  1. I could understand the reluctance over Kettlewell if we were 6 games into the season when there is plenty of time for a new manager to turn things around but we have 12 games left to save our season and we are on a bit of a roll. Keep it going for another 4/5 games and we could be relatively safe. Best result would be if Kettlewell took the job till the end of the season or at least until we were safe then all parties sit down and re-evaluate. Worst case scenario is Kettlewell says he wants a 2 year deal or nothing, the board agree and we don't win another game this season and end up relegated and looking at another manager search and potential pay off. I don't for a minute envisage the worst case scenario happening though. We then limp through to the end of the season escape relegation by the skin of our teeth and the discussion starts over whether we stick with Kettlewell or start afresh or we finish strongly and Kettlewell looks the real deal and we all live happily ever after for another season.
  2. Not being pedantic here but Clarkson is the Academy Director and Kettlewell is Head of Youth Development so Clarkson is technically Kettlewells boss at the moment so why would he want a demotion.
  3. Have you actually listened to the interview? Easily found on Youtube. All they talk about is his family and the pressures of having 3 daughters who are profoundly deaf and a wife who survived cancer and the amount of house moves he's made to follow his career. Absolutely no mention of politics at all so no clue as to his opinions on anything or his political allegiances. I suspect the original post was nothing to do with Holloway and more about a dig at the person doing the interviewing. Anyway way off tangent as it looks like Kettlewell has the gig and why politics should never mix with football.
  4. He's also greatly admired rightly or wrongly by a proportion of the population. If we ever come to the point when we disregard someone because of who they talk to or their perceived political allegiances then we're well and truly f****d. Don't want him but not because of that.
  5. Holloway would be ok if we were looking for someone to host sportsmans dinners if Tam Cowan was busy. He could entertain us with his funny stories from the dressing room and how he once had a square go with (insert famous English International). As a Manager No thanks.
  6. What's the worst that can happen.Give him the gig till the end of the season. We get enough new manager bounce to get us out of the shit then things go tits up by which time we're safe and we look for a new manager at the end of the season. Alternatively he proves that he's not just a flash in the pan and results and performances continue to go the way they are till the end if the season and we give him a 2 year deal.
  7. McMahon summoning Kettelewell down the tunnel ?!!
  8. The Fissil for about 8 years on and off but I now spread myself around the Albert Gow Wishae Bellshill Carluke when I dont go to away games.
  9. I used to be involved with a local Junior (now WOSL) team and the old president who had been there for decades and must have seen 20 odd managers come and go once told me that as soon as he appointed a manager the first thing he did was start looking for another one.
  10. I don't really see many posts "touting" Kettlewell". What I do see are posts saying that he has identified where our problems lie and he comes across very well in interviews and puts his points over honestly in language that ordinary punters understand without the usual trotted out clichés. That in itself is a welcome change from what we've had in the last few years.
  11. Is that the one? Jack Ross Ian Holloway Grant McCann
  12. Exactly. What pissed me off listening to BBC on the way home was the pundits harping on about how poor St Mirren had been, hardly a mention of us. They were as good as we let them be. Came for a battle and got one a bit harder than they probably expected
  13. That would be a good shout for me as well if that's the kind of profile we're looking for. He made some subtle changes on Saturday that we couldn't respond to so he can obviously read a game and change things when needed.
  14. Won't be looking for a job in this country till the new tax year starts in April. Because he's been a tax exile if he works in this country before then he would be liable for quite a hefty tax bill.
  15. The essence of being a good manager is being able to change things on the park when things aren't going your way in a game and I don't think Stevie had that attribute. How may times this season have we seen the opposition team make changes that have swung the game their way and we haven't reciprocated. To me the players have downed tools and you can only hope whoever is appointed can re-instill a bit of pride and passion and get us organised into a shape which the players are comfortable with and we stop leaking stupid avoidable goals.
  16. I suppose If you've been unemployed for 2 years you can't really be choosy about where you get a job. Right man? Don't know.
  17. Wonder if he's even met Flow or had a conversation with him. You don't hold down a job like that for as long by being a dimwit.
  18. Anyone think we might see a wee change of formation going forward with the new players available?
  19. As fans if we're worried about the future of the club then without a rich benefactor or a conveyor belt of talent we can sell on then it's surely up to us to do something about it. Times are hard but if we could increase the amount of monthly payments into the Well Society for example that would help or some kind of non preferential share issue. In saying that the club could also do more in the fundraising dept.
  20. tbf that could apply to most teams in the League not backed by a large suppport and/or a private benefactor.
