  1. On the subject of offering extensions or new contracts to existing players here’s my thoughts There’s a lot worse players than many of them and yes they have shortcomings but whoever we sign will be the same. Kettlewell knows them and I’m sure one of the reasons why he’s ok with giving them new deals is that throughout the season these guys stuck by him, didn’t down tools and managed to scrape through. Personally I believe that if the team hadn’t stuck together and believed in the manager then we would have been relegated. Next season’s going to be rough if our targets keep choosing our rivals over us leaving us with no one if we let these guys go. So in short the manager knows that - even if they’re only squad players - these guys will have confidence in him, help integrate the new signings without being pissed off if they’re not first pick, back him up if needed, bring some calmness and help keep the dressing room together if things get tough. If I was a manager I’d be looking for that from them.

  2. I've told this story many times, I was working at FP the day he signed, testing the fire alarm, I was sure I had disconnected all the sounders, however missed the one along the corridor where Lama Tomtom's office was, after a bit he bursts into the tunnel face beaming red, 'I'm in there trying to sign a player and can't hear myself over the racket you're making!' 'Who are we signing?' I shout back, 'Davie Cooper' he replies. 'Aye right!' I shout back, 20 minutes later the deal is done.

  3. Agreed. As my Dear Old Dad used to say, at Shawfield you could hit a ball in Lanarkshire and score a goal in Glasgow. Also the site of the great Clyde substitution urban myth, "Goad! Theyr'e takin' aff Ahern and bringin oan a haddie!"

  5. Away to Clyde guarantees a large away support, nice wee local trip. Be interesting with Edinburgh city as heard a few rumours they could be close to going out the game

  8. We would lose to Airdrie, home or away, nothing surer.

  9. Sale of the Century! Pretty apt we played in Matchwinner kit at that time! Id forgotten he had been in the squad for the Norway game. I had it in my head that he got recalled for the provisional squad that went to Genoa for a PR trip and then got injured before the finals. I do remember Jock Brown asking him in a post match interview about Scotland and him saying his Scotland days were over. Glad he was wrong. Even if he didnt get to the World Cup.

  10. Maybe he likes it here? Also possible (and for me, this is the likely scenario) that given he was coming to the end of his contract, his agent has already had a look at what other offers are out there and for a guy that has seen very little first team action in two years, clubs weren't exactly knocking down his door? I think the rush to assume Oxborough will be our number one next season is premature. I reckon when we see who else we sign in terms of goalkeeper, we'll know more...

  11. It's on Premier Sports YouTube and the SPFL's YouTube channel. Says it'll start at 1pm but these things never run on time.

  13. To be fair it must be torture for them just now, season finished, transfer window not open no rumours about incoming players they can label as pish, so every chance for a whinge is taken.
