Having seen a few keepers in my time at Fir Park I'd rate Kelly at about a 6.5 or 7 out of ten. Slightly better than average. A lot were worse, a good few have been better.
As mentioned one of my frustrations is the lack of shots, we approach the box then switch it wide. Bair took a shot and scored. Until anyone else achieves this I think he should start.
Two that I remember with fondness
Hugh Sproat and Big Sieb.
Any keeper willing to swing on the bar or ready to destroy anyone who came into his box is a winner in my eyes.
1987 cup Replay v Hearts.....I was a heartbroken 15 year old that night as I was convinced we would win the cup that year. Gardiner howler still etched on my brain
We need to do better at creating chances. We were doing a good job at that for a while but not a shot on target first half of the Aberdeen game. An earlier post made a fair point that it doesn’t matter when you score as long as you score more than the other team but the trouble is we are not scoring more than the other team and are having to leave ourselves even more open at the back than we already are. The players need to up their work rate, intensity and focus because that seems to be the difference between winning games and losing games. We know they can do it and they know they can do it so they just need to get it done.
This seasons win record is 30%, if this continues we will be concerned but it's only 10 games. Had we won an additional game it would be 40%, more than respectable for any Well manager.
From the 29 games SK has managed we have a win record of 52%. Awesome, that's up there with the best of them.
Assuming we can improve from 30% to +35% for the season we'll be fine.
The key for now is breaking the run of form and finding a way to win.
I think it’s perfectly clear the realists among us knew that going into the season with the forward line we acquired it always had the potential of being a shocker.
My late Gran had more bite with her false teeth out than this crop of Forwards so so poor.
