  1. Id be delighted if there wasn’t a next goal but agree long way to go in this one
  2. poor Al - he's only 27 so quite a few years behind the older pros. For me it depends on what happens with others and whether they come or go. Re Turnbull can't help but think he'd fit like a glove and who knows the call of playing attractive football , getting a game every week could be enough to persuade him. Anyway this is what happens when there's lack of games, too much day dreaming.
  3. re Campbell. In last couple of seasons he's parachuted in mid season. I don't think he had pre season or game time in either of those seasons prior to joining Utd or StMirren. Under those circumstances very difficult to hit the ground running due to lack of game time etc. If we were to lose Watt or Fadigner at end of season I wouldn't be against having him back at FP. With a full pre season behind him I think he'd do a decent job and some of the ugly work we've been missing. Re former Motherwell boys I was thinking similar of DT back at FP. Assuming we sell Just/Slattery moving on having someone of DTs style would fit nicely.
  4. Scottish Football is incredibly frustrating. VAR is awful (being polite). Having likes of pundits being banned for sharing an opinion which is no different to that of the paying public is a joke. @wellfan called it - a circling of wagons is accurate. Add to that the recent treatment we've been singled out for appear to be 'put Motherwell back in their box' Recent decisions have been staggering and can't help but feel there's an element of showing who's boss. Slattery's suspension wouldn't have happened to any of the top 3. The non penalty for TW against falkirk Hearts penalty decision. The general everything a Well player does must be a foul or a dive. How dare Motherwell do something as bold as play great football and start challenging at the top end of the league. I simply hope that's an end of the poor decisions for now and we can get some enjoyment back for the final 5 games.
  5. I thought AP was a very decent penalty box striker. Some of his movement was excellent and in the right team suspect he'd score a barrel load of goals. His first season was hampered by injury and this season he looked devoid of confidence. For all the right reasons moved back to Oz. Shame it never worked out. Not convinced that subsequent signings are any better, perhaps Thor with the right partner would get amongst the goals but we'd have to change our style of play. Be interesting to see what happens at end of the season (and possibly in the closing few games )
  6. Fed up . not getting fair share of 50/50 Not taking our chances shit end to the season
  7. That’s never a pen - what’s happening
  8. We look very nervy at the back . Lost a lot of confidence in recent weeks . id like to see us just keep it simple
  9. Before the game last week the starting 11 was broadly thought as strong as we are for now - that's likely still to be true. Priestman is a very good player but it would be Watt or Fadinger he'd replace - and can understand why he hasn't. For me Said needs to do a lot more than last week. I'd prefer to put him more forward and wide, possibly on the left hand side to support Longello. Fingers crossed we get something from today.
  10. was good listening to both Jens and Fadinger in pre match. Jens hugely engaging as always and love how he manages the Scottish press. Equally encouraging that Fadinger will lose the dick Turpin style mask - like others have mentioned that must impact vision during a match. Win /lose/ draw this weekend I'm hoping to see the team back on top, sharper and slicker. Do sense taking 3 points will be just the tonic we need.
  11. to be honest Grizzly I didn't think you were far off the mark. Best football I've ever seen us play, better than McGhee v1 and just the overall attitude Jens brings - he's been a touch of class and made me feel proud to be a Well fan. Everyone is entitled to their view of what earns the right to 'titles' but simply put I can't remember since McLean a better manager to lead us forward and hope more than expect that Jens remains next season.
  12. Putting my claret and amber goggles to the side for a moment I think we'll be quite attractive to players trying to make their way in the game and who enjoy our brand of football. JT and AP will almost certainly leave and perhaps Just, Watt if the right kind of offer comes in but I can't help but think we're a much more attractive club than in years gone by. From homegrown talent Miller to the several players aforementioned whose stock is higher now than at start of the season Im optimistic we can bring in quality (assuming Jens stays) The prospect of free flowing football + potential Europe and everything else that brings will attract suiters. Starting with Welsh - again optimistic that he'd sign up . Also suspect Slattery will extend his time with us.
  13. Confident we won’t lose this one - we’ll get at least a point . Basing this on how well we’ve faced up to Hearts this season. Hoping we can freshen a few things up and ideally get all 3 points . Edge closer to cementing 4th spot .
  14. Re the potential penalty I do wonder if the recent faux par from VAR (Slattery) has some impact in terms of not overruling the ref. I thought the ref gave us zero benefit of doubt yesterday and VAR backed him up. A couple of challenges on Longello as he charged down the flank, TW penalty claim I do wonder if the ref went into to game with the intention of not being conned. It certainly felt like that from my biassed perspective. Add to that we've lost confidence, some players are off the boil, teams have learned how to counter act, we have several injuries etc - it's no way near the same entertainment as earlier in the season. The squad lacks depth but I do think a couple of the fringe players deserve a start next week.
  15. I think the lads have ran out of steam . For those as old as me it reminds me of when you used up too much energy too soon on Daley Thomson’s decathlon game on Commodore 64. until March we’d played with a certain tempo and can’t help but think we’re spent . Squad depth has been depleted through injury . all teams go through bad spells and like @Ya Bezzer! mentions it’s been downhill since the stmirren game . March was pretty poor and today was dross . it may need us to play a few more of the guys who have been in the fringes and change formation to try an kick on and get a few results
  16. Teams have also sussed us out somewhat - stopping us playing through the lines - also we look to have simply ran out of puff
  17. We’ve been dreadful . Too many players way off form . we look like we can concede every time they come up the park
  18. we've not been on it since the Utd game at the end of Feb. All teams will go through patches , this is for me the poorest run of games we've had. Honestly think we just need to get get back to basics , keep the ball, find our men and chances will come. Might be worth brining on Nicholson for Sparrow to give a bit more creative flair and protect 11 men.
  19. We need a rub of the green from the officials - been one way equally our general play lacking - lost that sharpness we had
  20. Agree - he’s proven to be a very decent player - we’ve certainly missed him in the last month or so
  21. I really struggled - hard to watch . Japan are a well drilled team who have evolved significantly over recent decades . happy that we’ve become spoiled with our approach watching our beloved Well but it equally highlights where nationally we’re not progressing. Don’t get me wrong I’m delighted for Scotland to be at the World Cup and the final qualifying game was incredible but suspect we’ll spend most of the games chasing shadows . Hopefully our club approach can influence the broader game in Scotland , including national team . meanwhile really looking forward to getting back to league action - hope we have a bit of zip on our game and take all 3 pts .
  22. I don’t like that part of his game , never have and don’t see it being holier than now or sanctimonious . there’s plenty of honest pros who don’t dive an feign injury . I’d rather players just got on with it
  23. There’s a series of mistakes that have led to the punishment . Whoever initially thought there was contact was wrong . VAR made a chops of it . This has led to a disproportionate punishment . That being said I have zero sympathy for Slattery , there’s an element to his game thats quite embarrassing and hopefully this helps put and end to his nonsense .
  24. I despise diving/feigning injury . Something we'd do well to get rid of, together with VAR. Dishing on strong punishment like this as many have said is welcomed. That being said there's a way to do it and that's being clear with all clubs that moving forward players will dealt with in xyz manner. Typically this happens at the start of a season. It's zero surprise that it's non OF clubs that first feel the wrath. To do it retrospectively like this with such a severe punishment should be baffling but sadly just another piece of evidence of how badly the game is being run.
