Ok ill admit defeat on this!!! Even though I dont agree with a lot of it haha.
-
dundee utd seem to pick up some gems from the lower leagues and usually young with a sell on value.I cant remember the last time we did this.
-
can someone please show where someone says it will cost millions.I have now saw there was a debate on it 2010 and 2013 and no mention of millions because of the slope.
-
You are obviously an engineer with experience of astroturf laying pepper. Stop making things up and have a normal debate. Go onto the hearts fan site and see the views of guys who work in astro laying industry and also their support.

massive benefit out-side hiring the pitches out to the public is the fact that all the youth/academy teams can train on the surface during the week and play their youth league fixtures on it too. Which is a massive cost saving for the clubs in the SFL, most of which don't have a training academy. I dont know but i would imagine it cost for our partnership with braidhurst.Partick Thistle for example are paying out a large chunk in hiring pitches for all the youth-sides, where as Stenhousemuir or Alloa aren't. question to ask ourselves.1, would it give our players at all levels an advantage however slight over other teams we played on it.2 would it be financially viable and beneficial for our club. And the answerto both questions is yes.
-
The negativity on here from some who have there main reason as"just coz" is laughable and I for one only hope our club leaders do not have the same attitude.some of you are stuck in the dark ages and also footballs traditions are in danger of slowly killing the game as we know it.as saw by an article in daily record a few wks ago showing that ice hockey at braehead 3k att and basketball at emirates 1800 att people are getting involved in other sports at the expense of football.
-
Some interesting points but I have still not heard a valid reason why not. Also if we forget about the advantage football wise I think it would give us. How as a going business concern can we only utilise our main asset (the stadium/pitch) on only 20 times a year it is madness. Our club from youths to 1st team should be at fir park for all training and games as we do not have finances tohire other pitches.
-
Del I am100% with you I would prefer grass all the time also but we dont have finances to give us a consistent surface for training and games. Other teams are gaining an advantage and will continue to do so. fizoxy you are right in that some older players would not come of that there is no doubt but most young players now are brought up on these parks and so are more used to them.
-
Totally agree steelboy sutoon needs to play within the area of 18 yard box where he can score he does not have speed to go in behind whereas big erwin can yes he is raw and inexperienced but I honestly see something in this boy I just feel he needs a chance.
-
Thank you fizoxy so thats one myth blown out the water although yes it is only one mans opinion.i think his statement that elite coaches and players do not like it makes total sense. Our players are not elite whether they like it or not and I seriously hope none of them feel they are.
-
Exactly our training parks will be I would imagine be very bumpy maybe someone with knowledge can help me on that but I have seen them from afar and they are in no wayas good as fp either in august or january anastro would be same allyear.
-
Del as much as it pains me to say it we are not top level football we have average gates of 4 to 5k and that has been same since I started going nearly 30 yrs ago. You contradict yourself when you say great for technique and skill. Is that not what football is? Also as far as injurys that has been proven is a myth do you seriously think big clubs who have them in france russia usa etc who are very rich would risk their players on them. The injury thing is brought up by teams managers and players who are looking for an excuse before playing on them.
-
What teams are you meaning? Are you telling me that a team with all respect to them Alloa would beat certain teams in the championship who have international players if it was not for their pitch.
-
Slope would not be a problem as im quite sure the people that install them have come across various states of ground. Also every team from 1st to youths could be playing on it with maybe one game on before and one after the 1st team game on a saturday.im sure some would come in earlier or stay later to watch the youths thus enhancing the matchday experience for fans and also meaning the young well boys who would be playing for instance against say celtic would get some support. As I say wins everywher.

I have thought this for a while.why as a small community club do we not have one.the only reason I hear is football should be played on grass. Well I agree if you are a top club in the premiership with millions of pounds to enable the upkeep but we are not! It would give us an advantage over other teams and also make our players better footballers as training on the same flat and consistent surface day in day out would imo greatly improve them. It is no coincidence that accies are getting plaudits from all and sundry for their brand of football when they have young fast technically sound footballers who have honed their skills day in day out for years on same surface. Lets do it now!
-
not at the game as down in England but iv said for a few years we need an astro pitch this would hive us an advantage over all teams in league who Don have one and also able to compete with who does.accies are not miles better than us but they train on that park every day and it is a huge advantage.I take a boys team and the difference at that level is huge for boys on it all time.im sick of all these tradionalists we need to try for every advantage we can get and as I say astro pitch is the start. it would also as im sure all are aware be available to the community.

I feel if we can drag away from the bottom 2 then the rest of the season will be played without any pressure and so the young players will get a lot of game time.the reason our young players have not been coming through recently in my opinion is down to the fact for the last 7 years we have been challenging for Europe.cups.2nd place etc and so the management at the time did not feel they could risk them for a run of games. you only have to look at hearts this season and how theyve been doing which if you remember up until about the last 8 games of last season they were bearly getting beat every week.thus season they are flying with a couple of goid solid experienced guys behind them.also the last time we really brought through a lot of youth all at once was post admin when butcher had no other option.

Well I like most others who had never heard of this guy was underwhelmed on reading his appointment. But I always think in people 1st impressions count for a lot and I for one feel after watching his interview that this guy is so full of energy and belief that we will be back on our way up the table.coyw.

Well that has given me a bit of optimism.Big Erwin pace, determination and height. ok he missed a sitter and his decision making was not best but he got himself into those positions.young Ferguson at right back also had one great run and some other good passes. ainsworth? I have no idea why he doesnt start. next week a front 4 of ainsworth on right sutton and erwin in middle and ojammaa on left pace everywhere and sutton able to do what he can do which is stay in and about box. the only way is up!!!!
-
I as a lot of others used to never miss a 3rd round scottish cup game home or away when it was the Saturday after new year and we always had big crowds.now I can't get motivated for one reason or another. Can't see any benefits to scottish football having it at this time of year.along with no sponsor this tells you all you need to know about the marketing of scottish football. Sorry for moaning!

Well said melvin as ever some so called football fans know not a lot about the game. I hope i am wrong but I am sure in years to come all the smc haters will realise his time at the club was nothing short of miraculous. I do agree however that a change at this time will beneit us but lets all as motherwell fans appreciate what smc gave us. Thank you stuart mcall!!!!! Ps who would like paulo di canio? I think would be good if all forget his celtic past he has a point to prove.

We have imo taken our european games for granted over thelast few years.the team and management seems to treat them like pre season friendlies and the pricing is ridiculous we will never get any new fans with pricing like they have been for last few years.look back to nancy, odense attendances etc when pricing was if I remember $10ish.now I know club wont make money out of that pricing but we need to look at bigger picture and if we made group stages (dont all laugh) then the rewards would be huge from tv deals etc which we could then still only charge low amounts get the ground full for 3 big home games if sufficient atmosphere the some people might even come back.one off freebies do not get people back it needs to be done on an ongoing basis.in our area there are loads of young boys supporting rangers/celtic who dont go to any of their games,4 or 5 games in a row with some of their well supporting mates might get them to come all the time and this is where I feel we should target, every high school within 20 miles radius get the players going out and give out free tickets.teenagers will come back if they enjoy it.our marketing, propaganda, salesskills are terribly poor.
