  1. We as a club need to balance the books if we don't, bye bye Motherwell. We made a very small profit last year, £20,000.

So far we have made very little money from transfers this year compared to other years. £100,000 for Reynolds and that is it.

The club have given improved deals to players and promoted some from the under 19's to the full squad. We are a small club in terms of UK football. Unfortunately if we want more on the park we need more well fans to turn up at Fir Park.

I don't want Motherwell spending money they don't have.

I believe the people in charge. If they say we have spent all we can spend, then that is the case.

If you look at our squad I would take it over many in the SPL.

The chances are we will be playing less games this season so will probably get away with only needing a couple of other signings.

A centrehalf and another striker would be my choices with the hope that, Page, McHugh and Pollock along with another couple can start to push for first team starts.

If Jennings signs and the rest stay then I will be over the moon.

  2. As long as the club doesn't try to make one giant leap for all Well fan kind. This has got to be a long term plan. Lots of little steps to reach our final destination. The Norwich example is a bit optimistic we have all followed the mighty well for long enough to know that. Sometimes you have to go backwards to go forward (simo Valikari) football used to be about the local community and I think this is Leeanns thinking. It would be really nice if this pays off. Do we have enough fans to make it work? I have my doubts but we have to try something new. We don't really have much choice.

  3. Keep your eyes peeled on the Express tomorrow (don't buy it  ) everyone's fave message board reader claiming McCall discusses his "summer of frustration in the transer market" tomorrow.

It's the 6th of June. Our season only finished just over two weeks ago. Some summer of frustration.

And he's probably been on his hols as well :drinks:

  4. ahh old richie foran, was one my favourite players when he was with us, almost certain to score from the penalty spot everytime :D

Think Higdon likes a penaly too. I have just realise something if you look a Higdon's name he is surely destind for Aberdeen Hig "the" Don. Surely not :dash2:

  5. Higdon for me is exatly what our team has lacked for so long a forward that defenders can't actually muscle of the ball. Big Richie Foran always gave as good as he got and Jim Hamilton could handle himself but Higdon just strikes me as an all round good player. He has a bit of everything but most of all he can actually hit a ball. The thought of Hutch and Hig in the box with Hateley whipping the corners in actually fills me with hope for the season ahead. Add to that the height of Saunders.

I still think we lack that creative midfielder who can find a pass in the last third and that is no disrespect to las or Jenno they are fantastic players for us.

We have had 11 players leave and that is two come in Higdon and Devlin. Of that 11, one was a first team regular and I think he has been replaced with an equally good if not better player.

I would love to see Jonathan Page given a crack of the whip this year, looks a decent player that can certainly man mark a player out of a game (zemama).

Looking forward to seeing what other signings are coming to the arc.

  6. I wasn't going to mention this on the message boards as I hate moaning about the club and to be honest this ain't the clubs fault but it took our bus an hour and fifty minutes to get to hampden from fir park on the number 18 bus. So actually got to my seat at hampden at 10 past 3. The club already know about this and it has been anounced it is being looked into.

    Well done Motherwell FC.

  7. a cup final star on the verge of signing a new deal if you beleive scott burns.must be either jenno or craggs surely

Sorry to dissappoint, but we didn't have any cup final stars. Unless I am missing something.

Could also be Gunning. He hit the cross bar so probably the closest to being a star.

  8. A wee trip to Sunderland or Newcastle would be good. Not too far and a fair chance of taking a decent support. But probably going to get another we trip to Stenny. Or probably friendlies against the clubs we have loaned players to.

Not really that bothered as long as we are ready for the 23rd of July. Getting my season ticket tomorrow

  9. Is the timing right for this? Well i suppose in a way it is. As far as our debt is concerned we don't have that much and I think it is owed to John Boyle. Our pitch doesn't need 250 thousand pounds spent on it this year.

We have a stadium which is ours. We seem to have a board with a plan and not just for the next six months as a lot of clubs seem to do.

Season tickets where up 12% last season and hopefully that trend will continue this season with the WELLevate thing.

I truely see us as one of the top seven teams in Scotland. We have a squad of players that should be able to match the likes of Hibs and Aberdeen, Oops sorry they are both shit. I meant Hearts and Dundee Utd.

Finacially the club seem to be running things a little better although that is partly down to selling players, managers getting to the cis cup semi and scottish cup final and of course finishing in the top six.

If we start to slip down the league and can't sell players and don't have cup runs we would really need to cut our cloth and that is when things will get difficult .

The only other thing that I am a wee bit concerned about is does this mean a new stadium is virtually impossible. Fir park does the job but more and more of the space inside is being used for learning centres which I am sure we must make some money from but if we want to branch out further there ain't much space left.

This whole community thing is a good idea although I don't really get any benefit living in Livingston but if it helps local people and brings them closer to the club then it can only be a good thing.

Scottish football needs to start again with some fresh ideas and it looks like our club is trying to come up with something dfferent. I say good on them. Hopefully I will be able to contribute in some way when the time comes.

Long live Motherwell FC. Live the dream!

  10. If we have votes as share holders? the current board must be fairly confident they can do a job for Motherwell because if they don't deliver what the fans want to see then surely they can be voted out. Dangerous game to play?:download:

  11. i think it will be closer to 100 than 1000. i think they will be looking to get a couple of thousand people to buy in which will make it easier for the board to operate than if it was only a few hundred.

100 x 2000 is only 200000. That will be swallowed up by our pitch and stadium in one season. Looks like we are screwed then.

  12. I think it might work if we can all stick together and agree the way forward for OUR club. As far as I can see we already have a fan on the board ( Derek Weir) for a start. Been a season ticket holder for over 30 years so not a bad start.

Problems will start when 50% of our fans want one thing and the other 50% want another which alway happens with football fans.

From the outside it seems like the board and John Boyle have a long term plan for Motherwell which is probably the only option left to take us forward as a going concern. There is no one person willing to pump there millions into our club so let lots of people plough smaller amounts in. Makes sense in an ideal world.

The big question is how much would the average Motherwell fan manage to invest? £100 or £1000? I know if I said to my wfe I was investing £1000 into Motherwell she would question my sanity. Although I think she already does that to be fair.

  13. Not sure if he is done at this level. He makes mistakes like any player. I am not sure how many games he has played this season but it must be over sixty games the guy has played. I think he is our level and does a good job for us.

  14. I suspect all those out of contract will go for varying reasons - Will only be sorry to lose Jennings.

I think we should find a backroom role for Craigan (a replacement for Kenny Black?)

Suggest we pursue Nish from Hibs (better in the air and more mobile than Sutton) ; Bring back McLean from Falkirk (he made a silly decision to leave us & and push the boat out for McDonald from Burnley. The squad will be supplemented by Halsham & Lawless coming back- Ross & McHugh need a sustained spell in the team to see if they have got it - Carswell and Smith seem good prospects so lets give them a go.

Lets only bring in players we can move on - there should be no place for the Jones who are no better than what we have and only hinder the progress of the younger players.

Remember if Administration had not cleared out the older players the likes of McFadden, Clarkson and Pearson would not have come through.

Yes give the youngsters a chance but the year we had to give them a chance we should have been relegated but Falkirk didn't have a stadium that met SPL standard so we stayed up.

We need a balance of experience and youth, which we have at the moment and that was also Tommy Mcleans thinking.

Players like McFadden, Clarkson and the like will come through no matter what because they have talent.

I think bringing players in like Jones doesn't always work in a match but having these guys around the club giving advise and their experiance to the younger players could actually help the Murphys and the Hutchinsons at the club.

We need to get the blend right and I am sure Mr McCall has a fair idea what he is up to. Well lets hope so.

I would love to see us sending the younger players to clubs like Nancy or Odense rather than Dumbarton and Linlithgow Rose. If they would take them in an exchange scheme.

  15. Who knows what will happen? Randolph is an international goal keeper with 2 years left on his contract so if he has to be sold I would be looking for at least £850,000 plus add ons. Humphrey could command between £350,000 and £500,000 depending on how many clubs are actually interested. Selling two players could give us a good start to independance. We need some spare cash in the bank just incase we need a new pitch again. Should be ok for that this year though. Shouldn't have to spend a penny on it this summer.

Clubs like Dundee utd, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock are in a fare amount of debt so we should be looking at over taking them in terms of attracting players.

I honestly think that there will be a few younger players that will be let go this summer so they can progress their careers away from Fir Park.

I think the break from europe might do us some good this year. More time for the board and manager to build for next season.

I would be tempted to keep maurice ross for another year but the likes of casagodlike and the fox in the box I wouldn't bother with.

We need to balance the books and have a successful team on the park at the same time. Not going to be easy but when has a club like ours ever had it easy.

  16. Should stuart McCall play his cup final team against Killie so the players actually have a bit of game time come cup final day? There have been so many changes of late the players don't seem to be playing that well as a team.

I would rest the entire team come the last game of the season.

  17. I've seen this said a few times, yet have never actually seen any season ticket holders going mental when the prices are reduced at the gate.

Are you having a laugh. That's all you hear when the club reduce prices. Not that they actually do it that often. I think the last time was the 6-6 with hibs last season.
