4. I normally disagree with a lot of what you post but I think you're taking unfair flak here. You're not suggesting we sign Kane or Haaland, you're suggesting players of a level we have signed before. I said to someone last night we should be looking for the striker equivalent of the Macedonian midfielder. Someone who is maybe a bit of a gamble but who has a degree of a track record... On a more general note, it seems like for some you aren't allowed to question the quality of any new signings. For me, it's fair game. But if you dare to suggest that you think someone is not good enough on the basis of your track record, you get shouted down on here. If people want to suggest they think Bair isn't good enough on what they saw at St Johnstone, they're entitled to. I remember people being really unimpressed we were signing Brian Martin. I say this as someone who believes that sometimes it just clicks for a player at a certain club and not at others (John Sutton) so am generally willing to give folk a chance. But I respect people's right to base their opinion on someone's track record without a response of "saying he's pish before he's played for us"... It's all about opinions...

  5. Where's the wind up? I'm pointing out to the brown nosers who are already making excuses that we can't sign anyone decent that they are talking pish. We have signed good players in the recent past and if a manager is saying that he can only manage decline in the squad then he's no good to us.

  7. If Bair signs then SK has obviously had a look and must see something in him. None of us are football managers so need to trust his judgement and give the player a chance. We are far too quick judge a player after about 20 mins into a debut. I am not convinced about Wilkinson but I will give him 3 months before making a judgement

  8. Think you've already made your judgement.

  9. I think it's clear that those judgements have been made already, regardless of where we are in the season. The die has been cast, so to speak, as far as some are concerned. We're Motherwell. We undoubtedly will sign some flops, and we will go through a spell where we look gash. That's all it takes to fuel the fire of certain forum members, so I expect the same chat as we get every season from them.

  13. Well as things stand it’s a case of “so far, so good” from Stuart Kettlewell’s management of the team. To come in in February and lead us to relative safety from the position we were in when he took over was an excellent achievement so he deserved huge credit for that. What now though as we enter his first full season? We’ve lost KvV and Johnston, two of the key players in the Kettlewell revival last season and the signings we’ve made so far and the squad options aren’t exactly inspiring. But there is of course still time and the manager deserves his chance to get his first full transfer window under his belt before any judgements are made. At the moment he has done well enough but I have concerns heading into the new season. edit: just noticed the Stuart Kettlewell discussion thread. Feel free to delete or merge this.

  14. i'm genuinely not sure if this is a wind up, I'm going to say it is, and move on.

  15. It does seem like Kettlewell has found Robinson's blarney stone and added a bit of LinkedIn patter. It's all self promotion and he obviously knows there's a good chance none of his signings will impress so he's getting his excuses in early.

  16. Just checked back to when Efford signed in Jan 22. Official website said he was contracted to May 23. Same thing happened with O'Donnell, another year added to his deal but no announcement made by the club as far as I can see.

  17. I agree. The tone came across very much that Joe just doesnt fancy it. I think he always had a year left on his deal. I dont remember him getting an extension. Sheilds got game time in Holland and he is away Fits very much with SK's "They are our contracted players and I will continue to work with them" attitude. Until of course they are not our players. He also dropped hints that certain players didnt fit his style of play. Given his apparent preference for 3-5-2 you would struggle to see where Efford fits into that. Whether thats the case or not and whether thats linked to this latest "injury" is obviously pure speculation, but it passes the time! 😉

  18. I'm glad the forum didn't exist when Lama TT signed a Mr Arnott from the juniors. Funny thing is signing any player is a gamble and that's the market we operate in, we're bottom feeders looking for the odd gold nugget in the dirt, or develop local talent, where the fuck has everyone been for the last 132 years (Boyle's scatter cash year omitted, but even then we signed some expensive shite)

  19. I can’t be arsed checking but how many goals did KVV score before and after SK arrival? perhaps he has a knack for getting the best out of players? I really don’t know but just a thought.

  20. It was bad enough signing Obika who was hopeless for us. Signing a guy who was even worse for St Johnstone is fucking unbelievable. Does Kettlewell think talking pish in BBC interviews can replace scoring goals? You genuinely have to wonder what he is thinking about with these signings.

  21. I confidently predict both of them will be labeled as 'shite' prior to playing for us and missing any chances in their first appearances will see them promoted to 'wage thief'.
