I don’t think it’s accurate to say we can’t control the signings and that slower due to World Cup here’s the SPL Aberdeen – 11 Heart of Midlothian – 11 Falkirk – 10 Dundee United – 9 St Johnstone – 8 St Mirren – 6 Kilmarnock – 6 Rangers – 6 Dundee – 5 Hibernian – 5 Motherwell – 4 Celtic – 1 In addition we had more players leave than any other club so a known rebuilding job .
-
From a transfers in perspective - we're still very short in numbers. If Im being honest I"m lost in terms of who's injured , who's leaving but bottom line we're in a significantly weakened position than both the end of last season and same stage last season. I've read a few posts about no need to panic as we have until September - I'd accept perhaps 1 or 2 late arrivals but right here , right now it feels like we're well behind the curve of where we should be.

For me it smacks of put the ‘wee club back in it’s place ‘ not so much for playing good football but for daring to challenge and have an opinion - feedback offered by the club is taken as critique and attack . All very shallow minded . Had things been reversed would an OF player be punished with ban at the time Slattery was , would they face a 4 game ban now ? had Motherwell invaded the pitch before the games had ended and behaved the way Celtic did - would the punishment be minor ? im trying not to sit with a tinfoil hat on but the evidence and outcomes are staggering .

He was brilliant last season wasn’t he . wish him all the very best and continue to hope to see more quality like him come through the door .
-
Personally feel that the SFA have targeted us the wee club on a couple now . first Slattery and now this - like many have said - disgraceful
-
At the moment it's underwhelming. On the downside Top manager leaving + top players left/leaving + small squad + injuries are a tough part of the equation. One the upside Adding Alfred + 3 signings by mid July. Observations Injuries to Jonny, SOD, McGinn, Hendry & McGhee - no suprises there ,majority often pick up injures or getting on. Conclusion None of the above was unknown or surprising. What we've to date secured isn't sufficient. Without a competitive ball being kicked it's very difficult outline how we'll be competitive for top 6. Hoping and willing to be impressed with a surge of quality coming through the door but so far it's underwhelming.

And their strip - love it Quality of play is similar to watching us last season too . pretending I’m watching the mighty well - couple of quality teams .
-
Can’t help but interpret ‘youthful’ meaning likely to stay for next season . was positive to hear Dawes is busy
-
That’s generally my view. Even just replacing Jen’s would have made it difficult to repeat . now the spine of the team are leaving or left and replacements have been thin on the ground . May just be that I can’t cope in the heat but i don’t have high expectations at the moment .
-
completely agree with you. Avoid becoming the wealthiest club in the championship - at start of last season, playing attractive football I would have early doors be happy with 8th in the league. Ive got similar hopes , too many variables and dependencies to expect anything more. Albeit willing /wanting something better. Personally feel we should be further along in securing new players but appreciate that's easier said than done.

To be candid I’m concerned were cash rich and talent poor. To lose the core of manager , keeper , defenders , mid and attack we’re in a tough spot . At the weekend a few people asked why weren’t xyz all playing - simple answer could be they’re all off to pastures new . For the new gaffer this is a tough gig after last seasons high
-
He’ll come back with smashing teeth
-
7-10 initially sounded bonkers to me - until you outlined the players. In terms of those leaving , that looks about right to me and a decent amount of cash. I don't know that McGinn or Hendry ever likely to be back. McGinn too old to rely on as a regular (36 by time he's back) and Hendry looks to be a perm-a-crock. Im sure we'd have released him had he been fit. Replacing Just will be tough given he's a class act - Id love to see us bring Turnbull back but the salary is gap makes that a very long shot,
-
If we lose Watt , Just and TW it could be a challenging period ahead . Very different to the team without McGinn, Welsh , Slattery and then these 3 top players. For a new manager replacing our best manager in donkeys years it’s an uphill challenge . Ideally sort the outgoings and incomings at a decent lick
-
very similar to the '87 strip. Just shows how diluted the amber has become over the years. Some similarities to the 09 top. The home strip often is a bit disappointing. aointing.
-
Stay or Go - either way better to get sorted at pace - that way the we know the scale of recruitment. It's bitter sweet to see so many of our team attract this level of attention. I'd love more of the talk to be around who's arriving than leaving. Tomorrow I fully expect to see some of the new signings showing off the new kit.
-
The next week or so will be quite telling - depends on whether contracts get announced from 1 July onwards. A new manager will have impact - take last year for example. McGhee, Fadinger and Watt were probably agreed well before JBA was on the scene. Versus Just, Longelo, Said RCA had JBA's involvement. Similar calibre walking through the door next week will get me excited.
-
Are we expecting our first signings to be announced on first July ? last season Watt , Fadinger , McGhee all announced on 1st with Just, Longelo and Said a week or so later . If we’re able land anything like that quality I’ll be delighted . Not heard any rumours , but eagerly anticipating some additions .
-
That would be great news. Would really like to hold onto Watt
-
TBH I thought Maswanhise was almost a done deal just - he was already high risk and now World Cup - be stunned watt - less obvious bit of the money is right then hard to refuse Be happy if all 3 stayed but with all the speculation and if at the right price I could see it happening
-
At the core even if the better players do move on there’s plenty to build on. RCC will be an interesting one as I’m not sure what his best position is . Felts he was shoe horned in to various roles but if fit he can add lots of value . We do need some quality signings to start coming through the door - particularly defenders
-
I’m not a fan sevco not the player - but fair play to them for sending a message . Frustratingly they’re in a stronger position to command higher transfer fees than us . I Just hope we get a fair whack and he moves anywhere but Scotland .
-
McGinns situation not surprising nor are the other gaps across the squad - reasonable to expect that we have several players lined up and now that players contracts have expired Im hoping the next couple of weeks we see several quality players come through the door. Hope that we sort out the others who are leaving at pace as well. No point in having them around if they're not staying.
-
The comings and goings of players may prove to be critical here . Slattery gone, Maswanhise most certainly, Just likely. Hopefully what comes in can match or improve us further. I get your broader point though - continuation of style of play etc.
