  1. Im still on the fence with Kettlewell after today for a miriad of reasons. The most important is that I really want him to succeed and see us end this cycle of ditching managers every 8 months as that in itself will eventually result in a relegation. We cant keep spunking money on managers and allowing them to change the squad every window. We arent flush with cash and we need to spend it wisely in order to remain competitive. If we were detatched at the bottom and/or the players had chucked it, then I would back a change immediately as relegation would be imminent in any case. But we are not there yet. We are still in touch with the teams above us and the players, regardless of how poorly they have been playing, repeatedly go to the end for the manager. Having a habit of digging points out of nothing from nowhere is a good habit to have. The same players also produced some of the best football Ive seen us play since McGhees first spell as recently as 10/11 games ago. That said, we cant ignore the run we are on and we really really need to get a win from somewhere soon. Todays team selection, albeit somewhat enforced, was closer to what we should be looking like. We were much harder to break down and St Johnstone offered nothing until Kelly gifted them their goal. Stop doing that and you get a foundation to play from. Davor looked more than decent today and if Gent hadnt had such a good game he would have been my MOTM. He, Gent and Spencer should definitely keep their places. SK wasnt fired after Tuesday, so he wont be fired after today. I think he can still turn this around. But he needs to take some ownership for the poor decisions he has made in the last few weeks and be brave in his decision making in the next few weeks if he is to make it to the transfer window. I understand how difficult it is to drop your captain when he is a Scottish international and was a major part of your early success, but at some point you need to take the player out of the firing line before his confidence is damaged ireparably. If Oxborough is that bad then he really shouldnt be at the club. I thought SOD actually had a decent enough game today at RCB but if he is to keep his place it shouldnt be at the expense of Spencer or Gent. Once Butcher, Casey and McGinn are fit, then they should be the ones in the conversation to pick the best 3 from 6 centrebacks. If he does make it to the window then SK also needs to take ownership of transfers. There is clearly a huge question mark over Daws and what if any value he brings to the club. I wouldnt be trusting him in isolation if my job depended on it. If he gets all that right, and its a huge if, he might just get thru this. If not, he will either be gone, or we could be staring a relegation in the face.

  2. If I knew who the next manager was going to be, I might well agree, but I'm not convinced we won't be jumping into the fire if he goes. So, as long as the players continue to show fight (if hee haw else) I'll say stick with him. And I fully realise how ridiculous that sounds after 13 winless games.

  3. I have never , and I mean never in my life in football .. whether playing or coaching or scouting or whatever.. have I saw a player or team who ups their game when they are getting dogs from the stands. By all means boo and shout what you want after the final whistle , but from the first to the last whistle support your team !!! Any players I have played with getting it in the neck , basically just hide / down tools and the team will never suddenly play silky stuff when the crowd is on their backs …it just doesn’t happen.

  4. I think that the key difference is the performances which aren't as bad as when Hammel was in charge. Going into the last ten minutes one or two goals down, Hammell's team would not have fought back to win points.

  5. Four last minute equalisers plus coming from 0-2 down in Perth to draw have certainly helped his cause. Had we lost those games then we’d be one point ahead of Livingston with them having two games on hand over us. And that’s before you take into account the last minute winner against Kilmarnock back in August. Teams scoring last minute game changing goals will always be viewed as being lucky and in our case this season I think that’s a fair accusation. But at the same time the game lasts as long as it does until the final whistle blows and we have now managed to salvage potential dropped points in the dying minutes/seconds on no fewer than five occasions this season. A total of six points snatched in the 90th + minute. That’s quite impressive and points to a good, ‘fight to the death’ mentality within the team. We also scored a last minute leveller against Celtic at Fir Park in September only to concede a winner just seconds later so there definitely is some kind of ‘never say die’ mood in this team. Our biggest problem though is that we just lack basic ability throughout the squad.

  6. I never said it never happened. Just said I never understood it. Totally counter productive. Pretty sure the fans berating the players want the team to do better. But their actions arent going to help. Players being told they are shite mostly go into their shell and become frightened to try anything remotely risky. Its why a run of results like this becomes self perpetuating as confidence drains game by game. By all means, berate away, but you arent helping the team by doing so.

  7. I would start Davor and Gent again and probably Bair alongside Mika. SK must be thinking hard about dropping Kelly.

  8. It was Georgie Gent but Davor ran him close then Bair came on, had two attempts at goal then a perfect cross for the goal. A day for the underdog.

  9. We never looked like winning this game and I didn’t think we deserved to, but to be fair I didn’t think we deserved to lose it either. St.Johnstone are a poor outfit who created nothing and only got a goal thanks to our keeper making an utter horlicks of a cross. However whilst home draws against teams like this are better than defeats they will ultimately be our downfall. I’m afraid Stuart Kettlewell is out of his depth and does not appear to have the answer to our present predicament. The board must now decide quickly whether they are going to keep him or get rid and if it’s the former, come out and say so.

  10. I think it's fair to say we're all scunnered. The way I look at it, whatever happens to Kettlewell will happen, but like MJC said, these late points might just save us in the end.

  11. Oh great we scored a last minute goal to scrape another draw vs St Johnstone 😒 So we can look forward to watching us play under Kettlewell next week again, Excellent

  12. Gent and Zdravkovski who’ve spent most of their time warming the bench are our two best players today.

  14. Pish. That's no better than our commentator constantly getting Obika and Mugabi mixed up.

  15. Weird one today. I thought we played some decent football at times and seemed much more confident in defence than we have in previous weeks. Delighted that Gent and Davor had strong performances today, Gent should be one of the first names on the team sheet from now on and I’d expect to see Davor feature much more too. The mistake from Kelly at the St Johnstone goal is amateur stuff, really poor and I don’t think Obika offered much - he can hold up the ball pretty well, but that’s it eh? Absolutely murder in front of goal. The goal we score is sublime. When I was leaving today, I heard someone say “they were gutted we scored” and I’ve seen a lot of that on social media and on this thread too. I can’t get my head round that way of thinking. It’s fucking bizarre. when we punted Hammel and Alexander the players had totally downed tools, it seemed hopeless, but I don’t get that feeling with this team. They’re all up for it, I just don’t think the quality is there. There is obviously an argument that much of this team are Kettlewell signings, of course, so do we trust him with the transfer window? I really don’t know. My gut tells me that sacking SK at this stage would be a mistake, but I do think we need to be having a major conversation about how our club is being run from the top. Anyways, had wee Mika at 9/4 anytime goal scorer so I proper fucking enjoyed that one.

  18. PS A word for the ref today? I like a guy who tries to let the game flow and keeps his cards in his pocket, but cheesey peeps! The repetitive fouling and shirt pulling from some of their players was ridiculous! Jayesimi in particular was one of the worst offenders! Hiw he wasnt carded Ive no idea! Rant over.......

  20. Gave it to Gent but I thought that Davor had a good game too as did SODs at centre half.

  21. In their position, would you rather have the points or the games?
    1 point
  22. we have won eight points from losing positions in the Scottish Premiership this season - more than any other team apparently. Hey Stuart, new team talk plan, send them out after telling them they’re two down.

  23. As I said following the previous last-minute draw, this result is merely papering over the cracks and prolonging the inevitable.

  24. It appears that Kelly could pump Kettlewells wife and he'd still be the first name on the sheet. How bad is Ox if he can't get a chance???

  26. It should be the end of the line for me I really can't seeing this change and it would would be utterly irresponsible of the board to give him the transfer window. I really don't want to hear we are this much points off this much place above we are joint 2nd bottom of the league ffs that's the matter of fact we haven't won a league game for over 3 months and don't look like we are winning one anytime soon. Also these players have never gave up on Kettlewell that's just a poor excuse cause the amount of last 5 minutes goals we have scored doesn't tell me that's a team that's still willing to fight so clearly it's a management issue. I would happily take a free hit against At Mirren and Rangers if it involves getting a new manager in and a whole transfer window to try fix things.

  27. Livi now 5 points adrift thankfully. I think this gives us some breathing space and there’s only 3 points separating the next 5 teams, so it’s not all lost. the fact we seem to keep fighting to get something out of games is a positive, so there is some pride in there somewhere.

  28. your right BB but you know whats good about him he gets fucked right in and breaks play up just what we need , and your right ffs man if he had macheted one of us he wouldv only got booked

  31. He needs to go - it’s a joke and easily as bad as GA and SH time at the club . need to move on now , let SK and his backroom team return to punditry . het rid of Dawes and bring in the new manager ahead of Xmas to give time to assess and find Jan signings

  33. It might be the end of SK, but who'd select the next lamb to be slaughtered? I've never agreed with fan ownership at this level, and our "leadership" havened even been able to get a decent replacement for Burrows, so while we moan about what's happening on the park, that's the tip of the iceberg, in my opinion. Where there is no vision the team will perish.

  34. Honestly surprised that Kelly hasn’t been dropped recently - devoid of all confidence

  35. I’ve defended Kelly up until now but my god that was like an outfield player playing in goal. Utterly embarrassing for a so called international keeper

  37. thats what a lack of confidence will do, players hiding and not showing for the ball.

  38. Distinct lack of quality by both teams - if there was ever a game we could and should win it’s this one

  39. Decent start, Gent is much better going forward than O'Donnell or Spencer being forced to play on the left. Hopefully he becomes a regular starter.

  40. Happy to see Gent starting, looks a wee bit suspect defending but two young attacking full backs who can get us up the park quickly will help us out. Quietly hopeful of a win today. It's the fuckin hope that kills you though.

  43. Always remember this guy in the East Stand , 2000s era He would always shout Come on to f*k Stevie , then hit his leg in anger for about 10 seconds Could have been talking about Craigan , Hammell or McMillan

  44. I think a massive problem with our support, certainly based on those around me, that there's a bunch of people who go because they love to shout abuse at the players. They're just waiting for a mistake so they can tell them they're shite. They'll get abuse if we do something as radical as keeping possession. Of course, I accept our current form is much worse that it's been in a very long time, but we can be third in the league and the atmosphere can still be pretty toxic. So by all means, do what you like, we're all paying customers, but I find a lot of it a bit weird.
