  1. SOD signs new deal till Summer 2027. Delighted for him, such a loyal servant who has never hid despite the ridiculous stick he got last season at times. Been immense this season. That's what happens when you have a manager that allows you to play and express yourself instead of just saying 'lump it forward' Well done SOD

  7. Two things from today’s update that stood out for me: Hendry ā€œoverloadedā€ again. He’s barely played. A signing that just hasn’t worked out unfortunately. JBA the comedian: ā€œStephen’s [O’Donnell] back jammed up a little. He had to come off, but he managed to bend forward and sign a new deal with us. The back didn’t stop him, and he’s back in training.ā€ https://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2026/01/15/scottish-cup-team-news/

  8. Its a bit of a sh&t show at Park Head ( poor them ) Not only a replacement of manager but a replacement of the guy that made a chops of signing Nancy and a total mess of summer recruitment was binned. Suspect that they had a bunch of players lined up and they've had to cancel all of the above and almost start again to recruit. I can see why as a club they had to act by a certain date and recall players. I think there being pretty fair to outline that he could well come back to us by end of Window. Panic stations and Welsh gets caught in the crossfire.,

  9. To be fair, with Nancy in charge they told us he could stay. Then O’Neil came back and I’m assuming he said bring him back and let’s decide after the 14th. If O’Neil hadn’t came back till after 14th Welsh would have been here now.

  10. Wonder if we are looking at James Furlong. As for ODonnell, he has his weaknesses but in this system he has excelled. Valuable guy to have around. Good professional off field and useful backup when needed.

  11. Agreed. I was never in doubt that SOD has some football in him, but I did have some doubts about a few of his managers letting him show it. He seems like a great leader off the pitch, too.

  12. As much as I like Welsh, I'd rather see news of us signing a CB soon, otherwise we'll have to do it all again in a few months.

  13. Yip - excellent piece of business. Definitely wouldn't have said that 18 months ago. Well deserved SOD keep up the good work.

  14. And this is the man that left club due to 'personal abuse', sums him up.

  15. I bet they’ll play him against Auchinleck and then punt him back to us so he’s cup tied.

  19. Was very close to John, he and my dad went to school together and played badminton to a very high level, I'm sure John represented lanarkshire, and as luck would have it I worked in all his shops, farms, abattoirs, homes and through all of the post '91 upgrades at Fir Park. A fine innings at 93 and a tremendous gentleman to boot. RIP Mr Chapman, without your steady leadership and deep pockets to sign Davie Cooper, we may have had no club to support and no anniversary to celebrate in May.

  20. Whyte and mcallister are the next 2 youth players who have the potential to break into our first team. Whyte's getting games in L1 which will be good for his development and Mcallister is in our matchday squads at the moment so both will hopefully make it here.

  21. No team has dominated us this season, absolutely no one. Even the Stephen Robinson masterclass in the Cup was absolute bollocks. We just didn't show up in that one. As bad as we were had we not lost the 3rd goal when we did, we had momentum at that point, we shot ourselves in the foot with the 3rd goal gifting the game to a bog standard St Mirren team. We've only lost 3 games, in which we beat ourselves rather than the opposition turning us over. The kind of stats Motherwell have delivered this season I have never seen before in any of my 50 years watching us in the top flight so if we lose to Ross County it will be an enormous shock. I expect a hard game but we should be too good for them.
