A wee bit of self promotion, sort of! Myself and fellow Well fan Gary Muircroft (Crofty off Go Radio) have started a podcast called Motherwell Daft. It's available on You Tube, Spotify and Apple. We've done 2 episodes already, pre and post St Mirren. We plan to do a weekly preview and then review of all Motherwell matches, so any feedback is appreciated, not to mention likes, shares and for folk to subscribe! Cheers π2 points

The methodology for setting the post-split fixtures is flawed, unfair nonsense that gets zero proper scrutiny and shows little regard for fairness across the league.2 points

Would he be able to do that at a bigger club, though? I have my doubts, and feel that he is already at a place where he can do this.2 points

Top six now confirmed thanks to Dundee United and Aberdeen drawing tonight.1 point

Maybe. Maybe Jake Hastie got over it with his big wage bump for his Rangers contract. Maybe Reece McAlear got over it with his big wage bump for his Norwich contract. Maybe Stuart McKinstry got over it with his big wage bump for his Leed Utd contract You think Stuart McCall enjoyed managing Rangers as much as he enjoyed managing us? If someone is in it for the money, more power to them. I think, however, there is something to be said for enjoying your job, even (or especially) when that job is playing a game.1 point

The only way the Scottish media can generate clicks (or shift newspapers for the old school readers) is to mention the OF every day with a new story. Anyone who has any success is immediately linked to one of the Uglies. The only quotes you will see, if any, is some ex-player saying it's a good idea, and they will frame a headline as "JBA to Celtic" The entire Scottish media had Lennon Miller heading to Glasgow every day for the second half of last season. EDIT: Also, ditch Facebook. You'll thank me later.1 point

Does that mean he won't be able to play against us in the cup? What? Ah, never mind...1 point

Yeah I would . Playing shite football isn't forever as we are witnessing but a trophy win is and if anyone doesn't think we will play shite football again one day is delusional.1 point

So you be happy with a season of eye bleeding shit fest football, in a relegation dogfight, with below average players and coaching staff, to get 3 or 4 good draws against some diddy teams and get lucky in a final. Yes we win a trophy but we are still left with the shit football and relegation fights for the 10 or 20 seasons after that till our next lucky season comes round...aye ok then. Improving the club and team etc year on year is the way forward then we have more chances to win trophies and as a bonus we dont have to watch the shite we have been used to in recent seasons.1 point

Motherwell have reached two finals in recent years and unfortunately faced a Celtic team who were described as the "invincibles" , unlike St.Mirren who faced a very disjointed Celtic. You need a big slice of LUCK to win a cup. Re last week :- It wasn't JAB's choice of team that lost the game but some DIABOLICAL refereeing. Young Matty's second pass was better than the one that Ward made at Parkhead. His distribution thereafter was first class. Gordon - the least said the better. To win the league you need consistency and a LITTLE luck. Could we maybe get a penalty at Ibrox after the split.!!!! COYW1 point

According to Michael Stewart, we are going to run riot in Europe next season...1 point

Some rare footage of a draw against RFC in the 60s, notable for an offside goal by Colin Stein which was allowed to stand π±, a petulant booting of the ball into the terracing by John Greig following Jackie McInally's goal, Tom Forsyth in a 'Well jersey, and some commentary by Bob Crampsey: Bob was unequivical when asked, given his huge (pre-WWII) experience of Scottish football, if he felt that the Old Firm had got the benefit of refereeing decisions over the years: "Yes," he simply said. This contrasts with the mealy-mouthed fudging by modern-day pundits who prefer to refer to honest refereeing mistakes/influence of larger and more vocal OF crowds on referees/ lack of experience on the part of match officials, obviously oblivious of the JRP Gordon/Craig Thomson MBE Effect through the ages. Nostalgic to see the hoop with the wee numbers above it, and (controversial, I pure ken) white shorts π€£π±π€£.1 point

It reminds me of 2014-2015 season. If someone said to me 'would you take a poor season, out cups early but you would beat Rangers 6-1 in play off to ram it up all the media and journalists who wrote us off?' Yes. For this season I am just loving it snd hope we have 11 more great performances and have an unbelievable finish to the season. I genuinely think Jens could stay if he sees this project developing. Also as I have said before the board deserve huge credit for doing their homework and seeing what was out there. No-one had a clue until it was announced ( same as Wimmer) COYW1 point

Hopefully we don't treat every game like a cup tie!!.. π€ͺπ€ͺ1 point

Unbelievable Jeff we win 5-0 and have one if not the best performance of the year and all folk on here are bothered about is a red card given to the opposition which no doubt VAR would have overturned if they saw fit geta grip guys1 point

Looking for. The SFA to do something is a waste of time, they will do feck all in case they upset the ugly sisters. Play acting, diving, cheating, simulation call it what you like has been going on for as long as football has been played, and it wont stop , if a player thinks he can take a dive, or manipulate a situation to win a penalty, get an opponent sent off etc they will do it. Motherwell can be all sanctimonious about it, make a stand by pulling Slattery up for it, go on about the integrity of the game etc, but the rest of the clubs will say nothing and behind the scenes piss themselves laughing. Its the authorities that need to deal with it, VAR could easily have overturned that red card on Saturday but they chose not to, the same way they ignore loads of othe blatantly wrong calls. So if the SFA / SPFL etc do nothing why should the clubs bother. As ie said before many times the governance of the game in Scotland is not fit for purpose, particularly re VAR and referreeing standards and until it is sorted nothing will change.1 point

We have to be consistent to call out this form of cheating, for thats what it is. Slattery's behaviour last night was a particularly bad example, but our club needs to call it out without fear or favour, and whats more, do it in public irrespective of who the player is or who they play for. Should we go a step further, and if its our own player, suspend them for a game or whatever? But, if we simply highlight the actions of our own players they'll feel singled out and picked on. A danger though, is that if we take unilateral action, other clubs, managers and players will laugh up their sleeves at us and continue to practice this particular dark art. As I said, it needs strong consistent action from the SFA.1 point

The thing that annoys me most about the Champions League is teams that win their domestic title but have to enter the competition at qualifying rounds. Meanwhile, other teams that finish 2nd or 3rd enter later in the competition. I know the competition has been dead an buried as a proper Cup since the big teams ganged up and decided getting knocked out in a early round wasn't fair to them (or their bank balance), but they could at least have all the Champions qualify automatically and enter at the same stage. I used to really enjoy the European Cup when it was 2-leg straight knock out. as it felt like a genuine competition. Now it's just yet another league that's manufactured to ensure the big teams win and are further enriched. I barely watch any of the games these days.1 point
