  1. Celtic and Rangers aren’t playing until Sunday either. I know quite a number of them from both sides who regularly go along to fir park when their “big team” aren’t playing. Might swell the crowd a bit too. i actually spoke to an old duffer of a Celtic fan last week who said he’d stopped going to Celtic games altogether and goes to all the Motherwell home games now… said it was a better experience as it’s been poisonous at parkhead….. didn’t want to say to him that it’s been poisonous forever at parkhead.

  2. Now that we have gone through one round of games it's probably a good barometer on the team's progress. From my own point of view, I really think this is genuinely an exciting time for the club. The football we are playing is exceptional and like nothing I could ever have dreamed of seeing at Fir Park. I was chatting to a few mates, and I actually think the only game we have actually deserved to lose all season was the St Mirren semi final. If you look back at the league fixtures: Motherwell v Rangers - 1-1 - draw probably a fair result but could have nicked it. St Mirren 0 v 0 Motherwell - fair result Hearts 3 v 3 Motherwell -- should have won Motherwell 2- 2 Killie - Should have won Dundee 1 - 1 Motherwell - Should have won Motherwell 2- 0 Aberdeen - Justified Celtic 3 - 2 Motherwell - Draw probably would have been a fair result Motherwell 1 - 2 Falkirk - Game of two halfs- draw might have been a fair result. Livingston 1 - 2 - Fair result Motherwell 2 - 0 Dundee Utd - Fair result Aberdeen 1 - 1 Motherwell - Probably should have won it. Killie 1 - 3 Motherwell - Pumped them Motherwell 2 - 0 Hibs - Total domination. Every one of these games we have not been dominated by anyone and the really good thing about this is the trend we are moving towards - scoring goals and then controlling games, reducing the draws. Exciting times.

  3. Are we on the brink of a bright new dawn? Probably not but enjoy the ride just now...we will lose a few goals by playing out from back, the fans need to accept that.

  4. Last night proved we can rotate the starting eleven without shifting our fundamental approach. It also underlined JBA’s tactical nous in adapting formations to the game while keeping our style intact. With a few January ins/outs, we should only get better as the season progresses.

  5. Quick shout for Calum last night, ok he had little to do bar a couple of punches but his distribution was superb all night; he is integral to our new style of play.

  6. Wilson will be moving on, its clear he is not rated by JBA, hes got no pace and the fact he is not getting a game at Raith would suggest hes not that highly rated there either

  7. Must admit I did raise an eyebrow last night when I saw the team selection. But I neednt have worried. One of the most complete performances Ive ever seen from a Motherwell side. The players all now look so comfortable with what they are doing that there is a calmness about their play, and thats being transmitted to the stands. We are passing in areas that would have had us tearing our hair out at the start if the season, and its now just "normal" for us. Thats some transformation by the manager and players in such a short space of time. My only complaint about last night is we didnt put St Mirren to the sword and score 2 or 3 more and get 3rd spot outright. But thats just me being nitpicky. Although it looked like we were trying to score the perfect goal, second half, and turned down loads of opportunities to throw it in the box, it did mean we starved Hibs of any opportunity to catch us on the counter, probably something the manager has driven home after some of our early season collapses. Loved listening ro the manager talk about his change of tactics and thought processes last night, although, I might not have namechecked big Hanley! It doss show a higher level of tactical thinking than maybe we have been used to. Slightly concerned with no Stama on the bench last night. I hope it was just a matter of giving him the night off with a view to Hearts on Saturday. Another injury would be a bit annoying. Overall, very satisfying. Having rotated so heavily last night we should have plenty fresh legs for an entirely different challenge on Saturday. Life is good!

  8. Don’t see us getting anything from this one infact I think we could actually be on the end of a drubbing. 1-5 Hearts

  9. To be fair, like many teams visiting Fir Park this season, the version of Hibs that turned up tonight was the version our players and tactics created.

  10. Very impressed with our swift passing and movement last night, reminiscent of the Ancell Babes at their best by all accounts; only disappointment was not scoring more goals in the second half. Askou has broken the mould for the smaller clubs in the Premiership by insisting this kind of football is possible with imagination, good coaching and shrewd recruitment rather than the more unimaginative, defensive, physical grind dependent on set-pieces so typical of clubs outwith the OF. Perhaps this explains why some football pundits are eager for this great experiment to fail so clubs like us can get back in our box. I had a look at the btl comments by Hibs fans in the various Hibs videos post-match. Quite a few used the term "outclassed" to describe their team and while some complained about the penalty award and the sending off, others said we clearly deserved to win and congratulated us.. I hope we make amends on Saturday for only drawing at Tynecastle while up 0-3 but I think this will be a tremendous tussle worthy of a sell-out crowd. May The Force be with us.....

  11. That's the stuff, I would have panicked if you predicted a draw or well win 🤣🤣🤣

  12. Makes me nervous with so much “feel-good” press going on. Glad to see MJC prediction as I don’t like to see him forecasting wins for us.

  13. Yeh we played so poorly last night I tend to agree 😝

  14. No, for the simple reason when clubs like us are on the verge of something decent it's taken from us. Sportsound last night had already started the chat about Jens being taken from us. So enjoy it while it lasts because it will be fleeting.

  15. We had 5100 last night midweek and freezing so if we can get 6000 that's a crowd of nearly 11000

  16. Plus 6 minutes extra time in the first half equals 90.😁

  17. I came across this analysis on X by @johnwalker_1986 and was going to share on the Hibs thread, but this seems a more appropriate place given it shows how much of a transformation has taken place in such a short period of time. Frankly, it's astonishing; < Motherwell: Dominating Without the Ball A lot of praise has rightly went to Motherwell & Jens Berthel Askou for their work "With the Ball" but last night was a clinic on how to control a game "Without the Ball". Hibs Analysis > Wing-Backs High & Wide to Deliver > Hanley "Limited" Distribution Quality > Barlaser Key in Building Through Lines Motherwell Press: > Leave Hanley Spare > Front 2 Pressing Outside CB's > Just Blocking Barlaser > Triggers to Jump on Hanley After Bushiri Pass inside > Frustrates Wing-Backs to Drop Deeper & Deeper Just Intelligence & Scanning Elijah Just is one of the signings of the season, he has absolutely everything but last night his intelligence and technical ability without the ball was exceptional: > Regularity of Scanning for Barlaser > Blocks Barlaser & Creates Chances to Jump > Wins Penalty & Scores off the Back of that work Work-Rate When Broken Albeit happened only once in the 30mins the game was 11v11, it helps when players work-rate is at such a high intensity when Hibs did break through, Motherwell got back behind the ball & forced an error. Best Coached Side in the Country Currently 👌 >

  18. Given the radical overhaul of the way we were playing, I expected a lot more defeats early in the season, with the rewards not starting to come until after Christmas. I have been pleasantly surprised how quickly we were able to pick up points. The fact we were disappointed not to win some of the first few matches speaks volumes about the progress. It's been great to watch us develop, and the exciting thing is have barely started. Who knew letting footballers play football could be so entertaining?

  19. I see the whole Celtic management team were there last night. Surely they must look at their central defence and think it’s criminal to have let go of Welsh. I am a little concerned that they’ll want him back in January even though I think he was meant to be here for the season. the annoying thing is their fans think he’s hopeless and they will treat him like sh1t if he does go back there. He seems have have gotten a new lease of life at fir park…. We need him to stay.

  25. JBA has impressed from day one but tonight was further evidence that we have someone special on our hands. Changing shape to combat Hibs threat whilst integrating 5 changes couldn’t have been envisaged by anyone. For the players, some of whom have barely featured, to then look so comfortable in their roles is testament to the work on the training pitch and the clear instruction provided by the manager. Three wins in one week is a lot to ask for and Hearts will be much stiffer opposition than the version of Hibs that turned up tonight. However, we should be confident of beating anyone with the quality and intelligence we have at our disposal.

  26. Even before the sending off that is one of the most controlled and professional performances I have ever seen from a Motherwell side. Over 700 passes - I doubt we managed that in a full Graham Alexander season.

  27. Great result, really enjoyed that especially with 5 changes from Saturday. My only criticism was the fannying about 2nd half at 2-0 when a 3rd goal could have taken us 3rd. However that's just a minor complaint. Our possession was a joy to watch

  28. Top notch. For me that was our best performance of the season, at least that I've seen. A goal in the second half would have topped it off but other than that we were absolutely fantastic. Brilliant in possession, defended well when we had to, didn't lose composure when Hibs tried to press us high up the pitch, some great bits of skill from Said, game management was excellent, we just looked like a team that didn't have any weaknesses and that with perhaps not an optimum starting XI. And kinda on that subject, I thought Oscar Priestman was absolutely fantastic tonight. Got to say he hadn't shown me much in his sub appearances but I thought he was our best player tonight coming in for his starting debut.

  29. I'll be the first to admit, I thought Priestman looked shite in his first couple of cameos, but looked decent when he came on a couple of games ago and has been excellent tonight. Biggest compliment you can give is that so far, the midfield hasn't missed Fadinger and Slatts so far. I was worried about tonight cause Hibs have been a decent side so far this season, but we've been unreal. Like watching Spain from 2008
