  1. Christ they are still playing that go west tune from the pet shop boys. The Tannoy is a joke one week you can't hear what the guy is saying and this week you can't even hear yourself think. Does anyone even bother to check these things. It is like banging your head against a brick wall when it comes to all things Motherwell.

  2. Been thinking about the design guys. what about something simple like the claret band/ hoop on our strip. Amber top and bottom with claret in the middle. I reckon that would look the bollocks and easy to set out.

  3. I am predicting a 2-1 victory for the mighty Well! Our name is on the cup this year.

Our players will give it everything our suporters will give it everything and we will come back with our heads held high and a trophy for our cabinet.

It is going to be a long month waiting for the 21st of May.

  4. To me, that is a completely bizarre layout. Why not have one set of fans along the North lower tier, one set along the South lower tier.

Who gives a fuck what it's gonna look like on the telly, whatever way you sit everyone 15000 fans in a 50000 seater stadium will always look empty.

They could sell every fourth seat. That way we could stretch out and use the whole stadium;0)

  5. If we had a two tier national stadium they would just close the top tier, so just treat it like that. Close off the top section.

I think we both team will be doing well to get 13/14 thousand at hampden.

The only reason I can think of why they are doing it this way is so they don't have to open so many food outlets or toilets

  6. Unfortunately there is not enough fans from either team to make the crowd look anywhere near decent. It's not the fault of Motherwell or St Johnstone, it's just a fact. How you resolve this I'm not too sure. Attempting to fill the bottom tiers first seems like the most sensible idea, if nothing else it will look better on the television.

My point exactly. Makes the most sense, so the Hampden people do the opposite.

I really hope we can take a good support through.

  7. What they should have done is fill the seats in the lower half of the stadium. Simples. That way you are filling more round the pitch and nearer the pitch. The tv cameras could be positioned so they don't go above a certain veiwing point. It ain't exactly rocket science is it?

Another semi at easter road would be ok the last time we played in a semi there we won!

  8. I'd echo that, don't think we give him enough credit for the niggling little challenges he puts in or doing just enough to put an opposition player off/out his stride.

Would have went to Murph but for that first touch when he was clean through. However other than that it was like the guy we had in the first 2 months of the season, glad to have you back Jamie.

Yip good to have the Murph back and that volley with his left was outstanding. Good to see every player giving it their all. Went for Gunning, never put a foot wrong all night. It was a very tough call though.

  9. Bit of help lads,

I cant seem to find my season ticket anywhere.

Last time i had it was for the Celtic game.

Im guessing there is nothing the club can do to help in terms of sending me a replacement one?

Or am i going to have to buy a new one?

The club will have your details so should be ok for them to issue you with a new one. Only down side is it will probably cost you about £10.

    Give them a call 01698 333333

  10. The world of football has changed but most of all the world we live and work in or not work in has changed. A lot of people work shifts or work weekends so getting to the football becomes difficult a season ticket is fine for those who work Monday to Friday. Those who don't will find that whether a season ticket was £125 it probably wouldn't be worth it to them. I have said this before but I always loved the idea of clubs saying ok if we sell 15% more tickets we will reduce all prices by 10% if we don't all prices go up 5%. Actually challenge the fans to set prices.

  11. Like what? What do you expect them to acheive? Will they get the bogs fixed in the East Stand? Will they get the paint scraped off the steps in the East Stand? Will they get the price of pies reduced? Will they get the water in the bovril turned down to slightly cooler than scalding?

I mean as far as I am aware virtually every problem in and around Fir Park has been passed to the club through the offices of the Trust. I'm sure someone can correct me on that, but I'm also aware that some of these problems still exist. The clubs answer appears to be the setting up of another committee.

The SAC will acheive what the club allows it to acheive, nothing more and nothing less. Your pals will get their picture in the website, the programme, and possibly the Wishaw Press, if there's a prize to be picked up or a contract to be awarded. This is a PR excercise nothing else.

As I said earlier it must be galling for the guys in the Trust.

Why must it be galling for the guys on the trust? Everyone that was interested to meet with Leeann to form this group was asked to put their names forward. If they didn't do that then it ain't anyones fault but their own. I can't comment too much because I don't know enough about what the trusts aims are. I thought it was to get a seat on the board?

Everyone has an opinion, who knows what is right what is wrong. You never know this might just be what the trust needs to re-invigorate itself. The trust have known about this group right from the start!

It could well be a PR exercise. If it is positive PR I say carry on. If it means lottery funding I say go for it. If they can't acheive anything I say scrap it but let us all be good enough to let them give it a go.

  12. I've never been a member of the Trust and very likely never will, and my main bug bear was their stated intention to seek a seat on the board.

I believe the Trust should be working closely alongside the club but it should maintain it's independence. Once on the board it is no longer a Supporters Trust it merely becomes just another part of the club.

The SAC is by the club and for the club, the fact that it has the word Supporter in it's title should fool no-one. It is inside the tent pissing out, for want of a better phrase.

I never thought I'd say this, but I think the average Motherwell fan will be better served by the Trust rather than the SAC.

Frankly, I wouldn't give the SAC the time of day.

I am sorry that is how you feel. The two guy's I know that are involved have given a lot of their spare time to the Motherwell cause and this group. I am willing to wait and see wait they can bring.

I hope they can acheive something positive because all I hear about Motherwell at the moment is all negative bull manure. Mon the Well!

  13. I dont have a problem with the guys and girls on the committee, it's the committee itself. Where's the need for it? We already have a Trust that has a forum with the club and through which any ideas, thoughts, complaints, or suggestions can be channelled.

Call me an old cynic if you like but the problem with the Trust may have been it's independence. Whether that's true or not I don't know but the fact that the club has seen fit to set up it's own group says a lot. It certainly seems to weaken the Trust ever so slightly. I mean a boot in the bawsack weakens the best of us does it not.

In my opinion anyone who volunteers for a committee should be barred from ever sitting on one.

I used to be a member of the trust because I was so worried about our club and what John Boyle had done. A lot of us thought it was fantastic that he was going to make us the third force in scottish football. When it went bellie up the trust was set up so one day someone with the best interests of the club and supporters could be on the board. Things have changed since those administration days and I started to trust John Boyle again. So I no longer feel there is a need to have the trust push for having a member on the board so I am no longer a member. The way the club is being run at the moment is far better than it used to be, not perfect but better. If this group manage to acheive even a small improvement to the service and communication from the club then let them have a go. If they acheive nothing I will be the first one asking them to give it up but on the same token if the people at the club are running things well enough why should there be any need for the trust wanting involvement in the board room. The trust has done some great work with their fund raising, this group may be able to add to that.

  14. Absolute bollocks. It's a sideways step, It will accomplish the square root of sod all.

You are probably right with those words of wisdom, but lets give them a chance. If it turns out to be a waste of time scrap the whole idea. Got to admit though I do know a couple of the guys who volenteered for this and they are diehard Motherwell season ticket holders and really decent guys but then I would say that because I know them. Let them know your thoughts/ideas the e-mail address is on the statement.

  15. I wish more people would see this. 95% of the discussion and media focus has been on this and it is probably the least important part of the proposal. Its getting the distribution of wealth, length of season, timing of season, winter break, youth development, gate prices, insuring the financial penalty for relegation isn't armageddon right that will make or break Scottish football. Get that right then in time the league will develop into a better spectacle whether its ten, twelve or fourteen. But whatever we decide it needs to be left alone. CHanging the number of teams in the league every five to ten years doesn't help anyone for long term planning and in these days of financial meltdown teams need to do this.

I have to agree. Keep the number of teams the same. Under 21 league that teams can play three over aged players in each game. More teams relegated and promoted. The split is ok. Under 12s into games for nothing when with a parent or guardian. 13 to 17 year olds £5 pounds each.

  16. It costs Celtic in the region of £500k plus a season to run those big sunbed things for their pitches! More depending on weather!

I am sure it costs us the same every season because we need to dig the feckin thing up every season.

  17. There are two main things wrong with our league Rangers and Celtic winning it all the time and only one team being relegated. Give Dunfermline, Falkirk, Dundee, Morton and other more of a chance to get back into the top league. If you get relegated you have a 10% chance of getting promoted. Promote 3 teams and all of a sudden you start the season with a 30% chance of promotion. You will have six or seven teams fighting for promotion for most of the season instead of two or three. Like wise if you had three teams being relegated I am damn sure teams from 7th down would be trying a lot harder to get points off of the old firm. Before changing to a ten team league I would give this a go first.

  18. Fair dooz, I appreciate the sentiment but remember, if Motherwell FC vote for this then they lose all credibility- you can't just blame the SPL/SFA if MFC are party to making this proposal reality.

Yes I know that. And it does not sit well with me. But I have to stick by my team.

    Just the way I am.

The SPL ( that includeds all members ) have got a serious problem on their hands because there are not enough fans that won't walk away for this to work.

They are pushing fans away. No fans, No football. I have said it before but the Old Firm want Scottish Football to die so they can go to the English and say can we come and play in your play ground. Celtic are trying their best to get out now by saying they are getting cheated every week. They will go crying to UEFA soon. Just wait and see.

  19. The argument over 10/12/14/16/18 teams should not be the focus here. We don't want a 10 team league because watching Motherwell v St Mirren 4 times (possibly 6) is a less than appealing prospect. It would be much more appealing however if Motherwell v St Mirren was actually a decent game of football with a healthy crowd and something to play for.

The argument for a 16 team league is that we would only need to watch the shite that is Motherwell v St Mirren twice. Then we could watch the shite that is Motherwell v (Accies, Dundee, Dunfermline, Falkirk etc). There would be variety in the shite that we watch. For me this is not a good argument for a 16 team league.

Make Motherwell v St Mirren appealing first then the rest falls into place. For me there are three things that could do that

1st (and by a million miles the most important) Create a league that is competitive. The only wy of doing that is to spread the money that is coming into the game much more evenly so that the Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen's and maybe on the odd occasion Motherwell's of the league can challenge the OF again.

2nd Reduce gate prices. An even distribution of wealth will help bring that about.

    3rd A winter break.

The sooner we start looking at the SPL as being a marketable product rather than the OF being the marketable product the sooner we get out of this mess. We are being blinded by thi 10 team debate. The problem lies elsewhere.

4th look at our pitches. They are a disgrace. Just watched the English highlights then watched the Scottish highlights. They are playing on bowling greens so they can actual stay on their feet and pass a ball. Our players fall on their arses every two seconds and couldn't pass water never mind a football.
