You would probably be guaranteed a good turn out for any Fan parades like that, music, flag waving and lots of old fashioned singing and jovial banter just what the Scottish game needs
-
There is a good local band from Craigneuk thats good at that stuff, now that there busy time is over they have midweek's free, it's only a short walk down to Fir park.
-
What people seem to be forgetting is that standing is not allowed under current legislation as a result of the Taylor report recomendations after Hillsborough. It is a condition of membership of the SPL that you have an all seater stadium, currently 6,000 minimum, but not sure on that. So irrespective of whether the majority of fans at a club want it it wont happen unless the SPL change their rules, and we all know how difficult that is or we get relegated which is again unlikely. The SPL wont change their rules as they are bound by current government legislation re all seated stadiums. So unless there is a major political U-turn and the SFA, SPL etc agree it wont happen.

Lets be honest with ourselves for a minute, Motherwell are a selling club, they always have been and the first decent 7 figure offer that comes in for Murphy will be accepted and he will be off. But just for a change i would like the board to think about the teams prospects and keep players like Murphy for as long as they can,he is a young player and will move eventually. Ii would rather he stayed, banged in the goals, helped Motherwell to maybe 3rd place in the league, european qualification, possible cups runs etc this season and hopefully next than have some director tell me that the club is ok and we have a couple of million in the bank. He is worth probably 2 million so what could we do with that, buy 1 or 2 new players, improve the stadium, pay off the clubs debts ? All this will happen anyway so lets for once try to keep our best talent and let SMC get them playing some good football, the signs so far this season have been encouraging.
-
+1 with that, its great
-
He is being lined up for a post playing career in TV punditry, the BBC like him. I agree this season will be his last as a player at Fir park.
-
If Broadfoot wants regular 1st team football then why not sign for us on a 1/2 or full season loan. Only problem would be what percentage of his wages would we be able to afford ? But as SMC is good pals with McCoist, Rangers might not be too difficult to deal with.
-
Good points but as football is so dependant on the TV cash, the broadcasters will continue to dictate the kick off times to suit their schedules. There may be some scope to look at addmission costs but in reallity would reducing the cost bring in enough extra fans on a regular basis to outweigh the cost of the reduction ? The stewarding issue is one where input from fans / shareholders / members etc could make a real difference, we all want to be safe at matches but some common sense and tolerance is required, which seems to be sadly lacking in the current bunch of stewards.

After the state of the seats in the POD last saturday i hope the first vote is to buy a mop and bucket and get one of the staff trained to use it to clean the place.
-
Anyone still unsure about why we need to move from Fir park, should have sat in the POD on Saturday, and seen for themselves the state of the place. We had a decent turn out of Leeds fans in the POD a couple of hundred mile round trip to sit on seats covered in Pigeon shite, rubbish that looked as though it had been there since the last home game last season, broken seats, catering points that are too small and run out of pies etc. I have just renewed my season ticket, £380 to sit on Crappy manky seats, that have not been cleaned in years ffs !!. I cant judge the East stand (assuming the South and Cooper are ok) but i suspect its just as bad. Fir park is dirty, tired and well past its best its time to go and build a new stadium we can be proud of. The slogan in May was "Time for new Hero's" we should be building a stadium fit for hero's, we should go and go soon.
-
What do you expect the system was state of the art in the 1960's FFS, the quality in the POD is not much better, you can hear feck all apart from crackling and static any time an announcement is made, the whole thing needs replaced,
-
Whit St Mirren 4th and Aberdeen 6th you are mental, St Mirren will struggling to avoid relegation again and as for the Sheep sha**ers they are basically the same pish outfit as last season.

History should be exactly that we need to look forward and not back, this is the 21st century peoples tastes have changed there are loads more opportunities for them to spend their leisure cash and time than there were 30 or 40 years ago. Lets not forget that Motherwell FC is a business these days and it has to be run as such so that means attracting as many people as possible to the ground to generate income. This means the facilities on offer need to be good, catering, saftey, comfort etc. If all this can be achieved by moving to a new purpose built stadium then it needs to happen, forget all the sentimental pish about the history of the ground, sitting in the same spot etc, i am old enough to remember some of the shite holes i used to go to to watch Motherwell, Brockville, Kilbowie, Broomfield and many others. I dont want to go back to that and i am sure many other fans have the same opinion, if we have genuine ambitions of being Scotlands community club, then we need a stadium the community can be proud of, Fir Park is past its best, its time we got started on the Ravenscraig arena.
-
Sounds like a real winner, hospitallity for a pre season friendly, i hope the buffet is sale or return.
-
Why do people get all emotional when there is talk of moving from Fir park ? Its about improving the facilities, not just for the paying public, but for the team as well, better facilities means more revenue oportunities, which means more money for the club, ie one more step on the road to financial security and more funding to develop and possibly but better players. And the last time i checked the Craig site is still in Motherwell, so given the choice of a souless concrete oval with good catering and bars, or an out of date stadium, crap seats, and ocasinally wading through streams of pish then a move to the Craig gets my vote
-
+1 he was poor, the fact that Celtic dumped him and he is now hawking himself round the lower leagues say's it all about his ability. If he goes to Hibs its good for us, 1 more crap player in a crap team thats falling apart at the seams, less to worry us when the season starts.
-
Lets be honest Fir park is not the best, 4 stands all different sizes, seats in the POD that were state of the art in 1950 ffs, dodgy toilets in the East Stand, poor catering facilities, no car parking, a suspect pitch, limited scope to utilise the stadium for other commercial activities. Yes its time to move on Sell FP and move up to the Craig site, build a proper footie stadium , ie enclosed Oval, close to the pitch etc Almondvale at livingston is a good example. The site could be developed to include commercial and leisure outlets, plenty of car parking, there is even going to be a new Rail station up there. Motherwell are advertising themselves as " Scotlands community club" this would be a chance to build an asset the whole community could use and be proud of.
-
+1 from me as well, that fud Casagolda must go down as the worst ever
-
They should be in a thread of their own, " Alleged SPL junkies, rapists and Paedos season 2011-12" . Well maybe not Wallace

I think a lot of people are missing the point with this scheme, the current board are not that naive to think that this will generate enough cash to run the club year after year, i would love to be wrong but it wont happen. Its about getting the Fans and the wider community involved with the club by becoming members, shareholders, friends, call them what you like. For a financial outlay and an ongoing committment year after year you are buying your own small stake in the club, it might not bring any great financial reward to you but you will have a voice and a say in how the club is run, to me as a lifelong well fan thats a great idea. It needs to be kept in the media as much as possible especially locally, so if that means dribs and drabs of information then so be it, this is a great chance for motherwell to show how a club can be run and involve the ordinary fans as well as the big corporate sponsors, we can take the lead in Scotland and be proud of it, so lets get as many people as possible onboard and signed up
-
Agree with this, i support Motherwell end of, and of course Scotland when they play. Like 40 yarder i love to watch all levels of footie on TV but could not give a toss who wins if Motherwell are not involved or affected by the result.
-
Grass is more bother than its worth get rid of it and get some Astro turf down, all it needs then is a quick hoover before the game, one of the office ladies could do that. So no need for a groundsman and the club saves money to spend on players, Simples
-
If the figure quoted of £300 for the basic level of membership is accurate then only 1,000 people taking up the offer is 300 K raised add to that the Business and corporate investors and the 500 K or even more figure is achievable. Even for a small club like ours i dont think its an unrealistic target.
-
+1 The millionaire benefactor approach does not fill me with confidence, they get bored, lose their cash, die etc and the club is left in a precarious situation, what happened to Gretna and nearly to us should serve as a warning. Football needs to be run and financed in a sustainable manner, ie clubs living within their means, so hopefully this scheme will ensure that motherwell are financially sound for the future.

There has to be a few sensible posts in between all the shamless condemnation of the Chief exec by the Lip, just trying to restore some balance to the force.
