  1. Leaving aside the RL stuff that has happened to you or what has went on elsewhere, i think you are over-thinking this place. You are clearly on one side of the spectrum - SK is trying hard/SOD is a lovely guy/Slattery is a great player etc etc. That is your opinion and that is completley fine. You have every right to it & folks have a right to disagree. Where you are wrong however is that the boo boys are the only opinion tolerated. Have a look at the responses Steelboy, Yodo & MJC get and you will see there are plenty giving them it tight. Its a fans football forum and we dont all see things the same way. It shouldnt be an echo chamber for boo boys or happy clappers. When people post on a discussion forum they should expect to be challdnged. The one thing i would say is that if people are sending you PMs that are trying to chase you off or threaten or upset you in any way, report it to the mods. That behaviour shouldnt be tollerated.

  2. It won't be, however between when Flow left and I took over I disabled the monitoring of DMs immediately. If someone is sending DMs that are inappropriate in any way, let us know and we'll deal with it.

  4. You've got to be one of the most football ignorant people ever to post on a forum. Callan Elliot is a young player with no experience of Scottish football who we can look at and possibly develop as a long term prospect (You know, like that shite striker we signed from St Johnstone who Kettlewell should have got sacked for signing). Throwing him in during a part of the leage season where we're aiming to stay in the league would be suicide. Like SOD or not (and you clearly don't), he's the best and most experienced right back at the club. Admitedly not the most dynamic or fastest going forward, but the best we've currently got. I've never put someone on ignore on a forum before but you are such a dumbfuck, you might just be the first.

  5. Only our deluded lords and masters could paint the recent VAR appraisal as positive. "Adding value and accuracy". Farcical. They are treating the fans like fools. I, too, welcomed it but now just wish it gone. Adding to that the response to the challenge by the rebel six, and it is so obvious the Authorities are circling the wagons. In any other industry they would have been binned long ago for incompetence. But nothing changes

  6. Agreed. They're now looking actively at way's to "disallow" goals. Crazy.

  7. Frustration of last night aside, ignoring our excellence at shitting the bed, accepting the fact we are defensively inept, our keeper is having a breakdown and the manager is clearly being blackmailed by some of the starting 11... We *are* capable of playing some decent football. Onwards to Hearts. Please buy me pints.

  8. Pretty much agree with that. We need a full range of opinions on these forums, from happy clappers to perpetual pessimists. The important thing is to respect others' views and not get personal. We all want the team to do well but we express that support or frustration, at times, in different ways. If posters are driven out then thats a real cause for concern. If posters leave because the forum is too negative thats their choice. I've begun to read, but not post on, P & B again. Its an perhaps extreme version of this site; its different. The best is better and the worst is worse. There's room for both sites and I hope they both thrive. For folk who think this site is OTT or overly negative you do get some extremely negative posts on P & B that put some posters on here in the shade. I've no problem with Steelboy, Yodo & MJC being challenged for their views but sometimes it gets personal and a bit OTT. There's nothing wrong with posting the odd provocative message to stimulate discussion, providing its not offensive or personal. Live and let live / each to their own.

  9. Will be our 5th game in a fortnight so SK needs to freshen it up, the one huge mistake he made for Morton game when he didn't. Get Butcher out that defence and bring in Blaney for more balance as he is left sided and move McGinn to Right side . Bring young Lennon back . Kelly McGinn. Mugabi. Blaney Devine or SOD. Gent Davor Spittal. Miller Bair. Vale

  16. Not a chance we're winning this one. And yes, I do know that we won there earlier in the season but Hearts are a different animal now. They didn't even know who their manager was back then but now they've hit form and Shankland is back to his clinical best. He will run riot against our defence. As the poster who has correctly predicted the outcome of our last five games on here (draws with St.Johnstone, Killie and Aberdeen, a win over County and a defeat in Greenock) I am confidently saying that Hearts will beat us on Saturday. "Here I go, six in a row"

  18. Very similar player to Furlong. Like them both. Be nice to keep him. Doubt we could afford it even if Blackburn did want to let him leave. No harm asking though.

  21. Quite agree that people have the right to voice their concerns but no way has it been constructive from some people. Wait till you get messages telling you that you aren't welcome on here - and for the record. I've spoken to a couple of people in private that I've not agreed with - but I've never tried to chase anyone off of here. And when I got that message I was sitting in bed with a broken nose and two black eyes.. like we all have stuff going on away from here. I honestly can't be bothered trying to explain. Their opinion is as valid as mine. I just can't be arsed with the negativity.

  23. Is it normal to play Wednesday then Saturday? should that Hearts game not be on Sunday? Anyway we are above the Dons and they spent a fucking fortune, it’s not all bad! Also is that us not unbeaten in the league for 7 games?

  24. Thank goodness we are 7th. This forum would be in meltdown if we were bottom or 2nd bottom. Everyone falling out with each other....not a good sign.

  26. Ypu, that can't be denied. I just don't see him as a viable right back option right now, in a relegation fight. If SOD had given them the run of that flank multiple times while jogging back from the half way line as the ball passed him by, he'd be getting pelters on here.

  27. Agree here a point is gd . Regards SOD if he was playing 1st and 3rd for them don't happen imo . Devine was weak at both.

  29. When you look at our finances, our wage bill, and the size of our crowds, we're pretty much sitting where we should be in the league as it stands. Every season, there's a club or two that punch above their weight for any number of reasons. It could be a good run of squad fitness, a few good signings, or a manager and squad that gel well together. In seasons past, we've been among those clubs, finishing in the top six. We've also watched Livingston do it as well. This season, it's Kilmarnock, St Mirren and Dundee to an extent. In general, the top six clubs in the top flight of Scottish football in any given season should be (in no particular order) Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs, and Dundee United. While we've been performing above what we should be, we've seen Dundee United, Aberdeen, and Hibs regularly underperform. Anywhere from 7th to 12th is really where we could expect to finish in any given season, but we always hope to do better. more importantly, we plan financially to finish 10th and have no cup runs, so anything above and beyond that is a bonus. No, there is something to suggest we'll perform just as well or better than those around us. Form over the past 25 or so games. You can't just dismiss that. As things stand, 25 games into the season, we've won more games than Livingston and Ross County and the same number of games as St Johnstone. Only Rangers, Celtic, Hearts, and Kilmarnock have lost fewer games than we have. We've also scored the most goals out of all the bottom six sides, with only the Old Firm, Hearts and Dundee scoring more. Only St Johnstone has conceded fewer goals than us in the bottom six. So, as things stand, we've won more games than two of our immediate relegation rivals and the same number of games as another, but we have two games in hand on one rival and one in hand on another. We've lost the fewest games in the bottom six, scored the most goals in the bottom six, and only one team in the bottom six has conceded fewer. So yeah, there's a fair bit to suggest that Kettlewell and our squad will perform better or just as well as those around us.

  30. The issue I have is that the manager is the one candidate who takes the brunt of failings elsewhere in the club. I was unsure about Kettlewell when he came in, but having had the second half of last season and all of this season to see what he's all about, I think I'd have to say that he's one of the best football coaches in the division. He came in last season and helped Van Veen become a goal machine. Van Veen had 13 goals in 29 games before Kettlewell came in. He got 16 goals in 15 games post-Kettlewell. This is a guy who managed 24 goals in 139 games in League One in England. That works out roughly at a goal every ten games or so. I give the player himself a lot of credit for that, but when you see an uptick in form like that when a new coach comes in with new ideas and a new coaching style, it's usually connected as well. Theo Bair, I don't need to get into. I'm still absolutely astounded at the turnaround in that guy. Before he came here, everything about him suggested he was not a professional-level footballer. His stats, and not just his goalscoring numbers, at other clubs, were laughable in many cases. His xG and so on was abysmal. Throw in the fact that his failure was taking place at levels like the bottom of MLS at a Canadian side who were terrible during that time and the Norwegian second division. At St Johnstone, he looked like a tall, rangy basketball player who was trying to become a footballer. What he's doing now is down to three things - Athletic ability, work ethic, and a very high level of coaching. Blair Spittal has quietly become something of a revelation this season. Again, it's not just down to the coaching, but that's a huge part of it. Paul McGinn has looked better this season than last, and even the likes of Stephen O'Donnell and Harry Paton look like improved players, to some degree, this season. The only blot in the copybook is Liam Kelly, and I'm not sure what can really be done when a keeper hits a bad run of form and makes individual mistakes. That's not all coincidence. It's the kind of team spirit that the manager has created at the club and some really good coaching. Which is why I think we'd be mental to let him go. Yes, there's issues at the club. But for me, the manager and level of coaching are the only thing that's saved us from tail spinning entirely. Sort out the recruitment team and get things in order at the very top, and I think we'd be in good shape.

  31. Why should we not have a women's team? We're a community club and it's good for all of the young ladies in the area to have both male and female footballers to look up to. Women's football is growing rapidly in other countries with teams moving to 'men's' stadia and playing before huge crowds. Our club absolutely should be supporting this initiative and hopefully they'll be able to play regularly at Fir Park in the future.

  33. Oh, no doubt about that. I think Livvy are gone. Just dont see any way back for them. Play off place should be between ourselves, Ross County and St Johnstone. However, despite our awful run, our form since Xmas has managed to drag Hibs, Aberdeen and Dundee into the equation. Given how much more money all of them have spent, Id be pretty concerned if I was them. The fact that all these teams need to play each other and will cut each others throats is a plus for me. We just need to try and make sure we are the last man standing. Big few weeks coming up.

  35. This could finish 6-5 to Aberdeen and the trumpets in our support who still to this day look back with fondness at our last 5-6 loss to them in 1999 would be chuffed to bits. HT 2-3
